Atencio -- Carmen M. Atencio, 75, went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2002. She was born on April 30, 1927 in Albuquerque, NM. Carmen is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Atencio, daughter, Rosalie Armenta and son-in-law, Herman Sedillo. She is survived by her sons, Charlie Atencio and wife, Louise, Edward Atencio and wife, Eva, Teddy Atencio, Ernest Atencio and wife, Joann; daughters, Josephine Lucero and husband, Ben, Lucy Sedillo and Shirley Hines and husband, Edward; sisters, Eloisa Russell, Lucy Martinez, Virginia Chavez, Julia Martinez and Betty Torrez; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Carmen will be deeply missed by her loving family. Visitations will held on Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Monday morning at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Lucero, Eddie Hines, C.J. Atencio, Jesus Armenta, Carlos Atencio and Prudy Reed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Hines, Benito Lucero, Edward Atencio III and Raymond Sifuentes. Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. S.W. 243-5222.
