Myers -- Mae Beth Myers, 75, a native of Albuquerque, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Victor V, Myers of Albuquerque, her daughters, Vee Ann Miller and Vicki Dru Fraker of Denver, CO, and her son, Mark Steven Myers of Mesa, AZ. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dylan of Arizona and Jordan, Bethany, Jonathan and Anna, all of Colorado. Beth had a deep faith in Christ, and lived a life of service to others. She served in the Stephen Ministry, reaching people in crisis, through Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She ministered to women through Bible Study Fellowship for over 25 years. Beth loved children and was a gifted teacher. She helped found the early childhood program at East San Jose School and La Mesa Presbyterian Church Little School, where she touched many young lives. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Mexico. She was active in the National Association for the Education of Young Children. A memorial celebration of her life and service to the Lord will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at Academy and Moon NE. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Nevarez -- Quinn J. Nevarez, 35, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly on October 8, 2002. Quinn was born on March 13, 1967 in Germany to Jose and Dietlinde Egler Nevarez. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. Quinn had attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church and recently became a member of Eastgate Church in Albuquerque. His favorite pastime was watching old western movies and spending time with his children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Campbell. Quinn is survived by his beloved wife, Esther Nevarez of the family home; his precious children, Quinn, Jr., Jacob, and only daughter, Alina; his step-children, Frank Alire and wife, Virginia, Louis Alire, all of Albuquerque; his father, Jose Nevarez and Alicia of Albuquerque; mother, Dietlinde and husband, Alfred Reiss of Germany; grandson, Adrian; brothers, Anthony Nevarez and wife, Bernadette, Noel Nevarez, both of Albuquerque; step-brothers, Brian Campbell, Dirk Reiss; brothers-in-law, John, James, Jose, Ray; sisters-in-law, Shari, Linda, Lorraine, Denise; aunts, Sally Neal, Virginia Nevarez, Debbie Cordova, Gloria Nevarez, Ann Nevarez; uncles, Charlie Nevarez, Cruz Nevarez, Danny Nevarez, Ralph Neal, Frank Cordova; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including his loving nieces, Vanessa and Melissa; very special friends, Andrew Valenzuela, David and Stephanie Savage, Co-Madre, Anna and Steve Encinias; and his canine companion, Scar. Stevens -- Dean Stevens, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, died Saturday, October 12, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Ann Carrillo and husband, Joe, of Trinidad, CO; son, Benny Dean Stevens and wife, Ann, of Mesa, AZ; granddaughters, Keira Huckeby and husband, Michael, and Jill Mehrer and husband, Paul; three step-grandchildren, Larry and Greg Carrillo and Peggy Fason; brother, Billy Joe Stevens and wife, Margaret, of California; and his dog, Annie. Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Annie Stevens. Prior to coming to Albuquerque, he farmed and operated his own business in Muleshoe, TX. In his early years in Albuquerque he operated his own business and was involved in automotive repair and services. His interest in automobiles continued as a hobby throughout his life. Mr. Stevens retired in 1977 from Greyhound Bus Lines after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Stevens was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Kevin Owen officiating. Turner -- Betty Turner, 79, a resident of Corrales, passed away October 15, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joe D. Turner; daughter, JoAnne Crandall and husband, Bob of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Mike Crandall and wife, Shirlee of San Antonio, TX and Scott Crandall and wife, Nancy of Plano, TX; great-grandson, Brett Crandall and brother, John Stoops of Bakersfield, CA. Betty graduated from Albuquerque High School and was an avid bridge player with the Duke City Bridge Club. She was also well known for her dancing in plays and commercials while living in Seattle, Washington. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 21, 2002, 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE (off of I-25 and Martin Luther King Blvd). Viramontes -- Isabel Viramontes, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 12, 2002 at a local hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Ferrel and husband, Larry, Theresa Viramontes and Corine Harlow and husband, Harvey; son, Robert Viramontes and wife, Sharon of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lonjino Martinez of Santa Fe; and sisters, Carol Mares and husband, Jim of Vallejo, CA, Helen Janssen and husband, George of Albuquerque, Lucy Valdez and husband, Paul of Santa Fe and Gina Gimenez and husband, Dick of Napa, CA. White -- Russell B. White Jr., born June 27, 1916, passed away October 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of the family home, Helen K. White; two sons, Edwin T. White and wife, Shirley of Pueblo, CO, Steven L. White and wife, Terry; granddaughter, Dawn Olson and husband, John; great-granddaughters, Breanna Lynn and Caitlynn Michelle Olson; grandson, Douglas White and wife, Terasina and great-granddaughter, Morgan Paige all of Greeley, CO. Russell was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn White (1973). He was born and raised in Dallas, TX and has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1955. He was a member of Monte Vista Christian Church. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2002 in the chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Fred W. Dorisse officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Wiley -- Mary"Joanne" Wiley, born December 26, 1933, a lifelong resident of New Mexico passed away on October 14, 2002. She is survived by Kenneth L. Wiley of the family home in Truth or Consequences, NM; sons, Kenneth and wife, Mary Jane and sons, Brian and Chris of Albuquerque, Robert and wife, Theresa of Rio Rancho, NM; grandson, Randy; mother, Virginia Turner of Albuquerque; and sister, Virginia Shutt of Williamsburg, NM. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie D. Turner; and brothers, William R. Turner and Claude Turner. Joanne belonged to the Women of the Moose for 36 years and was a retiree of G.M.A.C. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. Amacker -- Ruth Jeanette Smith, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2002. She is survived by her three children, Frances Amacker Spallina, Jefferson Zeno Amacker, and Catherine Amacker Thomas; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great granddaughters; one step-great-great-granddaugther; and sister, Irene Cook, Jr. of Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Zeno Amacker; parents, Frances Gass Smith and Benjamin Newton Smith; sisters, Catherine Smith Schultz and Eloise Smith Legendre and stepdaughter, Margaret Amacker Bolton. Ruth worked for 20 years in the Comptroller's office at Kirtland AFB, where she received many awards for outstanding service. After her retirement from Civil Service, Ruth was very active in the Daughter's of the Nile and held several offices. Ruth also enjoyed the theater, both the Albuquerque Little Theater and the Albuquerque Light Opera. Ruth's summer months were spent entertaining her family and grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2002, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Baca -- Berardo Baca, 86, a resident of Veguita and recently of Belen Health and Care Center has left to meet his maker on Monday, October 14, 2002. He joined his wife, Ramona; his son, Rueben; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evaristo Baca; his sisters, Amalia Baca and Anuncia Chavez; his brothers, Cristobal and his wife, Ann; Domingo; and Boleslo Baca who was killed in action during WWII. He was a member of the San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita, DVA, and Hermanos de la Morada de San Juan. Berardo was a highly decorated disabled veteran of WWII. Among his decorations were the Purple Heart, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal. He also had five battle stars which he received at Bismarch-Archipelago and Luzon. Berardo is survived by his loving daughters, Dolores Cruz and her husband, Bennie of Dallas, TX; Lilly Baca of the family home in Veguita; his two sons, Gilbert and his wife, Betty; and Paul Baca, both of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Bennie Cruz and his wife, Dy., Chris and Jonathon Cruz, all of Dallas, TX, Dominic, Jared, Nicholas, and Justen Baca, all of Albuquerque; one great-granddaughter, Gabriel Cruz of Dallas, TX; one sister, Mary B. Sanchez and her husband, Felix of Belen; and three sisters-in-law, Carmen Baca, Lena Chavez, and Angie Chavez. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. All services will be held at the San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bill Sanchez officiating and interment following at the Veguita Catholic Cemetery. Charles -- Dorothy Elmore Charles was born on September 28, 1903 in Mason City, IL. She has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1928. She died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 after a few months of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie H. Elmore and John G. Elmore of Mason City, IL. Dorothy graduated from Mason City High School in 1922, attended Milikin College of Decatur, IL, graduating with a degree in music. She was a violinist, playing in the First Methodist Church Orchestra of Mason City, IL. She worked for the Central Illinois Public Service Company. She used her talent with the violin by playing in their orchestra, traveling all over Central Illinois. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Becky Kolb of Albuquerque; one grandson, Jerry Dean Rader of Abilene, TX; granddaughters, Debra Rose of Ohio and Shaney Rader of Seattle, WA; and many great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy married Gale Rader who had two children, Dean and Marion Rader, in 1928 in Mason City, IL. Dorothy and Gale had one son, Jerry Gale Rader. They have all preceded her in death, including her sister, Margaret Schuppe and her brother, Ralph Elmore, both of Springfield, IL. Dorothy married Ralph Charles in 1970, who passed away in 1990. For the last several years, she has resided with her grandson, Jerry Dean Rader in Abilene, TX. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Quester Sunday School Class, The Daughters of the Nile, Yucca Temple #74, Daughters of the American Revolution, Honored Ladies, a Life Member of Adah Chapter Eastern Star.
