Selby -- Donald Frazier Selby, 71, died on Monday, December 2, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Belhaven, NC on June 14, 1931, he was a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy for four years. He had a passion for cars and worked a long career as an automotive mechanic, eventually retiring as a journeyman automotive mechanic from the Public Service Company of New Mexico in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Harrison Selby; two sons, Matthew Harrison Selby, and Andrew Frazier Selby and wife, Lori, all of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Olivia Jane Selby of Albuquerque; one brother, Charles F. Selby Jr. and wife, Georgia of Albuquerque; three half-sisters, Carol Gulley Fast and husband, Alfred of Blaine, MN, Pamela Selby Hemmings of Chesapeake, VA, and Angela Selby Shelton and husband, James of Ramona, Ca; one half-brother, Thomas D. Selby and wife, Lahoma of Chesapeake, VA; one uncle, Johnnie E. Frazier and wife, Mary of Portsmouth, VA; one aunt, Hester"Wardie" Gibbs of Camden, SC; and many cousins, including Annie Lou Spitler and husband, West of Rio Rancho, NM. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ferdinand Selby, Sr. of Chesapeake, VA; mother, Lucretia"Lou" Frazier English of Pensacola FL; stepmother, Margaret Willey Selby of Chesapeake, VA; and stepfathers, Howard Gullley, and John English, both of Pensacola, Fl. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will truly be missed by family and friends. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Slavic -- Jane L. Slavic, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, passed away on December 4, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Joseph Slavic of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia Longerot of Albuquerque; sister, Lorraine O'Brien of New London, WI; grandson, Brad Symolon of Apache Junction, AZ; granddaughters, Fawn Ryan of Orlando, FL and Tory Moore of Queens Valley, AZ; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Casey and Ruth Goday. Mrs. Slavic was originally from Milwaukee, WI and enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, and especially being an active member of the TOPS Club. Standfier -- Sue (CoCo) Standfier born August 9, 1915, a resident of Albuquerque since the 1940's, died peacefully on December 5, 2002. Sue was a fun loving person who always had a smile and joke for all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Billie Standfier; son-in-law, Jerry Perks. Sue is survived by her daughters, Kay Perks of Albuquerque, Freddie and her husband, Jim Fudge of Carlsbad; son, Dick Standfier of Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren, Jerri Sue, Randy and Lee Fudge, Kathy and Tim Duvall, Jerry and Julie, Dan Perks, Lori and Bob Lynch, Tammy and David Beattie, Terri and Henry Latner; great-grandchildren, Jennifier and Kimber Duvall, Candice, Sean Perks, Brittany and Braden Perks, Jennifer, Chris, Brandy and Jimmy Fudge, Noah and Jonah Latner, Kyle and Nathan Beattie; and her sister, Dott Wicks of Yuma, AZ. A Memorial Service will be held at the Girard Baptist Church, 1300 Girard Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Tony Chavez officiating. Following the Service, friends are invited to a gathering at the home of Tim and Kathy Duvall in celebration, prayer and remembrance of Sue's life. Szalczinger -- Catherine"Cathey" Ellen Mead Szalczinger, was born July 23, 1954 in Albuquerque and passed away Sunday, December 1, 2002. Cathey was, and always will be, a brilliant ray of sunshine and spiritual light for all of her family. She was nicknamed"Petunia", a special and fragile flower, by her siblings. Cathey attended Manzano High School in Albuquerque and Wasatch Academy in Utah. At Wasatch, she was elected Homecoming Queen. From a very young age, Cathey loved to swim, write and she had a great deal of creative talent. Cathey was a very kind and loving person, and always full of fun. She juggled home, work and raising her son while living in Virginia and after she moved back to Albuquerque. Cathey and Joe met in Albuquerque and were married in New York in May 1995. They had fun with their speedboat and spending a lot of time at the lake. Her life was further filled with her many pets, the latest being her dearest,"Munchie". Her parents, Bruce Bundy Mead and Margaret Shirley Mead preceded her in death. She will be truly missed by"Mom", Elizabeth Toth, and"Dad", Louis Toth of New York, all of Joe's family. Cathey is survived by her loving husband, Joseph and her wonderful son, Sean Staats of Virginia. Surviving also are her siblings, Martin Mead of Colorado, Judith Ann Mead and her partner, Howard Staap, Lee Vandevender and her husband, Walt, and Mary Margaret Petty and her husband, Ralph, of Roswell. Cathey has three nephews, Michael Mead, Matthew Mead and Ben Petty; and two nieces, Wendi Whitmore and Jennifer Petty. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Clyde Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens in Santa Fe. Blackhurst -- Aaron Alexander born in Novato, CA on January 25, 1976, passed away on November 13, 2002. He is survived by his loving partner, Lissa Rosen; and five month old son, Sehth Alexander. He is also survived by his father, Richard A. Blackhurst; mother, Donna B. Messic; grandparents, H. Richard Blackhurst and Amanda; and grandmother, Fran Johnson. Aaron leaves behind a sister, Rhonda Baker and her daughter, Shene; aunts, Frances Toon, Honey Griswold, Elizabeth Blackhurst, and Fontaine Gregerson. Aaron was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnson; and aunt, Nancy Blackhurst. Aaron was extremely loved by his nine cousins and will be missed greatly by all. A Memorial to celebrate his life and to reunite family will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002, 4:00 p.m. at Park Plaza Condominiums, 1331 Park Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place.

Brennan -- A. Laverne Brennan, a former Willcox resident died December 3, 2002 in Ft. Collins, CO at the age of 70. She was born in San Angelo, TX on March 26, 1932 to Joel P. Taylor and Nina Mae Payne. She moved to Willcox in 1979 from Ft. Collins where she had been a librarian asst. at CSU. Laverne most recently moved back to Ft. Collins after the death of her husband, Harold. She was a member of the Lambda Chi Omega Sorority, Willcox Cowbelles and the Friends of the Library in Willcox. Survivors include her sons, W.T. (Benita) Brennan of Albuquerque and R.N. (Kathy) Brennan of LaPorte, CO. Also surviving is her mother, Nina Mae Taylor of Albuquerque; brother, Marshall Taylor of Noble, MO; and grandchildren, W.C. Brennan of LaPorte, CO, Sean and J.J. Brennan both of Albuquerque; preceding her in death was her husband, Harold on July 24, 2002; and her father. Cremation will take place in Ft. Burns -- Preston Edward Burns, 18, of Albuquerque, died November 28, 2002. Born in Albuquerque on October 18, 1984, Preston is survived by his loving and caring mother, Susan (Suzi) Burns; and his"Auntie B," Barbara Grothus, both of Albuquerque; uncles and aunts, Tom Grothus and Wendy Slotboom of Seattle, WA and Mike and Heidi Grothus and their children, Casey and Michelle (MEG) of Niwot, CO;"Poppa and Grandma", Ed and Margaret Grothus of Los Alamos, NM; grandmother, Ruth Davis and family of Wilmington, NC; and many members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by uncle, Ted Grothus. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Preston's longtime mentor, Bill Bordone, of Wise Men, Wise Women, for his unswerving ten-year dedication to Preston. We also wish to acknowledge Leslie and Randy Bush for their commitment to his recent successes. Carrillo -- Rudolfo"Rudy" Carrillo, September 9, 1926 - December 2, 2002. Rudy, 76, a devout Roman Catholic, left this life to be with God on December 2, 2002. Rudy was a native New Mexican and WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre, 1942-45. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Trujillo Carrillo; father and mother, Albino Carrillo and Ester Nevarez Carrillo; brothers, Joe and Albino; and sisters, Deborah and Corrine. Survivors include two sons, Albino Carrillo of Saint Paul, MN, and Rudy Carrillo of Albuquerque; one daughter, Ysela M. Carrillo, MD of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Kiara and Cruz; and many cousins and nieces; sisters, Cuca Gilliland of Redlands, CA and Dolores Rede of Las Cruces, NM. Rudy Carrillo was a graduate of Las Cruces High School and of New Mexico A&M College. After proudly serving his country, he spent much of his adult life in politics, running successfully for political office in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He was the County Clerk in Dona Ana County, and later a State Representative. He was the director of Urban Renewal in Gallup, NM. Later in life, Rudy became a successful insurance salesman while keeping up with local and state politics from his home in Albuquerque. Rudy was well known in New Mexico State Democratic circles, and worked with both lobbyists and politicians, even as he got older. Rudy will be remembered for his winning smile, charm, his way with words, and his perseverance in the face of all adversity, he never gave up. He was a truly wonderful man. A Mass and Memorial Service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002. Cemetery is located at 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Clark -- Elizabeth Joan Wilson Clark, 73, born in El Paso, TX, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, passed away on November 27, 2002. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Clark,"Grandad," who passed away in December 2001. Joan is survived by her children, Denise Sprague, Robert Clark, Christi Hatch and Julie Clark; grandchildren, Nathan, Bonnie and Joel Sprague, Jesse, Cameron, Candace and Christan Hatch, Breanna, Nicole, Michael and Sean Sly; great grandchildren, Tyler Matthew and Megan Sprague, Jamie Hatch; brother, John M. Wilson, Jr. Her joy was her family. She devoted her life to the service of her family and many others. Joan was a woman of faith who taught her family to love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a woman of refinement who gave her children and grandchildren a love for music and the arts. Joan was affectionately known as"Gammy" by those who cherished her association. Gammy and Grandad are together again! Gammy is parted from us briefly, but death has not separated us. Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taylor Ranch Chapel, 6009 Kachina NW with Bishop Daniel W. Lewis, officiating. Coch -- Emma Mae Coch, 75, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002 after a brief illness with cancer. She was a member of Northeast Church of Christ. Mrs. Coch is survived by her three daughters, Shellie Brandon, Paula Coch and Julia Holloman and husband, Roger; seven grandchildren, Tabitha, Jared and Lacee Brandon, Lindsay, Garrett and Paul Andrew Holloman, and John William Coch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Coch and infant daughter, Ginger. Services will be held Monday, December 9, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Wayne Sharp and John Phillis officiating.
