Strasia -- John Strasia passed away on March 27, 2002 at Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad, Colorado. He was born August 14, 1918 in Trinchera, Colorado to Michele and Mary (Didero) Strasia. John was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He attended school in Hoehne. John was married to Mary Elizabeth (Cortese) in 1949 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was a rancher and farmer until he was blinded in 1957 in a farming accident. Then he became a physical therapist in 1960 and worked until 1990 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He then returned to the ranch in Trinchera. Before he was blinded he completed in calf roping and made it all the way to Madison Square Garden. He also enjoyed playing the organ and accordion. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Lucy and brothers, Mitchell and Jim. Survivors are his son, Richard and wife, Susan Strasia; daughter, Barbara and husband, Henry Valentine; brothers and sister, George, Charlie and Clarice Lynn. Visitation will be Sunday, March 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held April 1st at 12:00 p.m. noon at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow April 2nd at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Memorials can be made to Mt. San Rafael Hospital at 410 Benedicta Avenue, Trinidad, Colorado 81082. Arrangements made under the direction of the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
