Akutagawa -- Taro Akutagawa longtime resident and businessman of Albuquerque passed away while traveling in Nevada on June 7, 2002. Private Services for family were held June 17, 2002 in memory of Taro at the Buddhist Temple in West Los Angeles. Reverend Oda a respected friend presided over ceremonies and conducted Services for Taro and his family. Taro was born September 14, 1917 in Los Angeles, CA. Taro and Tazue were married April 7, 1953. Taro relocated to New Mexico where they built a place in the community and raised their family. Taro is survived by Tazue, his wife of 49 years; daughter, Keiko Lambert and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Ryotaro; daughter, Denise Daly and husband, Tim; and grandchildren, Kyle and Shannon; sons, Yoshiro Akutagawa and Hugh Akutagawa. September 14, 2002 marks the 100th day Memorial as celebrated in Buddhist teachings. This commemorates a day to gather and express our gratitude and remembrance of a loved one; this also marks Taro's birth. His life and spirit has touched so many and will be remembered, we will miss him and love him always. A Memorial Dedication will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. in memory of Taro Akutagawa. His family welcomes friends and family to join in a memorial dedication of a pine tree and memorial bench. The service will be held at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course, Osuna Rd. and Louisiana, on the 8th tee box.
