Brown -- Mr. George Bierner Brown, 78, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 31, 2002. Mr. Brown is survived by his stepmother, Mary Brown; two daughters, Mary Jane Brown Duran and husband, Dan, Pamela Brown Coates and husband, Frank; seven sisters, Esther Torrez( John), Stella Tafoya and husband, Cruz, Alice McBride and husband, Jim, Kathy Wiggins(Wille), Lee Cassidy(Jim), Lydia Blevins and husband, Bob, Jean Glidewell and husband, Duane; four brothers, Tom Brown and wife, Olaya, Freddie Brown, Robert Brown and wife, Amy, Phillip Brown and wife, Frances; four grandchildren, Daniel Scott Duran, Stephanie Padilla and husband, Rumaldo, Frankie Coates and George Coates; three great grandchildren, Rumaldo Padilla IV, Michael Padilla, Emmalee Jade Padilla; his beloved Chihuahua, Weezy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife Emma, his daughter, Sandra Gail, his parents AC and Vivianita Brown; his sister Elsie Brown Chavez and his brother, Abbie Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a Veteran of the US Army serving during WW II. He participated in the"D" Day invasion of Normandy, survived the assault on Omaha Beach, and was wounded on August 13, 1944, by machinegun fire while still serving in France. He was medically evacuated across the English Channel where he spent 10 months in an Army Hospital. His metals include the Purple Heart, Bronze Battlestar, Combat Infantry Badge and the French Jubilee Medal of Liberty. George wore many hats during his lifetime, he was a ranchhand, miner, soldier, surveryor, cabinetmaker, and he retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Albuquerque. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm until 3:00pm in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 8:30am until 9:00am at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:00. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30am with full military honors by the DAV chapter 3. Pallbearers will be Tom Brown, Freddie Brown, Robert Brown, Phillip Brown, Scott Duran and Frankie Coates. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Coates, Cruz Tafoya, Bob Blevins, Jim McBride, Duane Glidewell and Charlie Bierner. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
