Furby -- Robert E. Furby, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, died Saturday, June 22, 2002. Born in Greenfield, Missouri, his family moved to Clovis, New Mexico, when he was a small child. He attended the University of New Mexico and was in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During World War II, he held the rank of T/Sgt. in the USAAF and was assigned to the 97th Bomb Group stationed in Italy. He worked for the Clinton P. Anderson Insurance Agency as an account representative and later in the Surety Department until he retired to play golf. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Arlene; his parents, Ralph D. Furby and Mae Evans Furby; and brother, Frank E. Furby. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Kortkamp and her husband, Karl; and three grandchildren, Katie, Kevin and Kerry. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with The Rev. Myron White, officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE, 87110. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
