Padilla -- Claude Padilla, Jr., 61, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, March 11, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Genevieve M. Padilla; sons, Kenneth"K.G." Padilla and wife, Darlene and Charles David Padilla; daughters, Margaret Juliette Saiz and husband, DeWayne all of Albuquerque and Tracy Louise Bormann and husband, Steven of Newnan, GA; 15 grandchildren, Claude, Genevieve, Charles, Peter Juan de Dios, DeWayne, Rachel, David, Cruz, Domenic, Rosalie, Zachary, Jovon, Jacob, Selma and Shalamar; sisters, Carmen Cotinolla of Albuquerque and Sandra Padilla of California; two brothers, Kenneth Padilla and wife, June and Dwight Padilla and wife, Marie all of California. Claude was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree). Claude was a loving kind man"Mr. Wonderful" who was loved by all. He served his country proudly for 20 years in the US Navy with seven tours in Vietnam. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 15, 20001, 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel.

Romero -- Mela Romero, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for over 24 years, died Saturday, March 10, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Romero and wife, Virginia of Belen, Charles Romero of Glendale, CA, and Gene Romero and wife, Shirley of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; and special nieces and nephew and good friends, Celia, Peggy and Mike. She was preceded in death by husband, Nash Romero in 1978 and her parents, Juan Martinez and Piedad Otero. Mela was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 15, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated on Friday March 16, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption, Lomas and Tennessee. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas blvd. NE, Thursday, March 15, 2001, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mora -- Manuel A. Mora, 49, passed away March 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Annette Cordova and husband, Charles; son, Victor; two grandchildren, Charles and Sophia; his mother, Rosie Duran; brothers, Herb and Herman Duran; sister, Linda Wheelock and husband, Neal; special niece, Josephine War and numerous nieces, nephews and family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2001. Weidman -- Barry Charles Weidman, born April 21, 1951, died March 9, 2001. My dearest handsome and always smiling brother, Barry, above all I Love You! I love you with the heart so overwhelmed with losing you. You're now with mom, dad and our sister, Penny, and you have left your fear and pain behind. I can see you smiling again and so Barry though my heart is breaking I smile here for you, my brother. Please tell mom to feel what is in my heart for her. For you and I have a guardian angel on high with nothing to do, so I give to you and you gave to me love forever true. Bruington -- Alfred Eugene "Gene" Bruington, 87, passed away in Albuquerque Saturday, February 24, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. He was born on November 27, 1913 in Wichita Falls, TX to George H. and Rowena Bruington. He is survived by his children, Stephanie Segura and husband, Floyd of White Rock, Fay Beals and husband, Bard of Albuquerque, and Terry E. Bruington and wife, Dwayla of Gilbert, AZ; six grandchildren; brothers, George Bruington of Albuquerque, John Bruington and wife, Flo of Albuquerque, and Charles Bruington and wife, Dorothy of Kingman, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Marjorie (Terry) Bruington; his parents; his brothers, James, Robert, and Grafton Bruington; sister, Rowena Sherwood; and an infant brother and sister. Gene was raised near Santa Fe, NM and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1932. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and rose to the rank of Major while serving in the China-Burma-India Theater during WWII and in the Korean War. Gene was honorably discharged in 1953 and was employed by the Zia Company in Los Alamos from 1953 to 1979. He was a member of the church of Christ congregations in Los Alamos and in Santa Fe. A once avid fisherman and lover of the great outdoors, Gene always expressed that any day could be better if one was on a mountain stream or in the woods. He was also a passionate"collector of stuff". After his retirement, he and Helen moved to Santa Fe and lived there for 20 years. In 1999, he moved to Albuquerque to live with his much loved older brother, George, who took the most marvelous care of him for almost the last two years of Gene's life. They were quite a team. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving and wonderful care given to Gene by the staff at the Albuquerque Manor Nursing Care facility during the last days of his life. Your kindness will always be remembered. Because of Gene's great passion to help disadvantaged/disabled children and adults, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Children's Home, Manuelito Navajo Children's Home in Gallup, Albuquerque Help for the Homeless or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Interment of cremains will take place Monday, March 12, 2001, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Radisson in Santa Fe.

Nauta -- Barbara J. Nauta, 66, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 5, 2001. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Diana Lynn Braswell and husband, Danny of Montpelier, VA and Cheryl Elaine Wallace and husband, Danny of Albuquerque; son, Ron Nauta of Pojuaque, NM; grandchildren, Shiela, Ronnie, Ben, Stephanie, and Alysa; mother, Zelma Combest and sisters, Donna Schiller and Billie Key. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Services were held Thursday, March 8, 2001. Memorial contributions may be made to UNM Hospice, 4001 Indian School, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
