Armijo -- Johnnie A. Armijo. On Sunday, November 12th Johnnie passed away peacefully. He was a beloved man with many relatives and friends. He was born in Sabinal, New Mexico, to Clemente and Francisquita Armijo. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving proudly in the Army. He lived several years in Wilmington, California, where he was a member of the Plasterers Union. Johnnie enjoyed playing the drums for several bands including"Johnnie A and the Western Rhythm Makers", whose speciality was of Western music and rancheras. Upon retirement he returned to New Mexico and married Mary Lee Lorigo where they enjoyed fishing, dancing, and excursions to casinos. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brothers, Manuel, Pete, Gerry; and sisters, Mary and Caroline. He is survived by his sister, Vina Enis; his brother, Ben Armijo and wife, Sylvia; his sister-in-law, Fela Armijo; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends; and his special friend, Margaret Gonzales. Johnnie will always be remembered as a practical joker with a tremendous sense of humor and also for his generosity. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico on Nov. 14, 2000 at 7:00 pm. A Mass celebrating Johnnie's life will be held at San Antonio Catholic Church in Sabinal, New Mexico with Father Vincent Nicosia presiding, on Nov. 16, 2000 at 11:00 am.
