Berger -- Lyle Rae Berger, born July 1, 1945, lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Lyle spent her life doing the things she loved and was respected and loved by those who knew her. She approached her death with the same peace and character that exemplified her life and died at home on March 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, J. Scott Altenbach; his son, Chris; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; and grandson, Scott Anders Altenbach. She is also survived by her parents, Lyle Raymond and Louise Dorothy Berger; her brother, Scott Pawnee Berger; his son and daughter, Dustin and Brooke all of Albuquerque. Also surviving is her brother, Terry Alan and her sister-in-law, Leslie Berger; and their daughter, Blair of Newark, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made in Lyle Rae's name to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Pl. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., 810 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10102-0103. Bogynska -- Oscar V. Bogynska, 82, a resident of the lbuquerque area since 1978, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002. He is survived by his brother, Harold Bogynska; and nephew, Bill Bosynska, both of West Linn, OR. Mr. Bogynska was raised in Oregon City and attended the University of Washington. He spent over 30 years in Alaska where he had a number of different businesses, one being a president of an airline. Mr. Bogynska was a pilot and owned his own airplane. He later moved to Albuquerque and became a Real Estate Investor. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. England -- Caryl England, 76, died Thursday, March 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Steve Neal of Albuquerque; daughters, Jasmine Poole, Kim Poole and Haeja England; son, Billy England, all of Corrales; granddaughters, Mija Poole-Causey and Lily Poole-Causey; and sisters, Gae Nichols and Muriel Welsh. Known to her friends as ¯Caryl of Corrales, Caryl was one of the original members of the Corrales Adobe Theatre. Her love of the arts was only exceeded by her love of life. Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Gallegos -- Pedro Pablo "Pete" Gallegos, 64, has gone to his eternal home in Heaven. He was resident of Las Vegas, NM and passed away on Friday with his loving family by his side following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juanita and Fulgencio Madrid and his paternal grandparents, Eutimio and Placidita Gallegos all of Villanueva, NM. Pete was born on June 29, 1937 in Villanueva, NM to Pedro and Josephine Madrid Gallegos. On July 29, 1979 he was united in marriage to Jo Ann Martinez. He was a well known contractor in and around Las Vegas and ran the P & P Construction Company in Santa Fe for 20 years and was also the co-owner of OG's Tortilla Factory. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Navy and was also a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #3815. Besides his parents, Pedro and Josephine Gallegos of Villanueva and his wife, Jo Ann of Las Vegas, NM, he is survived by his children, Marjorie Torres and her husband, Ramon of Espanola, NM; Peter Gallegos and his wife, Emma and their children, Jennifer and Tamara all of Taos, NM; Paula Gallegos-Purdue and her husband, Billy Sr. and their children, Billy Jr. and Francesca all of Santa Fe; Roger Martinez and his wife, Michelle and their children, Tasha and Michael all of Sapello, NM; Donna Martinez and her husband, Toby and their children, Toby III and Amanda all of Sapello, NM; and Sandra Coca and her husband, Steve and their children, Savannah, Steven, and Joshua all of Las Vegas; NM; two sisters, Catherine Aguilar and her husband, Pete of Santa Fe, NM and Leora Villanueva and her husband, Leroy of Villanueva, NM; four brothers, Johnny Gallegos and his wife, Caroline of Villanueva, NM, Eutimio Gallegos and his wife, Lorella of Albuquerque, Roy Gallegos and his wife, Rosabelle of Villanueva, NM, and Andrew Gallegos and his wife, Delphina of Taos, NM; his mother-in-law, Josephine Varela of Las Vegas, NM; a sister-in-law, Karla Jaramillo and her husband, Ralph of Santa Fe, NM; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Varela and his wife, Doris of Las Vegas, NM; aunts Lola Flores and her husband, Tobias of Villanueva, NM and Nora Stearns of Las Vegas, NM; uncles, Reginio and Frank Gallegos and his wife, Aurelia of Villanueva and by several godchildren, nieces, and nephews that loved him dearly. Garcia -- Anita Chavez Garcia, 72, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2002. She was born in Parkview, NM to Ruben and Ester Martinez Chavez on June 10, 1929. Preceding Anita in death are her parents; her twin infant sons, John and Joseph; her brother, Frank Chavez; and sister, Rebecca Lucero. She is survived by her soul mate of 55 years her husband, Antonio; her sons and their wives, Anthony Herman and Mary Lou Garcia of Aurora, CO, James and Roberta Garcia of Farmington, and George and Tammy Garcia of Albuquerque; her daughters and their husbands, Esther and Henry Rivera of Albuquerque, Eva and John Higgins of Santa Rosa and Jackie and Bill Canon of Aztec; and her two sisters, Cordy Mestas of Alamosa, CO and Angie Cantu of Taos. She will also be missed by her 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Aztec on Monday, April 1, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Blonski, Celebrant. Interment will be at the family cemetery in Parkview. The family will remember their mother as being the world's best mother and grandmother. Goode -- George F. Goode, age 73, of Albuquerque, NM entered eternal life Wednesday, March 28, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 18, 1928 in Brookfield, MO and has lived in Albuquerque for the past 34 years. He was active in Kiwanis, the Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels and other programs. He retired from the USAF and was a WW II Veteran. His wife, Honey Lou; mother, Mary Holcomb of Moberly, MO; three sons; a daughter; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; two brothers; and a sister survive him. Memorial Services will be held at the Central United Methodist Church at 1615 Copper Ave. at 4:00 p.m. Friday April 5, 2002. Hamilton -- Alice H. Hamilton, 96, a resident of Sabinal, NM passed away on Friday, March 29, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Her life exemplified her favorite Bible verse,"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" Ps. 118:24. She is preceded in death by Phillip S. Cotton and Robert N. Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter, Janice C. and her husband, Barney Carbajal Jr.; her grandchildren, Karen Reed; Robert Iorio, Barney Carbajal III, Leo Carbajal and Rick Carbajal and their families; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by other family and friends in New England and friends in Florida. A visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2002 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Home Chapel. Heltman -- Rollie V. Heltman, a resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away March 26, 2002. He was born August 28, 1911 in North Platte, Nebraska to Beaulah Wilson and Charles T. Heltman. Mr. Heltman grew up in Colorado. He attended Colorado State at Greeley. He received his BA and MA degrees from the University of NM. Heltman was a charter member at the New Mexico Instrumental Music Directors Association. This organization was the predecessor of the present New Mexico Music Educators Association of which he was the first president in 1942. He served as the Secretary Treasure and the Executive Secretary from 1957-1993. Mr. Heltman's music teaching career began in Cimarron, NM, as the band and orchestra director. Other music programs he directed were in Belen, NM, La Junta, CO and Los Alamos, NM. In 1966 he joined the State Department of Education as a Music Educator and Fine Arts Specialist. He retired from this position in 1980. He influenced many young people to pursue careers as music educators or performers. He was a life long member of the Music Educators National Association and the National Education Association. He was a member of the Masons and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Holy Faith Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; son, William and friend, Elizabeth Hoffman, son, Greg and wife, Elaine; daughter, Celia Ann and husband, Roger of Vienna, Virginia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Taylor of Englewood, CO, and Joanne Hale of Lubbock, TX; and one brother, Charles Heltman of Ferriday, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosario Cemetery. A reception will be held after the service. Hinman -- Charles Edward Hinman, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Doris Hinman; daughters, Kay Kitts and husband, Jim of Albuquerque, Joyce Coffey and husband, Bill of Rock Springs, WY; grandchildren, Tracey Kitts and wife, Koger of Albuquerque, Jolene Reed and husband, David of Snowhomish, WA, Jodie Guerin and husband, John of Laramie, WY, Teri Coffey of Las Vegas, NV and Brian Coffey and Ann of Tucson, AZ; and great-grandchildren, Shepherd and Tucker Guerin and Trent Kitts. Mr. Hinman was preceded in death by his parents, Violet Grace Gibson and George Alanzo Hinman. He was born on August 4, 1907 in Green River, UT. He married Doris F. Hemphill on August 14, 1933 in Aspen, CO. He was a graduate of Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, CO in 1938, with a degree in education. Mr. Hinman was an educator for over twenty years teaching at Amache, CO WRA Japanese Internment Camp and the Albuquerque Indian School. His passion was his music, photography, camping and his family. He will be remembered as a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a 70-year plus member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hinman was an active member of the Walley Byam Airstream Travel Trailer club holding the office as president as well as many other offices during his membership years. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii. Cremation has taken place and a Masonic memorial service and celebration of life will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at Temple Lodge No. 6, 3801 Osuna NW, with William H. Gleason, Jr., P.M. officiating. His cremains will be scattered at the family plot in Glenwood Springs, CO at a later date. The family wishes to thank all staff members at Vista del Rio and Sandia Hospice for their loving care. Housh -- Jean Housh, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died March 29, 2002. She is survived by sons, Terry Housh of Canyon, TX, and James Housh of Albuquerque; daughter, Carol Byrne of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jayme, Julie, Jenny, Daniel, Shane, Luke, and Ryon; great-grandchildren, Cherokee, Cheyenne, and Dakota. Her husband, Raymond E. Housh preceded her in death. Jean graduated from high school in Boise, Idaho and was a collage graduate from Chadron State College in Nebraska. She came to Albuquerque in 1965 from Hay Springs, Nebraska and worked as a secretary to the chief accountant at KOB-TV for 10 years. Mrs. Housh was an avid bowler for 35 years, bowling in several local leagues. She was a member of the Albuquerque Woman's Bowling Association for 25 years and served on the Board of Directors. Jean was also a bowling league secretary for eight years for two senior leagues. Jean enjoyed playing cribbage and was a member of the American Cribbage Congress and the local Sandia Peggers. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and was also the church organist for 20 years in Nebraska. Memorial services will be Monday, April 1, 2002 at 10:00 am at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd.with Pastor Rick Donaho, officiating. Hults -- James W. Hults, 53, passed away March 26, 2002 surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, but moved to New Mexico at an early age. He enlisted at age 17 with the U.S. Navy (Sea Bee's & SEALs Team) September 10, 1965 and served aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt CVA42 as well as the U.S.S. Saratoga CVA60 and was honorably discharged April 30, 1970 after his final combat tour in Vietnam. Jim entered the Albuquerque Police Department Academy in July 1970. During his 20+ years, he worked as Patrol Officer, Field Investigator, Parking Control Supervisor, Traffic Analysis Supervisor, Police Reserve Coordinator/Supervisor, Training Officer, Fatal Accident Coordinator, School Crossing Guard Supervisor, Academy Instructor, Cadet Field Training Officer, but his true love was riding his Harley (M-90) 14 years as a Traffic Officer! He also taught Police Science at TV-I for several years. After retiring at the rank of Lieutenant, Jim decided to try something outside of law enforcement and wanting to spend more time with his family, went to work with his wife, Yvonne, son, Randy and father-in-law, Bill at Albuquerque Publishing Co. After a few months, Jim was offered a job with the Government and so he began his 2nd career with the Department of Veteran Affairs Police and worked for ten years until his illness deteriorated his health and he retired as Operations Manager/Captain (El Jefe). Jim dedicated 30 years of service to law enforcement and was proud of it. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved spending time at the cabin in Red River with his wife and children. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Hults and his brother-like best friend, Julian A. Duran. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Yvonne Byers Hults; children, Randy and wife, Corinna Hults, Gina Hults, Sharon Hults, James Hults, Joseph Hults and Joe Chairez; grandchildren, Andrew and Marina Chairez, Brianna, Mathew, Nicole Jamie, Tasha and Lisa Hults; mother, Grace Hults; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bill and Josie Byers; brother-in-law, Bill (Boy) Byers Jr.; special niece/goddaughter, Shanna Byers; nephew, William (Bubba) Byers; siblings, Sandy, Ann, Cathy and Joe and many other relatives and friends. Jackson -- Helyn"Tony" Jackson, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charlie Jackson of Albuquerque; daughter, Jean Reynolds and husband, Ray of Albuquerque; sons, Richard Jackson of Ridgecrest, CA and James Jackson and wife, Lisa of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Kaestner -- Stuart Collier Kaestner (August 18, 1966---March 23, 2002). Stu died after a long brain cancer illness. A local resident for 35 years, he was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and New Mexico State University. He enjoyed his work in civil engineering and appreciated the support of his colleagues at Boyle Engineering, He leaves his parents, Peter and Joanna; one brother, Steven and his wife, Kathleen and their children Evan and Beth. Koenigsberg -- Clarence Koenigsberg, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Thursday, March 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gerline Koenigsberg; son, Jerrett Koenigsberg and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Kerry Smith and husband, Patrick and Dr. Peter Koenigsberg, and great-grandchildren, Kimberly Smith and Jacob Smith, all of Albuquerque. Before moving to Albuquerque, Clarence farmed and worked as a general carpenter in Sheffield, IA for many years. He also served the church in a number of capacities, including being a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and Deacon. He was currently a member of Del Norte Baptist Church, where he worked with the Mission Building Projects in several towns throughout New Mexico helping to build and remodel churches. Services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Blvd. NE, with Rev. Francis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Maez-Sanchez -- Mrs. Oralia (Lala) Maez-Sanchez, 91, a resident of Albuquerque passed away after a short illness on March 29, 2002 with her beloved husband, daughters and grandchildren at her side. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her beloved husband of seventy-one years, Mr. Manuel Sanchez Sr.; four daughters, Gloria Chavez and husband, Vivian, Susie Sanchez and husband, Juven, Linda Baca and husband, Albert, Rose Mary Atencio and husband, Frank; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond Maez-Sanchez and Manuel Sanchez Jr; her daughter in law, Cecilia Maez; her sister, Mary Sanchez; her brother in law, Espirion Sanchez. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church, active chairwoman for the Democratic Party for many years and was known by everyone as"Big Mama." Martinez -- Edward (Eddie) A. Martinez, 45, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1985 died on Friday, March 22, 2002, east of Kingman, Arizona in an automobile accident while traveling home to his beloved family. Eddie was born in Berkeley, California, on November 1, 1956 to Edward and Tillie Martinez, both of whom have preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Lucy I. Martinez; two sons, Edward and Jazael; and two daughters, Jennifer and Veronica; his precious granddaughter, Destiny and her father, Joe Jaramillo, all of Rio Rancho, NM. Also surviving are two sisters, Alice Gonzales and husband, Fred and Gerry Sechrist all of Albuquerque, NM, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eddie was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman; he also loved to travel. Eddie will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew and loved him. Mcwhorter -- Floyd Davis McWhorter, 76, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on March 27, 2002. Mr. McWhorter was born in Paducah, TX and moved to Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from high school there in 1942. After high school, he moved to Richmond, CA and worked in the shipyards. In November 1943, he was inducted into the Navy in San Diego, CA, and he trained in the Marin Corp. During WWII, Floyd served in the South Pacific. He was in the invasion of Okinawa and then Iashina. He was transported on the USS Hope Hospital Ship to Oakland, CA. Floyd was discharged in October 1945. He moved to Oregon and later married Elizabeth Cordell in 1965. In 1966 they settled in Turlock/Denair area. He was a road constractor and between 1966 and 1974 he owned a used car lot, and between 1974 and 1989 he was in truck sales. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth McWhorter of Denair, CA; son, Floyd Michael McWhorter of Conroe, TX; daughter, Lesli Gail Taylor of Vancouver, WA; brother, Marlin McWhorter of Bishop, CA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Michael -- Raymond J. Michael, 77, left his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, March 27, 2002. Raymond is survived by his sister, Helen Michael Azar and husband, Frank of Albuquerque; his brother, Arthur Michael and wife, Jennie of Santa Fe; also, numerous nieces; and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Kaiser and Frieda Michael; sisters, Jennie Sebastian, Elizabeth Malouff and Evelyn Zlaket; and his brothers, Robert Michael and Kaiser Michael. Raymond was born on October 21, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, coming from a pioneer family that settled in Albuquerque in 1883. Raymond graduated from Albuquerque High in 1943. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a highly respected business owner in Albuquerque for over 50 years. He was owner of Raymond's Children Shop on Central Ave. and owner of Save-Way Liquor Store on Lomas Blvd. Raymond was known for his integrity, honesty, generosity, terrific sense of humor and especially his warm smile. He treated family and friends with tremendous respect and love. His nieces and nephews, who loved their ¯Uncle Raymond¯, will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Newton -- Marianne Kern Newton made her transition on Tuesday, March 26, 2002. She was born in Nashville, TN on September 21 1928 and moved to Albuquerque in 1951. During WWII she worked as an entertainer with her parents for the USO, entertaining the troops stateside. Later, she was employed as a secretary at Sandia National Laboratories. She is survived by a son, David Kern of Albuquerque. Her love for animals was a passion throughout her life, especially dogs. Those wishing to remember Marianne may so do by a contribution to Animal Humane Association, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. Scully -- Martin H. Scully, 86, a 32 year resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2002. Martin was born June 16, 1915 the son of John F. and Emily Loughran Scully in New York City, New York. Martin married Alice Mae Petroske on October 19, 1940 at Blue Point, Long Island. They settled first in Queens, New York, then in Westbury, Long Island to raise their family. Martin was a thirty year employee of the N.Y.C. Transit Authority, rising to the rank of Cable Foreman. Martin and Alice retired to Rio Rancho in 1970, becoming members of St.Thomas Aquinas Parish, charter members of the Rio Rancho Golf and Country Club. Martin also became a member of the local Lions Club. Martin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice in 1997. He is survived by his children, Patricia Riegger and husband, George of Farmingville, NY, Marilyn Scully of Rio Rancho, and Richard Scully and wife, Vicki of Arlington, TX; one sister, Mary Martin of Riverdale, NY; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his dear friend, Dorothy Drypolcher of Rio Rancho. Skipworth -- Jimmie Luciel Skipworth. I lived a good life. I understand life on earth was a cycle with a beginning and an end. I started my journey January 6, 1919 in Brownwood Texas and completed it on March 29, 2002 in my home surrounded by my loving family. I was the first born of Ora Lee Wicker Skipworth and Roy B, Skipworth. In 1922 we moved to a ranch near Dunlap NM 35 miles SW of Fort Sumner. My best friend and brother, Roy W. (Buddy) Skipworth, who died April 5, 1945 in WWII. We rode our horses wildly over the eastern plains of New Mexico like we owned every piece of land we crossed. I had another brother who I treated as if he were my very own, I loved him so -Kay Lee Skipworth of Portales, NM. Last but not least my sweet baby sister, Sarah Joan (Sue) Foster of Taos, NM. I had a time to have a family of my own with my true love and husband, Ralph Raymond Davies. My son, Col. Daniel R. Perry US Army, Ret. And wife, Irene of San Antonio, TX; Daughters, Linda Luciel Brooks and husband, David, Mary Iris Racicot, BeckyLin Tejada, Barbra Gene Whitaker and husband, Stan, all of the Albuquerque area. There is a part of me each of them. I had time to be with all of my grandchildren, Alan R. Perry, Cindy Kazala, Tammy Briscoe, Sean Brooks, JD Racicot, Angie Calbert, Kaylee and Tomi Lin Tejeda, Savannah and Abbey Whitaker; great-grandkids, Ashley Loveless, Jaushua Brisco, Jason Patrick Wallen and Patricia Calbert. I was blessed with many nieces and nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, and friends that I loved so much. I had time to work a Sears and Roebuck, hook rugs, hunt for arrow heads, read, play the piano, be a charter member of Asbury UMC (where I served as president of the WSCS), served as president of Batan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, do my crossword puzzles, travel help Ralph build a cabin on Grass Mountain, and live in our home near Stanley, New Mexico. And now it is time for me to go. I reunite with those I love, my mom, dad, brother, and brother-in-law. I had time to be Jimmie, Grammie, Aunt Jimmie, and Mom, all with the dignity and grace that God provided me. I extend a special thanks to Dr. Jeffery Sollins, Resa Schreffler CMT and Cathy Lovato, RN (Hospice). James served in WWII, was a recipient of the Bronze Star and received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps. He retired after 30 years as a Land Operations Officer and Land Appraiser, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Interior in 1985. Torres -- Margarita Lujan Torres, 91, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister entered the gates of heaven on Good Friday, March 29, 2002. Margarita was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Domingo I. Torres and her grandson, Walter R. Keller. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Torres Velarde and husband, Ray; son, Dominic Torres and wife, Esmenia; daughter, Elaine Torres Rutten and husband, Johan. Margarita leaves behind four grandsons, Jerry Velarde, Randy Velarde, Anthony Torres, and Adam Keller; one granddaughter, Margarita Keller, and eight great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited at the Newman Center at the University of New Mexico, 1815 Las Lomas Road NE., on Monday, April 1, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Bob Keller at the Newman Center at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2002. Parking available at ROTC lot at Lomas and Yale. Burial will follow at the Mt Calvary Cemetery. Wagner -- Lawrence Wagner Jr., 82, Resident of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, NM. died Monday, March 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Lawrence; a daughter, Mary; and five grandchildren. Larry was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Luncheon to follow.

Ward-Malm -- Doris (Dusty) E. Ward-Malm, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2002. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind her brother, Ret. SGM Donald E. Beebe; sister, Muriel Kuehn; children, Rebecca Horton and family, Deborah Sorrell and family, Donald (Ladd) Ward and family, John Ward and family, Douglass Ward and family, Tracy Wheeler and family, Matthew Scott Ward and family, Shannon Chamblee and family, Bridget Apodaca and family, Gretchen Ward, father of children Donald G. Ward; 29 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-children, Scott, Michelle, Kathy and Pam Malm; best loving friend, Gloria Lujan; several relatives, friends and neighbors. Services will be held at Grace Apostolic Church, 1301 3rd St. SW. in Albuquerque, on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Gilbert Apodaca Officiating. Wareham -- Richard T. Wareham, 96, died on March 24, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born October 2, 1905 on a farm in Richland County, OH, the eldest of eight children. His education ranged from a one-room school through a Ph.D. in botany from Ohio State University. He worked as an educator his entire life teaching elementary through middle school, high school, and Ohio State University. For 24 years he was an editor of science textbooks for D.C. Health & Co. in Boston, during which time he helped raise two daughters. He spent his first retirement as Professor of Biology and head of the Biology Department at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, while renovating a historic farmhouse in Jaffrey, NH. His final career was as a master of woven-seat chair caning, which he continued until after his 96th birthday. He was accompanied for 63 years by his wife, Alice D. Wareham, as they moved from Ohio to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, back to Ohio, Florida, and finally to Albuquerque to join their daughters and grandchildren. He and Alice traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and around the world. He was a member of numerous botanical, scientific and civic organizations, including the Audubon Society, garden clubs everywhere he lived, Kiwanis Clubs, Sigma Si, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Albuquerque until after his 91st birthday. He played golf on his 96th birthday. Siblings who died before him are William Wareham, Marjorie W. Durst, Eleanor W. Schmunk, Martha Wareham, and Elizabeth W. Luby. He is survived by his brother, G. Bernard Wareham of Accokeek, MD; and sister, Lois W. Peterson of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Barbara W. Friedman of Los Lunas, NM and Caroline Wareham of El Rito, NM; grandchildren, Sara, Ella and Joey Friedman; numerous in-laws, including son-in-law, Bruce Smith; and nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives all over the country will remember his relentlessly inquiring mind. His last days were spent with his family, under the care of La Vida Llena Health Care and Sandia Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial will be held at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, Albuquerque on April 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. and his ashes will be buried in the family plot in Shelby, OH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Kiwanis International, Kiwanis Club of Manzano Sunrise, C/O John Miller, 1434 San Carlos Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104, or your local garden club will be welcomed.

Young -- Phillip Samuel Young died in his home with his family near him on Tuesday, March 26, 2002. He died of pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 83. He was born in Afton, Iowa on November 4, 1918. As a child he attended school in a one room school house, and later graduated from Afton High School. He attended the University of Iowa for several semesters before returning home to the farm with his father. He married Iris Tyler of Afton in 1942. They made their home alternately in Iowa and Albuquerque until they settled in New Mexico in 1954. Phil was a gifted gardener, and carried his ambitions to the very end, evidenced by his desire to plant a garden this spring. Just last year he sold a bumper crop of organically grown tomatoes at the Growers Market at the Fire Station in the Village of Los Ranchos, on Rio Grande Boulevard. He managed the LDS welfare farm in Grants, NM from 1973 to 1976. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many leadership positions over the years. He leaves many friends from the LDS Church. His career in Engineering at Sandia Labs spanned more than two decades. Phil retired in 1982 so he and his wife, Iris, could return to Iowa to help his mother, Ethel Young farm her land and care for her until her death in 1986. He has devoted himself to countless genealogical endeavors, including volunteer work at the Genealogical Library on Haines Ave., NE. His main joy in life was his wife, children and grandchildren. Even at the very end, he expressed appreciation and happiness for them as individuals who had found joy and fulfillment in their own lives."Gramps" will be remembered with love by the following family members, brother, John (Lucille) Young; and sister, Pauline (Lynn) Parrott all of Iowa; children, Mark Lyle Young (Joylene Bailey Young) of Heidelberg, Germany; and their four children, Amanda Mefford, Lyle Young, Lindsey Young and Emily Young; Brooke Young Chancellor (George) of Bozeman, Montana; and their daughters, Summer Davidson and Heather Froggit; Devon Young Frost (Greg) of Albuquerque; and their sons, Greg Frost Jr. and Derek Swofford; and Jaynan Young Chancellor (Russ) of Logan, Utah; and their two sons, Hyrum and Ford Chancellor. Phil was preceded in death by both parents. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 29, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 Montano Blvd. NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd.
