Helms -- "J.P." Helms, 75, a resident of Mountainair, NM, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born August 3, 1926, to Joe and Janie E. (Murphree) Helms in Elida, NM. He married his wife, Ernestene of 51 year's, September 6, 1951 in Clovis, NM. She survives him of the home, he is also survived by his sons, Joe Helms and his wife, Tracy of Texline, TX, Preston Helms of Seattle, WA; his daughter, Patsy Kingston and her husband, Red of Mountainair, NM; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leslie and Joe J.R. Helms. Jesse was a member of the American Legion in Mountainair, he was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Jesse will lie in state Tuesday April 16, 2002, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Mountainair Chapel. Services will be Wednesday, April 17, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair, NM with Pastor Don Hayhurst officiating. Pallbearers will be, Jack Green, Ray Clark, Bobby Mathews, Ben Creighton, Jr. Donald Creighton, Greg Brazil. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his lifelong friends. Burial will be at the Mountainair cemetery in Mountainair. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM.
