Romero -- Luciano Romero, 90, a long time resident of Belen, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2001 after a long illness. Born in Las Nutrias, NM to Julian and Cornelia Romero on December 27, 1910. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He retired from the State Highway Department and was a well known area farmer and rancher in Valencia County for many years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Amalia in 1989. Luciano is survived by his loving daughter, Criselda Garley and her husband, Clifford of Los Lunas; four grandchildren; Kenneth of Santa Fe; Kevin and his wife, Katrina of Valencia; Karol of Portales; and Kimberly of Belize, Central America; two great grandsons: Blaine and Dustin of Los Lunas; one brother, Amadeo Romero and his wife, Margie; three sisters, Frances"Kika" Sanchez; Cipri Padilla and her husband, Adam; and Fela Duran, all of Albuquerque; and one sister-in-law, Adelica Esquibel of Barstow, CA. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Monday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth and Kevin Garley, Pat Romero, Michael Chavez, Bobby Padilla, and Anselmo Cordova. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, NM.

Moya -- 1954-2001. Ramon Moya, also lovingly known as 'Uncs", 47, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Thursday June 7, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Jesus and Manuelita Moya; his sisters, Josephine Trillo and husband, Jose, Margaret Moya, Jessie Vallejos and husband, Raymond, and Mary Lou Sandoval and her husband, Thomas; his brothers, Placido Price and wife, Isabel and George Price and wife, Mary Ann; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. led by his aunt, Nora Moya. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday June 11, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Father Albert Gallegos officiating. Burial will follow in the Peralta Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at their home located at 54 Peralta Blvd. Pallbearers will be Billy Chavez, Kevin Chavez, Nathaniel Davila, Andrew Price, Charles Price, and Allen Culvey. Vallejo -- Guadalupe"Grandma Lupe" Vallejo passed away June 6, 2001 at her home. She was a resident of Albuquerque for 25 years, and was the last surviving member of her family. Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe; sons, Victor, Gil and Edio; daughters, Ernestina and Minerva. She is survived by her five daughters, Carolina Avila of Albuquerque, Alva R. Paiva of Minneapolis, MN., Diana Vallejo-Reed, Graciela S. Chavez, Maria Victoria Vallejo all of Albuquerque; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other family and friends who loved and will miss her. A service will be held at Waterfall Congregation- Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 109 Waterfall Dr. SE. ( Tramway and Central), on Saturday, June 9, 2001. A viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and a service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Elder Hector Ricaldie will officiate. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. Chavez -- Pedro Chavez, 72, died Monday, June 04, 2001. Mr. Chavez is preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella Apodaca and his second wife, Lucy Martinez. He is survived by his sister, Lena Chavez of Belen, NM; and his friend, Marcella Turrieta of Bosque. He is also survived by six stepchildren, Pete Apodaca, Lillian Sanchez, JoAnn Call, Connie Nieto, Carlos Martinez, and Lucy Harris; lots of nephews and nieces; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Labors Union. Funeral Services for Mr. Chavez will be held on Wednesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Leroy Nieto, John Harris, Michael Call, Romarico Nieto, Valentino Martinez and Ruben Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Manolito Nieto, Johnathan Nieto and Joe Chavez. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Hammock -- Mary Corrine Hammock, 64, of Alpine, CA passed away on May 31, 2001 8:30 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. She was born on November 30, 1936 in Carlsbad, NM. She was united in marriage to Richard Hammock for 32 years. Corrine attend South Western College and obtained her A.A. Degree in Child Development. She continued on to San Diego State University where she graduated with a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education and a M.A. Degree in Special Education. She was determined to attain as much information in the field of education as possible to enhance her effectiveness and impact in the lives of her students. Corrine was employed by the San Diego City School District, where she taught school for 17 years and influenced the lives of hundreds of students and parents. The countless hours spent in her classroom and one on one sessions with her students testifies to her dedication to the art and science of teaching. She retired in June, 1996. Corrine's magnetic personality, vast stores of knowledge in many fields had a positive effect on the lives of all those who met her. She was open minded, always had a sympathetic ear, great communicator, fun, and an avid reader, investment and real estate savvy, she always lived life to the fullest, appreciated what all people brought to the"table of life" as her travels world wide embraced all that she stood for. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hammock; son, Jack Roybal; sisters, Angie Sandoval, Arlene Abston; and brother, Leroy Espinozo. She was preceded in death by her dad, Manuel Villalovas; mother, Caroline Sandoval; son, Timothy Roybal; and sister, Elizabeth Chavez. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hammock will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel (7500 Paseo del Norte NE) with Deacon Julian Padilla officiating. Visitation will be at the cemetery chapel from 1:30 p.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow. Riverside Cremation and Burial Services, 1520 Central Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.

Chavez -- Trini B. Chavez, 77, a resident of Los Lunas, peacefully joined the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2001. She was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church in Los Lunas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luis in 1972; daughter, Debbie in 1995 and son, Anthony in 1998. She is survived by two sons, Lito and his wife, Patsy and David and her loving grandson, Louis all of Los Lunas; two sisters, Lugie Salazar of Los Lunas and Beatrice Raimondi and her husband, Jim of Las Vegas, NV; three brothers, Julian Blea and his wife, Charlotte of Belen; Billy Blea and his wife, Rose and Joe Blea and his wife, Becky all of Los Lunas. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. at the San Antonio Catholic church in Los Lunas. Interment will take place at the Los Lentes Catholic cemetery. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, NM in charge of arrangements.

Sanchez -- Jennie R. Sanchez, 76, a long time resident of El Cerro, New Mexico died peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 in Hoonah, Alaska, surrounded by her loving daughter, son, and husband, Camilio Sanchez. She was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Valencia, NM and a member of the Sacred Heart League. She was preceded in death by her son Camilio Jr. whom died in 1968; her sister Nikki Romero; and her brother Ernest Romero. She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Camilio A. Sanchez; daughter, Jennie Garcia and husband, Greg of Hoonah, Alaska; and six sons; Robert of Arkansas, Manuel and wife, Norma of Beeville, Texas, Raymond and wife, Carol of Virginia, Dennis and wife, Cathy of Albuquerque, Steve and wife, Magdalen of Adelino, NM, and Chris and wife, Barbara of Anchorage, Alaska; her brothers, Frank Romero and wife, Frosie, Frankie Serrano; her sister, Elicia Romero, Helen Montano and husband, Lalo, Tita Chavez and husband, Johnny, Rosie Martinez and husband, Leo; her aunt and friend; Julia Benavidez. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sanchez will be held on Monday, June 4 at St. Edwins Catholic Church, 1205 Barcelona Rd in Albuquerque, where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Garcia, Steven Ben Sanchez, James Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Adam Sanchez, A Rosary for Mrs. Sanchez will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Stella Chavez with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. at St. Edwins Church.
