Beeman -- Nicholas Edward Beeman born May 20, 1980 went to the Lord on June 2, 2002. He was greeted in Heaven by his grandmother, Nancy Smith; and uncle, Nick Guynn. He is survived by his parents, Carl and Donna Beeman; his sister, Kimberly Valenzuela and husband, Tommy; his brother, Justin Beeman; his aunts and uncles, Mary Polnaszek, Bobby Cross and wife, Kim, Charlie Guynn, Dawn Guynn, Kim Jarboe and husband, Danny, Brenda Smith, Beverly Duncan and Mike Beeman; numerous cousins; and his special friend, Shirley Cole; Nicholas attended West Mesa High School and recently graduated from the C.E.S.S. Program. Nicholas was a special child and we were blessed to have had him for 22 years. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known and loved him. He was our light at the end of the tunnel. A Private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the home of his aunt. Call 440-7643 for directions.

Boyden -- Hazel Lucille Boyden, 96, was a resident of Albuquerque since 1950. God called her home on Sunday, June 2, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Uhde of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, S. F. Boyden; four sons; one daughter; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters. Hazel was a member of Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Highland Senior Center. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave NE, with Rev. Molly Ashman and Rev. Lyle Reece officiating. Interment will take place at Wacousta Twp. Cemetery in Ottosen, Iowa. Chamis -- Calliope (Callie), a resident of Belen, died quietly on Saturday, June 1, 2002 due to complications from diabetes. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Stars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Callie was born in Santa Fe on April 12, 1934, moving to Las Vegas, NM when she was quite young. She attended college in Denver, Co., however, she received her degree in education from Highlands University in Las Vegas. She was a resident of Belen of almost 40 years, retiring from the Belen Consolidated school system after 33 years, where she was a PE Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director of Transportation. Preceding her in death were her father, Gust Chamis in 1993; her mother, Mamie in 1994; and her brother, John in 1986. Callie is survived by her sister, Penny also of Belen; her brother, Chris of Long Island, NY; her aunt, Mrs. C. S. Kissel of Canton, GA; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Sara Chamis of Espanola, NM; her nephew, Michael of Laurel, MD; and her extra special and close friends, Sabie and Bing Romero also of Belen. She is also survived by her many loving cousins and also leaves many close and dear friends. All services will take place at the Romero Funeral Home Chapel with a viewing held on Monday, June 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Chavez -- Steve J. Chavez passed away June 2, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was a loving son, brother, father, cousin and friend. Steve was a good person and was always willing to help anybody do anything they needed. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto Chavez; and grandparents, Francisco and Agida Chavez. Steve is survived by his mother, Ernestine Tina Chavez; children, Stephanie and Christopher; four brothers, Berto, David, Leonard, and Michael Chavez; four sisters, Rita, Sylvia, Carla, and Elizabeth Chavez; his very loving and caring aunt, Elsie Madrid; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other family and friends who will miss him. Craig -- James Dalmain Craig, 84, and a resident of the Albuquerque area for 64 years, died on Saturday, June 1, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Craig of Belen; son, Dennis Edwin Craig and wife, Kaaren of Albuquerque; daughter, Margaret Beth Eitzen of Gaithersburg, MD; five grandchildren, Kala Ruth Smith and husband, James, Brian C. Craig, Aaron K. Craig, Zachary Eitzen and Eva Eitzen; four sisters, Elizabeth McKinney, Davina Delaney, both of Albuquerque, Ruth May Clinesmith and husband, Bruce, of Port Charlotte, FL and Sarah Yoakum and husband, Randy of Las Cruces, NM; brother-in-law, N.B. Tolman and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister. James loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and being in the outdoors. Crider -- Oleta Crider passed away May 31, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 83. She was born September 7, 1918 in Farmersville, TX to Fred and Maude McCrary Pryor. She was married to George Crider in 1937 in Farmersville, TX. She was retired from Texas Instruments and Varo. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sue Crider of Albuquerque; her sister, Jaunita Sidwell of Texline, TX; two grandchildren, David Crider and Scott Crider; and one great-grandchild, Scott Crider Jr.,Services were held Monday, June 3, 2002 at the Hurst's Fielder-Baker Chapel in Farmersville, TX at 3:30 p.m. Interment followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville, TX.

Fietsch -- Franklin W. Fietsch Sr., 95, a resident of Albuquerque for six years and a former resident of Winnetka, IL, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. He is survived by his son, Franklin W. Fietsch, Jr. and wife, Julie W. of Oakland, CA; daughters, Julie F. Jensen and Susan F. Erbe, both of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Heppes Fietsch in 1995. Mr. Fietsch attended Amherst College and graduated from the University of Illinois, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He was an avid golfer and curler, and a longtime member of the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, IL. Mr. Fietsch was president of Colorprint Corporation in Chicago, IL for many years. He was a member of St. Chad Episcopal Church. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 3:30 p.m., at St. Chad Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM and a reception will follow at the church. Gonzales -- Richard J. Gonzales, 47, a resident of Los Lunas, peacefully joined our Lord surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 2, 2002. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Richard loved to fish and the outdoors. He retired from the City of Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph; and his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Ernestine Jimenez. Richard is survived by his loving wife of six years, Paula; his three beautiful children, LaVelle, Tanya, and Erica Gonzales; his mother, Connie Gonzales and her companion, Robert McBreen; his six siblings, Steve and his wife, Stephanie, Jerry and his wife, Mona Lisa, Polly Montano and her husband, Ted, Maureen Funaro and her husband, Gene, Gloria Chamberlain, and Ryan Leonski. Cremation has taken place with the utmost love for Richard's wishes. Hamm -- Darold David Hamm, devoted and loving Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Friend, passed swiftly and peacefully from this world with family by his side on June 1, 2002. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Sue and parents, David and Esther Hamm. They have greeted him at the threshold of heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who grants peace and comfort to those he has left behind. Darold is survived by his daughters, Krystal Rains, her husband, Stephen, and Kelly Wands, her husband Donald; grandchildren, Akayla, DJ, Doniesha, Jerath, Hank, Jacob, Jade, Kimber, Clint, Shamus, Tiana, and Bradon; sisters, Phyllis Flansberg and Ruth Backer; stepchildren, Amey Freeburn, Wendie Tafoya, Christopher Freeburn, Vickie Faberino and Brian Dowty; nephews, Joel and Regan; and nieces, Hollie and Courtney. Mr. Hamm was a US Air Force Veteran. He continued his proud and faithful service throughout his life. Dedication and commitment to his work and co-workers exemplified his 21¯year service to Creamland Dairy, in his operations, maintenance and management responsibilities. His continued commitment as a veteran was revealed in his membership of American Legion Post 49. Originally from Dallas, Oregon, Darold became a wholehearted fan of New Mexico, which continued for over 20 years. The weather, balloons, art shows, Lobos, fishing and golf, all became part and parcel of his life. But by far, his caring and concern for all his family and friends exceeded any personal pursuit in his life. Hately -- William Franklin and Edith Avisa - Colonel (USAF, Ret) William F. and Mrs. Edith A. Hately, residents of Albuquerque for more than 32 years, died on Wednesday, 29 May 2002, and Monday, 27 May 2002, respectively. They are survived by their children, William W. Hately and wife, Jeanne, Robert R. Hately and wife, Susan, and Coral A. Koogler and husband, William; grandchildren Jessica L. Hately, William E. Hately, Theresa F. Hately, William F. Koogler, Janelle A. Koogler, P. Wade Hately, John R. Hately; and great-grandchild, Karis A. Hately. Colonel Hately is also survived by brother, Eugene Hately, and was preceded in death by parents, Dean and Bertha Hately, and sister, Barbara Griffith. Edith Hately is also survived by sister, Edna Utton and brother, Elvin Smith, and was preceded in death by parents, Orville and Avisa Smith, and brother, Wade Smith. Bill and Edith graduated from Aztec High School in 1940 and were married on December 5, 1942. After attending the University of New Mexico, Bill entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and was commissioned as a B-17 pilot, ultimately flying 28 combat missions in the European Theater before being downed over Germany and becoming a Prisoner of War. He served more than 27 distinguished years in the U.S. Air Force before going on to a second career with the U.S. Postal Service. Edith attended Chillicothe Business College and then devoted herself to her family and children. She worked later in life for both the U.S. Department of Defense and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. After retirement, Bill and Edith traveled extensively within the U.S. and Europe, enjoying many wonderful years with children, family and friends. Bill was a member of San Juan Masonic Lodge No. 25, and Edith was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 53 of Aztec, NM. Throughout life, they were devoted partners, loving parents and faithful friends. The couple will be interred together in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Luna -- Candelario Luna, 87, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Monday, June 3, 2002. Mr. Luna was born in Albuquerque on February 14, 1915 to the late Amadeo and Sofia Luna; he was a resident of San Ysidro, NM; he was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served our country during World War II. Mackel -- Romie V. Mackel, passed away on June 1, 2002 with her family members by her bedside. Romie was born in Park View, NM and raised and spent most of her life in Santa Fe, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul A. Mackel; and daughter, Marsha. She is survived by her sisters, Stella Wheeler, Bertha Lewellen and husband, Lew; her sister-in-law, Adelina Mackel; her daughters, Elizabeth Pontecorvo and husband, Joe, Kathy Sandoval, Paula Thomason and husband, George, Roberta Mackel and friend, John Cantrell, Mary Westfall and husband, Robert, Martha Andazola and husband, Ron; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson also survive her. Nazelrod -- Pamela Kay Nazelrod, 46, was born Friday, March 9, 1956. Pam passed from this earth Saturday, June 1, 2002, joining her mother and two children, Jennifer and Dylan. She is survived by her son, Paul Nazelrod of Albuquerque, NM; father, Peter E. Baldwin of Elephant Butte, NM; brother, Peter L. Baldwin and wife, Nancy of McIntosh, NM; sister, Susan Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; special cousin, Leola Fellows of Albuquerque, NM; her"adopted" daughter, Charly Huffman and son Timothee; niece, Wendy Dobbs and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Kevin Johnson of Port Neches, TX, Brian Baldwin and wife Diane of McIntosh, NM; brother, Rick Hardaway and wife, Cindy of White City, OR, and many other relatives and friends who will all miss her so very much. Parker -- Mildred J."Peg" Parker, 80, died in Albuquerque on May 26, 2002. She was born October 16, 1921, in Collingswood, NJ and had lived in Tijeras, NM since 1992. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Jane Summers, of Chery Hill, NJ, and is survived by daughters, Roseanne Davidson of Tijeras, Dorothy Mitzel of Egg Harbor Township, NM; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Peg was a retired reservationist for US Air, a member of the Rio Grande Mule & Donkey Asso. & the NM Carriage Asso. She was a lover of Jack Russell terriers and a rescuer of abused and abandonned equine animals. Wisdom The soul of Sister Mary Celestine Plotkowski journeyed to its eternal peace on Thursday, May 30, 2002 while her sisters prayed at her bedside at the provincial house in Rio Rancho, NM. Baptized Cecilia, she was born to Anthony and Lousie Malkiewicz) Plotkowski on November 10, 1905, the fourth of six children. She lost her mother at the tender age of sixteen and a year later, on June 27, 1923, entered the Felician Sisters Convent in Milwaukee, WI. Sister Celestine graduated from High School in 1929, and spent the first nine years of ministry teaching grade school children in the Chicago area. The teaching ministry found her instructing multiple grades, concluding with grades 1,2,3, and 4 in her final two years. One of the original sisters of the Chicago province, chosen to enter nurses training, she received her RN diploma from St. Anthony of Padua Hospital, in 1937. In 1939 she received her bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University in Chicago and assumed the position of the local superior, hospital administrator of the St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, IL, as well as full time nursing duties. From 1945 to 1950 she served as the provincial house infirmary administrator in Chicago. Mid-1950 found her in Corning, Iowa making preparations for the opening of Rosary Hospital, where she served as the first administrator of that new facility from 1951 to 1953. In 1953, when the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province was formed and established in Ponca City, OK, Sister Celestine served as one of the first council members as well as infirmarian, director of aspirants and high school teacher. 1959 found sister back in hospital ministry in Okarche, OK. From 1962 to 1965 she served at Yorktown Memorial Hospital as RN, and at the end of that term returned to Corning, IA as administrator, superior and RN until 1971 when she once again returned to serve in Yorktown, TX. 1980 was sisters' final move in a long chain of ministry. Sister Celestine became the administrator of the infirmary in Rio Rancho, NM, at the provincial house. She held this position for two years and until her retirement from nursing in 1988, she continued in this ministry. For the remainder of her years, sister was engaged in household tasks and in prayer ministry. Sister Celestine was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Edward and Casmir and sisters, Vanda Eicharst, Albina Lewandowski, and Anna Pietras. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Illinois. Sister had a special place in her heart for nephews, Rev. Jerome Plotkowski who ministers in Albuquerque, and who was a faithful weekly visitor until her death, and Rev. Jack Plotkowski from Chicago. Wake services will be held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary provincial house, 4210 Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, on Monday, June 3, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at the provincial house on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Sister Celestine will long be remembered for her kindness to all she encountered and helped along life's way. Her smile was always radiant and reflected the light within. Sister always had a special place in her heart for priests and her prayer for them was frequent. May the gift of peace surround her and our world. Riggs -- Hazel Louise Riggs, known to family and friends as"Jackie" passed away in the morning hours of June 1, 2002. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Pamela Wymer; her aunt, Louise Steele; her sister, Peggy Peskuski and brother-in-law, Bob Peskuski; grandson, Jason Riggs; granddaughters, Jazelle Parsons, Amber Tiffin and April Wymer; great-granddaghter, Cailyn Parsons and daughter-in-law, Hazel Riggs. Jackie was born in Cadiz, Kentucky in 1923, and moved to New Mexico in 1951. She was a fiery red head with a wacked sense of humor. She loved to fish, and she could instantly pack her bags at the mere mention of a road trip. She loved New Mexico, but Kentucky was always her home. We will miss the stories told in her gentle Southern accent. We mourn her passing, but find comfort that she has now joined her father, Jack Roach; her husband, Orval"Bill" Riggs; and her loving son, Bill Riggs. Goodbye, Mama Jack. Tapia-Herrera -- Tapia- Yolanda Tapia-Herrera, age 33, has gone home to be with our Lord on June 1, 2002 after a long illness. she is preceded in death by her brother, David Barela; and sister, Diane Gonzales. Yolanda is survived by her mother, Vera Bailey and father, Ron; as well as her children, Felicia Herrera and Sammy Herrera. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Angela Garcia and husband, Elmer; Manuel Barela and wife, Connie; Ernie Barela and wife, Patricia, Alex Barela, Josie Rivera; sister-in-law, Vivian Barela; step-brother, Stewart Bailey and wife, Renee. Walker -- Lt. Col. Donald N. Walker Sr., USAF, Ret., 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died Saturday, June 1, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Walker of Albuquerque; sons, Donald N. Walker, Jr. and wife, Cherry of Frisco, TX and Mark C. Walker and wife, Wendy of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Trevor and Cade Walker; brother, Allan D. Walker and wife, Joan of Goshen, CT; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Col. Walker graduated from Woodstock Academy High School in Hartford, CT in 1954. He received his Bachelor degree from Dartmouth College in 1958 and his Masters degree in 1970 from San Diego State University. Col. Walker retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1986, after 28 years of service to his country. He was a member of American Legion, Post 49. Cremation has taken place and memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Wall -- Betty M. Wall, beloved wife and mother, age 75, died peacefully at her home on June 2, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph A. Wall; her daughter, Janet Garcia and husband, Tom of Albuquerque; grandson, Michael P. Hoffman of Seattle, WA; brother, Miles B.
