Balicki -- Frederic W. Balicki, 61, of MacArthur Drive, a nuclear physicist, died Sunday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the former husband of Charlotte A. Ferris of Warwick, RI. Born in Chicopee Falls, Mass., a son of the late Frederick J. and Eileen D. (Weldon) Balicki, he lived in Warwick for two years, previously living in Tijeras for 12 years, and in Washington, DC for 20 years. Mr. Balicki was a nuclear physicist for Dasiac Division of ITT Systems in Colorado Springs, CO in their New Mexico office. He had been employed for 20 years by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. He served in the Army at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lemar State College, now the University of Texas at Beaumont, and his Master's degree in Science from American University in Washington, DC. He was a member of the Nuclear Atomic Weapons Society at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, the National Atomic Museum of Albuquerque, and the IEEE. Besides his former wife, he leaves a daughter, Heather D. Balicki of Warwick, RI; a brother, Mark Balicki of Boston; and two sisters, Sheila Simpson of Ludlow, Mass. and Linda Bartholomew of Baltimore, MD. The funeral and burial will be private.
