Roybal -- Lawrence Roybal, 74, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 29, 2000, while surround by his loving family. Mr. Roybal was born December 14, 1926 to the late Melton and Clara Roybal; he was a life long resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; a proud Veteran of the United States Navy; a member of the American Legion Post 69; and was the owner and operator of Roybal's Market on North 4th Street. He was well known for the hospitality given to his customers and neighbors; he was a very loving and caring man, who was very much loved by his family and friends. Mr. Roybal is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Valtentina S. Roybal of the family home; his children, Richard Roybal, Christopher Roybal, Beverly Baca, Rosella Harms and husband, Monte all of Albuquerque, and Mae Dotson and husband, Timothy of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Agnes Chavez; other relatives; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. A rosary will be recited Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Ave., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth St., NW 898-3160.
