Holt -- David Benjamin Holt died Monday, February 18, 2002 of a malignant brain tumor. He was born near Nashville, AR on April 24, 1936, only son of Josephine Bryant Holt and Percy Campbell Holt. He graduated from Nashville High School and joined the Navy, going to San Diego for Boot Camp, Norman, OK for Aviation School and Millington, TN for Electronic School. He was then assigned to North Island Naval Station in San Diego and dispatched to Iukuna, Japan with Patrol Squadron 48 as a Radar Operator. After discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at the University of Arkansas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science with honors in Electrical Engineering in 1962. He then came to Albuquerque and joined Sandia National Labs, attended UNM part time and received a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1964. His entire career at Sandia involved work with satellite systems. He retired after 38 years at Sandia in June 2000. David was a lifelong Methodist and an active member of Central United Methodist Church and Partnership Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Barry Holt and his wife, Tracy, Paul Holt and his, wife Andrea, and Lynn Holt Russo and her husband, Tony; two grandchildren, Rachel and Rebekah Holt; four sisters, Margaret Massey of Little Rock, AR, Amanda Fishback of North Little Rock, AR, Charlie Jean Brakebill of Little Rock, AR and Carolyn Davis of Snyder, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Jo Thornton. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield and Rev. Marty Singleterry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Barry Holt, Paul Holt, Tony Russo, Rik Holman, Bill Lackey, Tom Hoover, Paul Elder and Rex Allender. David was a gentle man, kind, generous and soft spoken. He was respected by his peers, and dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Jemez Property Program, 1615 Copper NE, 87106. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
