Mackel -- Romie V. Mackel, passed away on June 1, 2002 with her family members by her bedside. Romie was born in Park View, NM and raised and spent most of her life in Santa Fe, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul A. Mackel; and daughter, Marsha. She is survived by her sisters, Stella Wheeler, Bertha Lewellen and husband, Lew; her sister-in-law, Adelina Mackel; her daughters, Elizabeth Pontecorvo and husband, Joe, Kathy Sandoval, Paula Thomason and husband, George, Roberta Mackel and friend, John Cantrell, Mary Westfall and husband, Robert, Martha Andazola and husband, Ron; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson also survive her. Also, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the staff at Pickard and Laurel View Nursing Home for the care they have shown throughout the years. Visitation will begin on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
