Lucero -- Tony M. Lucero Sr., 89, passed away at home with his family, August 28, 2000. A native New Mexican since before statehood, he was born in Las Vegas to Jubencio and Adela Lucero. He was a former captain in the Red Cross, served as Motor Vehicle Commissioner, loved carpentry and gardening. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Henrietta G. Lucero on December, 1998; and son, Tony M. Lucero Jr. in June, 1955. Tony is survived by his children, Ludger Lucero and wife, Judy, Robert Lucero and wife, Joan, Darlene Pientka, Tandy M. Lucero and wife, Terri, Louella C. Lucero, Donna M. Lucero; and adopted daughter, Brenda Powell; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Aurora Garcia, Viola Ortiz, Consuelo Trujillo; brothers, Ignacio Lucero, Frank Lucero, and numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2000. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2000, with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
