Renouard -- Jessie Lela (Johnson) Renouard, 96, passed away during the early morning of Wednesday, May 22, 2002. Jessie was born in Davilla, TX on November 15, 1905. She attended the Academy at Baylor Female College in Belton, TX, the University of New Mexico and graduated from the College of Saint Joseph on the Rio Grande. Jessie lived on a ranch and operated Renouard's Country Pastry Shop; but her greatest achievement was teaching which she did over a 50 year span. She taught in Texas before she was 18 at Sagerton, TX, then at Eugene Field Elementary in Albuquerque, 1929, Peñastaja, New Mexico in the late 1930s, Jemez Springs in 1940, A. Montoya in Tijeras Canyon in the late 1950s and she retired from Alvarado Elementary in 1972. Jessie was a member of First Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and local garden clubs. Jessie is the last of three sisters; and seven brothers. She also outlived her husband Blair (Happy) Renouard; and a grandson, John Keith Renouard. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Renouard and his wife, Carole; one grandson, James Jordan Renouard; many nieces and nephews; and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with James Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Jessieťs greatest joy was all of the former students that would come by and say they remembered being in her class.
