Chavez -- Samuel Chavez, Sr., 91, a resident of Albuquerque passed away Sunday, August 20, 2000. Mr. Chavez was born in San Marcial, NM. He was employed by the Santa Fe Rail Road, where he retired after 31 years. Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife of 68 years, Conception (Connie) Chavez; one son, Samuel Chavez Jr. and wife, Frances; four daughters, Selfita McCollum and husband, Jack of Las Vegas, NV, Albita Bruno of Gardena, CA, Sally Sanchez and Lorraine Chavez, both of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. James Moore as celebrant. Casket bearers will be Ben Bruno, Tommy Bruno, Moses Santiago, Patrick Sanchez, Mickey Gabaldon and Vince Smith. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., S.W. 243-5222
