Crabtree -- Richard D."Dick" Crabtree, 71, a resident of Torrance County for 11 years died May 18, 2002 due to Cancer. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Charlotte; sons, Jeffrey and wife, Pamela, Keith and wife, Shelly of the Dayton, Ohio area and daughter, Kelly and husband, Johnathan Butterman of Rio Rancho, NM; six grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Lambert and Joyce Cuffe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons Brian and Bruce and his parents, Wilbur and Cleo Crabtree. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, attended the University of Dayton and Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio, majoring in business. Dick worked for General Motors and American Can Co. in sales management; Mound Labs Nuclear Research Facility in Ohio as a Contracts Manager, and Cincinnati Electronics in Cincinnati, Ohio as Materials Manager. He served many years in the Fire/Rescue Service and was a life member of Torrance County District 2 VFD, retiring as Assistant Chief in July, 1998. Dick also spent many years in politics, government and civic projects. He served as Chairman of the Torrance County Republican Party in 1995 and 1996. He was honored by the New Mexico State Senate in February, 1997 for a life time of achievements and being a devoted and honorable citizen of New Mexico. Services will be private and his cremains will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family would like to express their special thanks to the Eucharistic Ministers and Father Anthony Martinez of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rio Rancho Nursing Home and Delta Hospice for all of their care and concern.
