Rise -- We lost an elegant lady Tuesday morning, January 29, 2002 at 7:55 a.m. Our mother, our friend, Vara Rise, died peacefully at home. Born November 15, 1918 in Jackson, TN, she was a longtime resident of Albuquerque. She found the love of her life, Carl Rise, and married him on April 3, 1954. He preceded her in death April 22, 2001. While raising six boys she was a top Realtor for many years. She was co-owner of Best Moulding Corporation, founded in 1947, which flourishes today and continues to employ 60 to 70 people. She was passionate about family. She spent most of her love, time and energy taking care of Carl and keeping tabs on her boys. Some of her favorite times were fishing trips to Mexico with Carl. They shared many wonderful memories. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by one sister, Velma Wentworth of Jackson, TN; her children, Steve Marlowe and wife, Patty of Redding, CA, Gordon Marlowe and wife, Rena of Belen, Frank DeMott and wife, Helen, of Albuquerque, Joe Rise and wife, Kathy of Corrales, John Rise and wife, Karen of Albuquerque; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rise was preceded in death by her son, Billy Rise. Services will be held Friday, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with the Rev. Sandra S. Bess officiating.
