Martin -- Donald J. Martin passed away on December 1, 2002, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eunice (Freddie) Martin; son, Steven Martin; daughter, Laurie McKeough and husband, Sean; daughter, Heidi Martin; son, Terry Sciarrotta and wife, Patty of California; four grandchildren, Matt Berg and wife, Anna; Maura McKeough; Benjamin Martin and Mitchell Martin; and one great-grandchild, Kierstin Berg. A Veteran of three wars, he entered the US Army in 1943 and was on active duty for 33 years. He retired on September 1, 1976 as Commander of the Albuquerque Field Office, 901st Military Intelligence Detachment, US Army Intelligence Agency, which provided dedicated intelligence support to the Defense Nuclear Agency. Throughout his military career he served 132 months oversees and served in significantly important intelligence assignments in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. In his 33 years of military service, he was awarded numerous medals including the Legion of Merit, the nation's second highest award for exceptional meritorious service. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Friends are invited to a gathering at the family home in celebration and remembrance of his life, on Sunday, December 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
