Jr. -- John A. Adams, Jr., longtime resident of Jemez Springs and Rio Rancho, passed away August 25, 2001. He was born in Albuquerque March 27, 1915, to John A. Adams and Helen Belle Shields. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille; and three children, Tom Adams and wife, Pat of Missoula, Montana, John A. Adams III of Albany, Georgia, and devoted daughter, Lucille Adams Dillon, and John Dillon of Taos, NM. He is survived by two brothers, Paul Adams of Jemez Springs, and Fred Adams of Albuquerque. Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Chris Adams and wife, Korina, Kathy Adams, their mother, Frocene; and three great-grandchildren, Sloane, Mackenzie, and Debra Schock and son. John spent his career as a civil engineer with 39 years of service in the U.S. Forest Service. He was a lifetime conservationist. He was a lifetime member of the Jemez Community Presbyterian Church, Jemez Springs, NM, which was founded by his grandfather, Rev. John M. Shields. He was an American Society of Civil Engineers, awarded Fellow and Lifetime Member of Elks Lodge #461. He also served in the Army Corps of Engineers and the Army Reserve. A Memorial Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Jemez Springs, NM on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Presbyterian Church in Jemez Springs.
