Bachicha -- Alberto Bachicha, 81, a resident of Los Chavez and formerly of Clovis, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 29, 2000 at the Belen Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past six years. Alberto was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary P. Bachicha in 1983; two brothers and three sisters. Alberto is survived by his three children, Inez Murillo Gonzales of Los Chavez; Dolores Gomez of Belen; Roberto Bachicha and his wife, Cindy of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Felecita Lucero of Pueblo, Co. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Monday, January 1, 2001, 5:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 2, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, with Interment following at the San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. Butler -- Richard P. Butler, 65, a resident of Albuquerque, and formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa died of cancer December 25, 2000 at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque. Richard was born January 9, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ray and Hazel Butler. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1953, and attended the University of Iowa. He served in the U. S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S. Oriskany. He was also a member of the Navy Drum and Bugle Corps. His mother, Hazel Butler; and a sister, Linda Workman both of Ottumwa, Iowa; two nephews and a niece survive Richard. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Butler. Champe -- Muriel Jean Champe, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Sunday, December 24, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Champe Walter and husband, Eugene of Los Alamos, NM; sons, Andrew B. Champe and wife, Debbie of Tucson, AZ and Chris Champe of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ryan Walter, Lori Champe, David Champe, and Lisa Champe; brothers, Jack Walker and wife, Jean of St. Petersburg, FL and Russell Anderson and wife, Janet of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Beulah Amole of St. Petersburg, FL; and sisters-in-law, Willa Slack and Pauline Lily of Huntington, WV; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Champe on January 17, 1992; and son, Charles Randell Champe on June 13, 1991. Mrs. Champe was born and raised in West Virginia. She was married on April 9, 1944 in Deland, FL to Charles E. Champe. She was a loving wife and mother. Her family was her greatest joy. Mrs. Champe was a charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and a member of the Christian Women's Club. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at schools and hospitals until her health failed. Services will be held Sunday, December 31, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Jerry McElhinney officiating. Private interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Cooper -- Joe R. Cooper, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Friday, December 22, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Herman and husband, George E.; grandchildren, George Joseph Herman, James Edward Herman, Valerie Kristine Herman, all of Tucson, AZ and John Steven Herman of Cherry Point, NC; and great-granddaughter, Amorette Flores of Tucson, AZ. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Vera. Joe belonged to V.F.W. and was a decorated WWII Army Veteran. Elter -- Mary Louise Elter, 66, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Thursday, December 28, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill Elter of the family home; daughters, Judy Elter of Albuquerque, NM and Dorothy Lewis and husband, Lou of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Brandy Erven and Nicholas Elter both of Albuquerque, NM; great grandchildren, Ramon Jaramillo and Jacob Roberts both of Albuquerque, NM; mother, Dolores Sesma of Albuquerque, NM; and sisters, Martha George, Betty Mitchell and Dante Sesma all of Albuquerque, NM. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Elter loved life, laughter and to dance. Forsythe -- Mrs. Elsie Ann Forsythe, 91, passed away December 28, 2000 at her home in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Paul W. Forsythe, and by her sisters, Flora Smith of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Ruby Jamison of King City, Missouri, Lois Washburn of King City, Missouri, and her brother, Fred T. Howe of King City, Missouri. She is survived by her brother, Samuel Howe, of King City, Missouri; in-laws, Mrs. Ralph Forsythe and Mrs. Harold Kindschi; and several nieces and nephews including Joe W. Smith, of El Paso, Texas, and Dr. Charley R. Smith, of Hobbs, New Mexico; and nine Godchildren. She attended college at Maryville, Missouri and the Texas School of Mines (UTEP). She and her husband enjoyed traveling and made trips to sixty-nine countries, many of which were in pursuit of their interests in religious art of other cultures. Mrs. Forsythe was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Mexico Bead Society, Albuquerque Country Club, Genealogy Club of Albuquerque, Charles DeBrell Chapter of D.A.R., Colonial Dames of XVII Century, Colonial Dames of America, and Huguenot Society, and Albuquerque Historical Society. She was also a co-founder of the docent program and former board member of the Albuquerque Museum, a former board member of the Fine Arts and Maxwell Museums, and a docent at the Indian Cultural Center. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held later at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust, N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Boys and Girls Ranch, New Mexico 87002, or to the donor's favorite charity.

Fuqua -- Betty S. Fuqua, 54, a resident of Bosque Farms for six years, loving wife, mother and friend, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dan F. Gutierrez -- Inez T. Gutierrez passed away December 28, 2000 in Albuquerque, after a long illness. She was a member of the Catholic Church, and a long-time resident of Albuquerque. Inez was preceded in death by her mother, Manuelita Soriano; and brother, Samuel Tapia. She is survived by her son, Louie Moya; daughter, Valerie Moya; five grandchildren, Orlando, Jenessa, Ashley, Desiree, and Juanito; sisters, Viola Tapia and Dolores Chavez and husband, Phillip all of Albuquerque; brothers, David Tapia of Albuquerque, Fermin Soriano of Seattle, WA; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends who loved and will miss her. Gutierrez -- Mrs. Sally A. Gutierrez died Thursday in Albuquerque at the age of 73. Mrs. Gutierrez was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Lucero -- Staff Sergeant Gregory A. Lucero, 36, stationed in Giebelsladt, Germany, died December 20, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Germany. Gregory was born on February 2, 1964. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond R. Lucero. Gregory is survived by his wife, Janet of Germany; and a daughter, Christina Lucero, of Arizona; he is also survived by his mother, Ramona E. Lucero, of Albuquerque; his brother, Raymond R. Lucero, Jr. and his wife, Cyndi; sisters, Diana Sanchez and her husband, Robert, Lucille Samudio, Debra Riordan and her husband, Greg, Edith Kent and her husband, Doug; also his mother-in-law Josephine Schnoor; his Godparents, Albert and Victoria Gonzales, and Robert Gonzales; and his uncles and aunts, many nieces, nephews and friends. Greg will be dearly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Mckinnon -- Katherine Dowiatt McKinnon, 89, a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2000 after a long illness. Roussel -- Nettie L. Roussel, a lifetime resident of New Mexico passed away on Friday, December 22, 2000. Nettie was born in Domingo, New Mexico and as child moved to Albuquerque. Her parents were Eugeno and Petra Sanchez Lucero. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Nettie is survived by her son, Dr. Mike E. Roussel and wife, Karen of Albuquerque; and daughter, Yvonne Roussel of Escondido, CA; two grandchildren, Andrea and Lauren Roussel of Albuquerque. Roussel -- Wilbur C. Roussel, a longtime resident of New Mexico passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2000. Wilbur was born in New Haven, IN and moved to Albuquerque in 1942. His parents were Louis Roussel and Mary Ida (Gladieux) Roussel. He was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Wilbur is survived by his son, Dr. Mike E. Roussel and wife, Karen of Albuquerque, and daughter, Yvonne M. Roybal -- Lawrence Roybal, 74, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 29, 2000, while surround by his loving family. Mr. Roybal was born December 14, 1926 to the late Melton and Clara Roybal; he was a life long resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; a proud Veteran of the United States Navy; a member of the American Legion Post 69; and was the owner and operator of Roybal's Market on North 4th Street. He was well known for the hospitality given to his customers and neighbors; he was a very loving and caring man, who was very much loved by his family and friends. Mr. Roybal is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Valtentina S. Roybal of the family home; his children, Richard Roybal, Christopher Roybal, Beverly Baca, Rosella Harms and husband, Monte all of Albuquerque, and Mae Dotson and husband, Timothy of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Agnes Chavez; other relatives; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. A rosary will be recited Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Ave., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Sena -- Daniel A. Sena was born in Rowe, NM on July 21, 1914. Mr. Sena died on December 29, 2000 following a short illness. He is preceded in death by his son, Larry who died in 1989; his brothers, Nestor and Severo; and sisters, Adeline, Emma, and Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 61 years; his children, Allen and wife, Helen, Stella, Jack and wife, Rosina, Donald and wife, Kathy, Kathlyn Friar and husband, Bill, Evelyn Unruh, and Robert; his brother, Frank Sena and wife, Grace, of Denver, CO; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at Salazar & Sons chapel on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. where a visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at San Clemente Church in Los Lunas. Burial will follow at San Clemente Cemetery. Sengel -- Dr. Edward William ¯Ed¯ Sengel, III, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Danielle Sengel of 33 years; son, Edward William Sengel IV and wife, Kazue Akao and one grandchild on the way, all of Tokyo, Japan; and daughter, Samantha Sengel and soon to be husband, Jason Bousliman of Albuquerque, NM. Preceded in death by his parents, Willie Marie and Bob Lord. Ed served in the US Army for 23 years and retired a Lt. Colonel. He was Director of Information Systems with the UNM Foundation for the past 11 years. Ed received degrees from University of Washington, Boston University and USC. A Memorial Gathering for family and close friends will take place on Wednesday, December 27th at 5:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. A Memorial Celebration will be held on January 4, 2001 at noon at UNM Alumni Chapel with Duffy Swan and Ray Ziler, officiating. Shoemaker -- Searle, Zena Shoemaker, loving Grandma, passed away on December 27, 2000 at her daughter's home in Gilbert, AZ after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in England, a resident of Albuquerque, she lived to enjoy the outdoors and travel with her devoted husband, Jerry. Her joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Keagan, Ryan and Alyssa going on long walks to the park to feed the ducks, while at the same time completing her degree at the University of New Mexico. She enjoyed Arizona visits and being close to her daughter, Brandi and son-in-law, Rick. Zena was an accomplished athlete. She participated in national fencing, softball, and Senior Olympics basketball. She is preceded in death by her brother, Fred Baca, and dear friend, Dan Shoemaker. She is survived by her immediate family, Randy and Teresa Baca, Maurice and Val Rushman, Ben and Aida Baca, Johnny and Rose Baca, and Marlena Melendez; her nieces and nephews are Jared, Joel, and Jennifer Baca, Eli, Jason, and Tiffany Baca, Brandon and Deidra Baca, and Aaron Melendez; and many many friends and relatives. We are proud of the way she touched each of our lives in her different roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. We thank everyone for their prayers and support. Smith -- Forrest E. Smith, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, died Monday, December 25, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mildred Smith of Albuquerque; daughter, Ann Bruner and husband, Kent of Estancia, NM; sons, Steven Smith and David Smith and wife, Christina, all of Albuquerque; and sister, Twila Hanner of San Diego, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Josephine Smith; brother, Horace Gillette; sister, Nadine Sims and her husband, Woodrow and Brother-in-Law, Amos Hanner. Mr. Smith served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific. After his military service, he met his wife, Mildred Hamm in Dallas, TX and they were married in 1954. He worked as a truck driver for Coca Cola and Don Ward Trucking until his retirement. The last two years, he was a season ticket holder and avid fan of the Scorpions. Last year he was privileged to attend the All Star Games in Amarillo, where he grew up. While there, he was able to see the home he grew up in and the school he attended. Stierwalt -- Virginia Ann Stierwalt, 63, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, December 29, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Albuquerque; children, Robert Mark Stierwalt and wife, Barbara of Rio Rancho, and William Andrew Stierwalt and wife, Kathy of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Samantha Renee Stierwalt and Melissa Kay Stierwalt, both of Rio Rancho and Sarah Katherine Stierwalt, David Andrew Stierwalt and Mathew Robert Stierwalt, all of Indianapolis; brother, Robert Raymond of Florida; and sister, Katie Stirman of Florida. Virginia lived on her parents¯farm in Lafayette, IN during her childhood helping with the farm work and helping her father raise Christmas Trees. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette, graduating in 1955 with a straight A grade point. She enrolled at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis in September 1955 where she met her future husband, Robert. They were married on September 15, 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana. Her husband's employment on the railroad took them to several states: Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan. Virginia attended Penn State University for two years while living in Altoona, PA and again was on the Dean's list with a 4.0 GPA. While living in Indiana she finished her schooling, receiving a degree in English Literature from Indiana University and graduating at the top of her class. She was accepted by the MENSA Society and retained membership for a number of years. She and her husband traveled much during their years together, spending time camping and RVing in their trailer throughout the United States. They also made trips to England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain. Virginia loved England and they visited there and in Scotland eight times, sightseeing from the north to the south and from the east to the west. With her love for English Literature her husband said it was like traveling with a treasure trove of English history. She and her husband retired in 1990 and moved to Albuquerque where they built a new home on the west side and have resided there since that time. She was a member of the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church where they attended regularly. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a Christian woman who loved the Lord. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., January 3, 2001 at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Road NW with Dr. Robert Clary officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul, NE. Pallbearers will be Dr. Al Chatfield, Frank Delillo, Rick Furlano, Gary Rich, Glen Lemon, and Doug Thomas and Rev. Peter Denlea. Terry -- Milton Terry, age 80, lifetime Quay County resident, passed away in the Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, TX on Friday morning, December 29, 2000. Milton Terry was born April 13, 1920 at Bard, NM, attended school at Porter, NM and graduated from the Porter School in 1939. He had been a farmer and rancher in the Porter community. He was active in the Democratic Party and had served as Quay County Commissioner for two terms. HE served two terms as Quay County Tax Assessor in the late 80's. In the seventies he lived for a number of years in Farmington, NM, being employed by the Navajo Agri. Products. During that time he also served as appraiser for San Juan County. After moving back to Logan, he served as Manager for the Village of Logan. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Logan, NM, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of San Jon, NM and the Tucumcari Elks Lodge 1172. Surviving Milton Terry are three daughters, Patsy Hedgecock of Bloomfield, NM, Phyllis Tillman of Clovis, NM, and C. Kay Terry of Las Vegas, NM; his companion, Rose Barnett of Logan, NM; three brothers, Marvin Terry of San Jon, NM, L.E. Terry and Kenneth Terry of Logan, NM; two sisters, Thelma Donwerth of Tucumcari, NM and La Verne Waldeisen of Matureville, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Monday morning, January 1, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in the San Jon First Baptist Church with Rev. M.V. Summers, minister of Central Baptist Church of Clovis, NM, officiating. Burial will be in the San Jon Cemetery at San Jon, NM. The body of Milton Terry will lie in state at the Dunn Funeral Home from Saturday afternoon until 7:00 p.m. and from Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that night. The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Tucumcari Helping Hands Hospice in memory of Milton Terry.

Torres -- Mr. Daniel L. Torres, (Uncle Dan), 71, joined Our Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2000. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 1/2 years, Mrs. Tommie Torres. He is also survived by two sons, Danny Jr. and Leonard P. Torres. Mr. Torres also raised their grandsons, Danny III and David W. Torres; a brother, Robert L. Torres and wife, Stella; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Clara Torres; beloved brothers and sisters-in-law include Sam and Lena Paiz, Leo and Josie Castillo, Deacon Robert and Clarabelle Paiz; four grandchildren, Joseph, Christine, Sarah, and Andrew Torres and numbers cherished and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Torres is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ursula Torres and his siblings Andres L. Torres, Rose Lovato, Fred L. Torres, and Victor Torres II. Mr. Torres retired from Kirtland Air Force Base, Weapons Lab as a supervisor after 36 years of service. Mr. Torres served in the US Air Force for four years. Daniel was an avid hunter and lived first to live the first Cursillo in the state of New Mexico. He went on to become a"profesor" in the Cursillo Movement. Mr. Torres, was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church for over 30 years and served as an usher, he was also a member of the American Legion Post 13, an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary and Missionary of Mercy Society of Our Lady of the Family. Dan will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his loving and generous manner. A rosary will be recited Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal S.W. Final visitation will be at the church from 8:20 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Father Balizan, celebrant of the Mass.
