Kuester -- Mary Beth Schwark Kuester passed away on August 16, 2001 at her home in Rio Rancho after a long battle with cancer. Mary Beth was born on January 2, 1954 to Martin and Adelaide Schulte Schwark in Mt. Clemens, MI. Mary Beth was so sweet, so cheerful and earnest with everyone she knew, yet she had a passion for life burning inside her and the blessing of an artist's eye. Her paintings were filled with life and the brilliant light of the southwest. Consumed by her painting and attending diligently to her family, she was well on her way to national recognition as a painter. Then in 1993, the shocking diagnosis of breast cancer fell suddenly into her life. The past eight years have been a monumental struggle to balance a life of creative and family productivity with many, many therapies of promise to stave off the growing threat and these eight years contain a testament of her courage, dignity and faithfulness to God throughout. As Scriptures say, "here in the earth you shall have tribulation," and our dearest Mary Beth endured that long hard tribulation with a smile for others and hope in her heart. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. Mary Beth was preceded in death by her mother, Adelaide Schwark. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Kuester of Rio Rancho; her precious daughter, Aimee Kuester of Albuquerque; her father, Martin Schwark of Ft. Myers, FL; sisters, Sr. Joel Marie of NY, Monica Starkey of AZ, Amy Jo Dudley of FL; brothers, Greg Schwark of MI, Geoffrey Schwark of AK, Jerome Schwark of PA, and Joel Schwark of MI. Visitation for Mary Beth will be held this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Matthews as Officiant. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Mary Beth asks that any memorial donations in her name be made to KFLQ Family Life Radio, 3801 Eubank NE., Albuquerque, NM 87111. Services under the care of Rio Rancho Funeral Home (891-9192).
