Shannon -- Arthur Aaron Jay Shannon, 76, born December 14, 1925, Salina, KS, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years Anita Marie Armstrong Shannon, October 3, 1997. They moved to Albuquerque in 1973. He served in the Navy during WWII, in the Pacific Theater. He worked with the Air Force as a civil servant for 39 years. He worked with Thompson Machine until 1992. Mr. Shannon is survived by son, Steve, and fiancé, Paula Jo Barrett of Folsom, CA, daughter, Jill, and husband, Gary Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, daughter, Jane, and husband, Patrick (Kirch) French of Mesa, AZ, grandsons, Steve Gronbach and wife, Jessica of Yuma, AZ, and Scott Gronbach and wife, Tammy of Osaka, Japan; and five great-grandchildren. He is survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Ethel Geer of St. Petersburg, FL, Letia Gay of Wichita, KS, Margaret Yeagley of Salina, KS, Jack Shannon of Salina, KS, Gladys Denny of Salina, KS, David Shannon of Salina, KS, Mary Alice Knight of Fredonia, NY, Jim Shannon, deceased, Charles Shannon of Salina, KS, Clara Herbel of Salina, KS, Joe Shannon of Vidor, TX, and brother-in-law, Jack Armstrong and wife, Wilma of Wichita, KS. Lots of nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
