Renfro -- Everett"Beans" Renfro (93) died Wednesday, September 18, 2002. He was born on a homestead in Barton, New Mexico on March 26, 1909. He moved with his family to Albuquerque where as a boy he sold pinto beans on the street corner and earned the nickname"Beans." He was a letterman in football at both Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico. He traveled with the UNM Lobo Football Team on their first airplane trip to a game in Los Angeles, CA. He served with the Army Air Corps in Saipan during World War II. He married Frances Russell of Peoria, Illinois in 1945 after a romantic courtship in the Jemez Mountains. He worked for the A.T. & S.F. Railroad for 39 years. He was on the cradle role at Central United Methodist Church, was a member of the Albuquerque Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Railroad Retirement Association. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances; four daughters, Lura, Carol, Illene and Sally; two granddaughters, Leslie and Christina McMurtry and one surviving sister, Lois Ream, all of Albuquerque. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. A service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Central United Methodist Church. Internment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Park Service, Animal Humane Association of New Mexico or the UNM Alumni Lettermen.
