Strance -- Elvina "Viney" Strance, 84, long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday March 8, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Strance; daughter, Melody Porr and husband Van of Albuquerque; grandson Byron Shane Chubbuck and wife, Laticia; granddaughter Cherise E. Traum and husband, Donald; great grandson Eduardo Immanuel Chubbuck; sister, Glena Riddle and husband, Bob of Franklin, PA; and brother, David Logan and wife Kathy of Pensacola, FL. Elvina was born in Oil City, PA, the daughter of the late Samuel and Pearl Logan. She moved to Albuquerque in the early 50's. Through the years she was employed by Sandia National Laboratory, Dikewood Corporation, Albuquerque Public Schools and was retired from The University of New Mexico. Elvina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was well known for her love and joy of music and whenever or wherever possible her talent was put to good and happy use including playing for nursing homes and churches. Viney was involved with all kinds of crafts and entered many of her items in the State Fair. She was a member of the Ladies Elks, The Ukrainian Embroidery Class, Highland Senior Center, Kathy Lewis Folk Dancers, the VFW Auxiliary, LDS Relief Society, Los Aranos Spinners and was past Director of Music at the Albuquerque Christian Institute, past member of the Hammond Organ Society, and past Secretary/Treasurer of the Albuquerque Poetry Society. She enjoyed her home and her life. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE with Rev. Ed Storm officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Arrangements by French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE.
