Baudoin -- Louis P. Baudoin Sr. passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at his residence in Socorro. Born February 26, 1922 to Louis J. and Hildred Gardinier Baudoin in Claremont, MN. He lived his early years in the Chicago, IL area, where he graduated from Waukegan Township High School and attended RCA Institutes and became an Eagle Scout. In 1942, he joined the Army Air Corps (USAF) to become a pilot on the B-26 Bomber, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve until 1957. In 1950, Mr. Baudoin and his wife moved to Albuquerque, where he worked for Timpte, Inc. before becoming an Associate Senior Designer for Sandia National Laboratories. After retiring in 1975, Lou and his wife moved to Socorro, where he served as an Honorary Professor at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He was a member of the American Welding Society, Medical Aids Research Foundation, Kit Carson Council, Boy Scouts of America, B-26 Marauder Historical Society, Air Forces Flyers Club, Socorro Old Car Club, National Model T Club, VMCCA and the Socorro County Historical Society. He was a HAM radio operator and assisted in the design of the V.L.A. rail vehicles system. Lou and Berenyce enjoyed tours and parades in their 1925 Model Ford and overseas cruising. Lou Baudoin touched more people through his helping hands, innovation, design skills and goodwill, enabling and changing people's lives through his generosity. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Berenyce Falk Baudoin of Socorro; sons, Louis Jr. and wife, Patricia, Ali and wife, La Verne of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lisa, Suzanne, Genevieve and Bayard; great-grandchildren, Ely Watson, Noah Watson and Max Neiberg. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 25, 11:00 a.m., at Steadman-Hall Funeral Chapel, in Socorro, with Rev. Phil Preston officiating. Final interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Socorro General Hospital Hospice, P.O. Box 1009, Socorro, NM 87801.
