Maez-Sanchez -- Mrs. Oralia (Lala) Maez-Sanchez, 91, a resident of Albuquerque passed away after a short illness on March 29, 2002 with her beloved husband, daughters and grandchildren at her side. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her beloved husband of seventy-one years, Mr. Manuel Sanchez Sr.; four daughters, Gloria Chavez and husband, Vivian, Susie Sanchez and husband, Juven, Linda Baca and husband, Albert, Rose Mary Atencio and husband, Frank; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond Maez-Sanchez and Manuel Sanchez Jr; her daughter in law, Cecilia Maez; her sister, Mary Sanchez; her brother in law, Espirion Sanchez. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church, active chairwoman for the Democratic Party for many years and was known by everyone as"Big Mama." Visitation will be Monday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Manuel Viera. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ramon Atencio, Manuel Sanchez III, Manny Sanchez, Michael Baca, Ray Dean Maez and Louie Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rich Padilla, Timothy Sanchez, Tomas Atencio, Juven Sanchez, Vivian Chavez, Albert Baca, Leroy Sanchez and Frank Atencio. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
