Alarid -- Mrs. Theresa E. Alarid, 75, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 19, 2002. Mrs.Alarid is the beloved wife of 54 years to Mr. Jack Alarid. Mrs. Alarid is also survived by two daughters, Annabel Arias, Vivian Cuadra and husband Pedro; one son, Nick Alarid and wife Elaine; three sisters, Emma Valdez, Ada Luna and husband Julian, Julia Cordova and husband Amos; two brothers, Joe Velasquez and wife Judy, Fred Velasquez and wife Susan; a sisters in law, Susie Velasquez and Mary Ann Velasquez; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Barelas Kids. Mrs. Alarid is preceded in death by her son, Arnie Arias, brothers, Lawrence, Nick, Robert, Edmund and Herman Velasquez. Mrs. Alarid was a member of the Catholic Church, American Legion Womens Auxillary Post #72, Daughters of the American Revolution, Vita Tax Program, Volunteer at the Veterans Hospital, a volunteer at the Barales Senior Center, North Valley Neighborhood Association and many other associations. In leiu of flowers the family requests that contributions-donations be made to the Theresa Alarid Memorial-Scholarship Fund for the Kids of Barelas at Wells Fargo Bank, North 4th St. A visitation for Mrs. Alarid will be Thursday evening from 6:30pm until 7:00pm in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Friday morning from 10:30am until 11:00am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00am by Father Jim Suntum S.F. Baca -- Jose (Joe) Cardon Baca, 82, passed away May 16, 2002 at St. Joseph's Heart Hospital. He was born December 15, 1919 in Las Cruces, NM. He is survived by his children, Katy Baca, Virginia Kruse, Patricia Sedillo, Rose Baca, Jenny Porter, Joseph Daniel Baca, Michael Anthony and Judy Baca; grandchildren, David, Donny, Robert, Sandy, Victoria, Patrick, Simone, Angela, Christina, Brian, Eric and Marcus Anthony; great-grandson, Zachary; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a veteran of WW II and landed on Normandy Beach with the 90th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He was very proud of his service and his children learned the importance and significance of service to our country. His family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Albuquerque Manor for their love, care and compassion they showed Joe. He loved his family and could always make us laugh. Thanks, Dad. Barr -- Col. Bernice Stone Barr, U.S.A.F. (Ret.), died Saturday, May 28, 2002. Born in 1918 in Alabama, he grew up in a family of twelve in Mississippi. He joined the United States Army Air Corps graduating from Randolph AFB, Texas Flight School, class of 40C. Col. Barr flew B-17's in excess of 100 combat missions in WWII serving in both the Pacific and European theaters. He also served during the Korean War. He received his BS degree from The University of Kansas and his master's degree from The George Washington University. Col. Barr started the Air Force ROTC program at Florida State University in 1948. He completed the Army Command and General Staff School, Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, earning a certificate presented by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Col. Barr served as base commander at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico from 1961-1966 before serving as Vice Wing Commander at Tachikawa AFB, Japan during the Viet Nam conflict. In 1969, he returned to Kirtland prior to retiring in 1970. Included in the many decorations awarded to Col. Barr during his distinguished 30-year career, were the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and the French Croix de Guerre. He was a founding member of the 99th Bomb Group Historical Society and a founding member of Hope Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jane Barr; a son, The Rev. David L. Barr and wife Patsy; a daughter, Rowena Jane Ross and husband Ronald; four grandchildren, Maj. Andrew M. Barr and wife Anne, Michael C. Ross and wife Kelly, Robert S. Barr and wife Udora and Katherine J. Ross; two great-grandchildren, Madeline R. Barr and Grace A. Barr; two sisters, Blanche Cooper and Inez Conaway and husband Bob; a brother, Cedric C. Barr; and a brother-in-law, Donald J. Engelking and wife Marilyn. An Episcopal Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 22nd, 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle SE, with The Rev. Kathryn M. Newman officiating and The Rev. Suzanne H. Ebel assisting. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Brown -- Bernard F. Brown died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice on Sunday, February 3, 2002. He was born in Farmerville, Illinois, April 22, 1913. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Estelle, his brother, Willard who was killed in World War II, and his sisters, Mary Evelyn and Florence. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary (Vaden); his son, Dave and daughter-in-law, Donna of Albuquerque; his daughter, Alice Ann Ferriola and son-in -law Rick Ferriola of Ft. Myers, Florida; his grandchildren, Ben and Celia Brown, Robin Frazee, Rick and Tina Ferriola and Nichole Mottola; his great-granddaughter, Amanda; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind sisters, Eva Faye"Dinky" Herpstreith of Pawnee, Illinois, and Sister Mary Josetta of Roger Arkansas. Crabtree -- Richard D."Dick" Crabtree, 71, a resident of Torrance County for 11 years died May 18, 2002 due to Cancer. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Charlotte; sons, Jeffrey and wife, Pamela, Keith and wife, Shelly of the Dayton, Ohio area and daughter, Kelly and husband, Johnathan Butterman of Rio Rancho, NM; six grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Lambert and Joyce Cuffe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons Brian and Bruce and his parents, Wilbur and Cleo Crabtree. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, attended the University of Dayton and Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio, majoring in business. Dick worked for General Motors and American Can Co. in sales management; Mound Labs Nuclear Research Facility in Ohio as a Contracts Manager, and Cincinnati Electronics in Cincinnati, Ohio as Materials Manager. He served many years in the Fire/Rescue Service and was a life member of Torrance County District 2 VFD, retiring as Assistant Chief in July, 1998. Dick also spent many years in politics, government and civic projects. He served as Chairman of the Torrance County Republican Party in 1995 and 1996. He was honored by the New Mexico State Senate in February, 1997 for a life time of achievements and being a devoted and honorable citizen of New Mexico. Services will be private and his cremains will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family would like to express their special thanks to the Eucharistic Ministers and Father Anthony Martinez of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rio Rancho Nursing Home and Delta Hospice for all of their care and concern. Gresham -- Edna"Granny" Gresham, age 90, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Helen, Sunday, May 19, 2002. She was born on January 14, 1912 in Lexington, KY, where she lived until 1974, when she moved to Albuquerque. Granny was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family. She was always concerned about her family's well being even in her last days. Granny is survived by her children, Helen E. Kolberg -- Harvey George Kolberg, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, May 19, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Kolberg; daughter, Sharon Joy Schmitz and husband, Martin; son, James Harvey Kolberg and wife, Linda of Arlington Heights, IL; granddaughter, Jeniffer Joy Strong and husband, Curtis Skye; grandson, James Ryan Kolberg; great-grandsons, Daniel Martin Strong and Caleb Skye Strong; sister, Irene Marcy and husband, Lloyd of Sun City, AZ; nephew, David Marcy and wife, Linda of Orlando, FL; cousins, Harold Stech of Chatham, IL and Kenneth Stech of Phoenix, AZ; step son, Lee Arnold Gann of Rio Rancho, NM; step daughter, Robin Ann Hall of Lincoln, AL; and other family members in Illinois, South Dakota and Florida. Mr. Kolberg was born in Chicago, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country during WWII. Mr. Kolberg graduated from the American Institute of Banking in Chicago, IL, May 1951; North Western University School of Commerce in Evanston, IL, June 1951; and Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Jersey, June 1966. He retired after 43 years of loyal service, in 1975, from The First National Bank of Chicago, IL where he was a Vice-President. Mr. Kolberg volunteered with various service organizations; Service Corporation of Retired Executives, 1976-1991; Small Business Advisory Council, 1991-92; Score Executive in Residence, R.O. Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico; Board of Directors of Albuquerque Visiting Nurses Service Association; member of the Consumer Advisory Council with Public Service Company of New Mexico; Chairman and Treasurer of the Garfield Gospel Chapel Trustees, Albuquerque; Treasurer of the Chicago Missionary Study Class Association, Chicago, IL; and a Volunteer-on-Call with St. Joseph West Mesa Hospital, Albuquerque, retiring in June 1999. Long -- Martha H. Long, 82, born October 27, 1919, to Elizabeth and John Heisey in Lancaster County, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2002. She was a resident of Albuquerque since August 1989 and a member of Hoffmantown Church and the Golden Circle Connection Class. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Samuel B. Long; by five brothers; and one sister. She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Staller and husband, George of Albuquerque and Patricia Long, also of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Heather Heisey and husband, Leon of Pennsylvania, Kurt Staller and wife, Carrie of Texas, and Justin Marshall and wife, Karen of Florida; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Lynn and Emma Henry, both of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. Martha was an accounting clerk for HERCO in Hershey, PA for many years retiring in 1983. Martha loved spending time with her family; she also enjoyed traveling, crocheting and making craft items. Mascarenas -- Jerry Diana, 64, beloved wife, mother and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, May 19, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Mascarenas; her five children, Ted Mascarenas, Terry Mascarenas and wife Arlita, Tina Mascarenas, Tom Mascarenas and wife Mary, all of Albuquerque, and Tim Mascarenas of Ft. Sumner, NM; eight grandchildren, Nathan, James, Adam, Lucas, Marissa, Vincent, Valerie and Timothy, Jr.; and her mother, Geraldine Anderson of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed; sister, Charlene; and grandson, Matthew. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting. Mcenery -- Mary Louise McEnery, age 74, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1967 died at her home Sunday, May 19, 2002 following a 3-year courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by son, Martin J. McEnery of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Mary Catherine McEnery of Brookville, MD; four grandchildren, Helen, Maria, Margaret and Eva. Mrs. McEnery retired from American Furniture Co. after 20 plus years, she was a volunteer at St. Martin's Hospitality Center and Albuquerque Botanical Park. A reception honoring her life will be held Friday, May 24, 2002 at 3:00 pm at the Landmark Apartments 6303 Indian School Rd. NE. Following cremation her ashes will be returned to Colorado as per her request. Mcgrath -- In Loving Memory of Donald W. Miser -- Anna Federici Miser passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 18, 2002. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her family. Born Anna Katherine Sbarra in Dawson, New Mexico on May 3, 1912, she was raised in Sugarite, New Mexico. Her father was Nicola Sbarra, and her mother was Marietta Grilli, both of whom came to the United States from Licianna, Massa Carrera, Italy. In 1931, Anna graduated from Raton High School. She then completed three years of nurses¯ training at Denver General Hospital in Colorado. She married Fred J. Federici, also of Dawson, in 1932. He later became a District Judge in Raton. They had one son, Fred J. Federici, Jr. Following a divorce in 1953, Anna married Allen F. Miser in 1962. Anna and Allen attended the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Albuquerque. In 1955, Anna became Albuquerque's first female probation officer. She served with the probation office for 20 years, retiring in 1973. Anna is survived by her son, Fred; three grandchildren, Tara, Fred and Todd; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly. Anna will always be remembered for her lifelong kindness, charm and sense of humor. Prince -- Alma E. Prince, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Thursday, May 16, 2002. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Tapia -- Charles F. Tapia, 33, passed away May 18, 2002. A native of Albuquerque, he lived life to the fullest and brought joy to all who knew him. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and father. Charles was preceded in death by his grandmother Beatrice McGuinness and is survived by his wife Elena Tapia; children Felicia Tapia, Cruzita Tapia, and C.J. Tapia; mother Cruzita Tapia; father Charles McGuinness; step-father Tomas Whiting; his grandparents who raised him, Miguel and Esther Tapia; sisters Bernadette McGuinness and Virginia Gutierrez; brothers Tommy Campbell, Raymond Whiting, and Benny Garcia; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2002. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
