Akin -- Philmore Donald (Don) Akin, age 84, of Santa Fe, died at his home on Thursday, April 13, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loweta Akin; and his mother, Eleanor Akin. Don was born on November 3, 1917 in Hot Springs, AR. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico. Before his retirement he was employed as a civil engineer for the U.S. Geological Survey and NM State Engineer's Office. He was a member of St. John's Methodist Church. He is survived by his sons, Robert Akin of California; sister, Doris Neeb of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Charleene of California; and niece, Georgia Daves and husband, Gary of Bosque Farms. Visitation will begin on Saturday, April 15, 12:30 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Chapel, where a Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
