Arthur -- Warren H. Arthur, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, lost his battle with Parkinson's Disease April 16, 2002. He was born in Webster County, WV., November 21, 1920. Mr. Arthur is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Lee of the family home; three children, Barbara Sue, Beverly Gay, and Warren Allen (Sonny) and wife, Midge; two grandchildren, Travis Allen and Kayce Alaine Arthur. Mr. Arthur served with distinction in the US. Army First Armored Division (Old Ironsides), Fort Knox, Kentucky, from 1940-1945. He attained the rank of First Sergeant, Tank Commander, and was involved in campaigns in North Africa, Tunisia, Italy-Naples, and Arno-Rome. Mr. Arthur served his country proudly and received many citations and decorations. Among them, the European African Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, HQ First Armored Division Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and American Defense Service Medals. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to West Virginia and served in the National Guard, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1953 and Mr. Arthur served in the New Mexico National Guard from 1956 to 1962 as a Company Commander. Mr. Arthur was a valued employee of Sandia National Labs for 28 years, as a heavy equipment mechanic. A private family graveside service with military honors will be held.
