Cordova -- Richard G. Cordova, 27, a resident of Alameda, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2000. He was a member of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Parish and he worked as a carpenter for Albuquerque Drywall. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Elena. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Amadita; brothers, John and Gerald; sister, Valerie; grandparents, Ray and Eva Cordova, and Valentine Sanchez; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rosary will be held at Alameda Mortuary, Sunday and Monday, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Parish at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Juan Montoya, Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Pete Montoya, Jessie Montano, Joe Cordova, Roger Sanchez, Rick Sanchez and Isaac Montano. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Cordova and Chris Cordova.

Daniels -- Bill Daniels, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, CA. Daniels, widely known as"The Father of Cable Television" was surrounded by his family and close friends at the time of his death, including his brother, Jack Daniels of Albuquerque. Bill was born in Greeley, CO, in 1920 and came to Hobbs, New Mexico with his family in 1936. In 1947, he and his brother, Jack joined their father in Daniels Insurance Agency, which continues today with offices in Hobbs, Albq., and Santa Fe. He was a decorated Navy pilot in WWII and a veteran of the Korean War. In the early 1950's, Bill left New Mexico for Wyoming, where he established his first Cable system and later returned to Colorado, where he built Daniels And Associates now a premier cable brokerage firm. In addition to his well-known career as a Cable entrepreneur, Daniels also ventured into the world of professional sports. He owned the Utah Stars in the 70's, sponsored a race car at the Indy 500, was partners with a heavyweight fighter, and at the time of his death held a minority interest in the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1989, he formed Prime Network. One of his proudest accomplishments was the establishment of the Young Americans Bank in 1988. The bank helped teach kids the free enterprise system and is the only one of its kind in the country. Bill was widely known in recent years for his generous philanthropy, including contributions to the University of Denver, New Mexico Military Institute, and the College of the Southwest in Hobbs. In 1999, the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver was named in his honor. At the beginning of the new century, Daniels announced that he was leaving more than $1 Billion to create the Daniels Charitable Fund for scholarships, care for the homeless and disabled, and other causes. Daniels was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob, in 1948; his mother, Adele, in 1987; his sisters, Bobette, in 1973, and Dottie, in 1985. He is survived by his brother, Jack and wife, Peach of Albuquerque. He was an inspiration to his family, including his nieces, Diane Denish of Albuquerque, Dana Reaud of Beaumont, TX; and nephews, Bob Daniels of Albuquerque, Mike, Bob and Pat Tinley, and their families. He will be lovingly remembered for the lessons he taught us and for his generosity to people around him--from the janitor to the CEO. Memorial services will be held in Denver, CO, Hobbs, NM and Carlsbad, CA.

Davies -- James L. Davies, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Friday, February 25, 2000 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arnetta; and their three children, LaMerlis Wolf and husband, Ben of Carrollton, TX, Linda Strascina and husband, Peter, and Richard Davies, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Benny Wolf and wife, Michelle, Vincent Wolf and wife, Yvonne, Phillip Wolf and wife, Patience, all of Dallas, TX, Tony Vincent Strascina and wife, Linda of New York City, Francesca Strascina-Rieb and husband, Brian of Albuquerque; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Wolf and Jeremiah Wolf; four brothers and three sisters of James' original 13 siblings, all of the Ohio and Indiana areas. James was born into a farming family near Dillsboro, IN in 1920. He joined the Navy in 1940 and served as a First Class Gunners Mate aboard the Legendary USS Yorktown at the Battle of Midway. Both James and his younger brother, Harold, were on board the Yorktown when the ship went down under Japanese attack in the South Pacific on June 4, 1942. The two brothers only learned of each other's surviving the battle after being shipped back to the States some weeks later. After serving in the Navy for six years, James moved his family to Cincinnati, OH and later to Albuquerque where he ran his own carpentry and contracting business for nearly forty years. He will always be in the thoughts, prayers, and memories of his family and countless friends and acquaintances whose lives he has touched. Immediate family and close friends attended a memorial service and burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday. Dickerson -- Julius Paul (Tiny) Dickerson, 71, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died Thursday, March 9, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Sue Ralston and husband, Thomas of Albuquerque; step-son, James Milton Higgins of California; grandchildren, Jeannette Kay Stanich and husband, Zion and Ginger Louise Brown, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Terry Isaac Brown, Thomas Isaiah Brown, Tyler Israel Brown, Ralston Keith Stanich, all of Albuquerque; and sister-in-law, Leona Dickerson of Forney, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Elaine Dickerson, son, Joseph Michael Dickerson; and daughter, Linda Kae Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God and he was most recently attending Bethel Heritage Church. He formerly managed the Diamond Shamrock service station at Louisiana and Trumbull and later owned and operated Tiny's Automotive. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, March 13, 2000, 7:00 p.m., at Bethel Heritage Church, 7800 Holbrook NE, with Glen Johnston, Walter Kaye and Reggie Greene officiating. Ellis -- Ada Ellis, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque, born in Kansas, died March 10, 2000 in her home. She is survived by her niece, Geri E. Davidson and her great-niece, Linda Latimer. A celebration of Ada's life will be held March 22, 2000 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in her home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to any Animal Humane Association. Franchini -- Oreste J."Rusty" Franchini, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, 83, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, March 10, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Lynne Peckinpaugh and husband, Dennis; granddaughter, Michele Peckinpaugh and Anthony Velarde, all of Albuquerque; grandson, David Peckinpaugh and wife, Maureen Tansey of St. Johnsbury, VT; sister, Jeanette Devoti and husband, Frank; sister-in-law, Mickey Franchini, all of Albuquerque and several nieces, nephews and special friends. Mr. Franchini was preceded in death 14 days prior by his wife, Rose D. Franchini; and brothers, Frank Franchini and Remo Franchini; and parents, Ovidio and Argia Franchini. He was formerly a co-owner of Franchini Brothers Delicatessen and Catering at Lomas and University, which was treasured by family, friends and patrons for many decades. Mr. Franchini was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was in the European Theatre and was a Sgt. Major in a Combat Engineer Battalion. Mr. Franchini was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was also a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society; Knights of Columbus; Elks Lodge; UNM alumni where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity; and ItalAmer Men's Club. Gabbard -- Myrtle Irene Gabbard, widow of James C. Gabbard Sr., died in her home on March 9, 2000. She is survived by her son, James C. Gabbard Jr.; and daughters, Sheryl L. Brewer and Laurence (Laurie) Coates; brother, Earl Thomas of Washington, DC; sister, Alene Martinez of Anadarko, OK; grandchildren, Edward (Eddie) Brewer IV, Rachel Mirelse; and her most loved and cherished great-grandchildren, Mekala Mirelse and Jaiden Isiah Brewer. Mrs. Gabbard, originally from Anadarko, OK, and her late husband, both federal careerist made Albuquerque their home. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Green -- Pearl T. Green, 87, an Albuquerque resident since 1975, died Friday, March 10, 2000. Mrs. Green is survived by her husband of 63 years, Homer D. Green of Albuquerque; son, Homer D. Green, Jr. of Albuquerque; daughter, Marjorie E. Lynch and husband, Brendan of Calverton, MD; grandchildren, Kelly Davenport and husband, Jeff, of Baltimore, MD, Kimberly Scull and husband, Brian of Silver Spring, MD, Daniel P. Lynch of Columbia, MD, Sean T. Lynch and wife, Jennifer Lavan of Bethesda, MD and Erin C. Taylor and husband, Brice of Germantown, MD; great-grandchildren, Nathan Treichel, Brendan Davenport, Daniel Scull, Amanda Scull, Kyle Taylor and Paige Taylor; brother, Ben Taylor of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Green was a graduate of Haskell College in Lawrence, KS. She began her career with the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Window Rock, AZ, subsequently retiring from the BIA in 1975 in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Desert Rose Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and of the Daughters of the Nile in Albuquerque and of the Tall Cedar-Cedarettes in Hyattsville, MD. Grogan -- George M. Grogan, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 9, 2000. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 38th Infantry (Indianhead Division) during the Korean War. He was awarded four Purple Hearts, a POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United National Service Medal, and two Combat Infantry Badges. George was also a member of the D.A.V. He was a beloved husband and father, and will dearly be missed. He is survived by his wife, Nanabah G. Grogan of Albuquerque; daughter, Navida Grogan of Albuquerque; son, Michael R. Grogan and wife, Nadine of Chicago, IL; and grandsons, Dakota C'de Baca-Grogan, Aviz Golan and Nadaz Golan. Hanrahan -- In loving memory of Walter James Hanrahan, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976.
