Stanfield -- Thelma Memorial services for Thelma Stanfield of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at First Methodist Church in Hobbs,with the Rev. Gorton Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington. Cremains will be buried at Grady at a later date. Mrs. Stanfield, 90, died Wednesday, May 15, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Lawrence County, Missouri. She married the Rev. Clarence L. Stanfield on Sept. 3, 1932 in Portales. Mrs. Stanfield and her husband served many Methodist churches in New Mexico and Texas and are well known all over the state. She was active in UMW and was a -member of St. Andrews Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Survivors include her husband of Hobbs; one son, David Stanfield of Edgewood; two daughters, Joyce Kemper of Hobbs and Sharron Bennett of Jonesboro, Ark; one sister, Helen Dame of Plano, TX; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
