Sexton -- Col. Robert Curtis Sexton, Retired USAF, age 89, passed away January 25, 2003, at the Montebello Health Care Center in Albuquerque, where he had been a resident since 1997. He was born October 6, 1913 to Dr. Troy Curtis and Lena Broaddus Sexton in Las Cruces, NM. He attended New Mexico Military Institute and New Mexico State University, graduating in Electrical Engineering. He married Mary Carolyn Moesta December 28, 1937. He entered the Army Air Corps and completed flight school, beginning a 30 year career in the Air Force. He was a pilot during WWII and retired in Albuquerque in 1963. He worked for the City of Albuquerque in the Dept. of Environmental Health. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Sexton; daughters, Carol Bradley (Mitchell) of Heathsville, VA and Susan McNeil (Douglas) of Salt Lake City, UT; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Private Services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite charity.

Shams -- Parviz Shams-Avari, M.D, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died on Friday, January 31, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Shams-Avari of Albuquerque; son, Peter Shams-Avari and wife, Chylon of Albuquerque; daughter, Rachael Shams-Avari-Weisbard and husband, Lee of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Robert ¯Bo¯ Fleming of Albuquerque, Sarah Weisbard and Joshua Shams-Avari-DeMers both of Tucson, AZ; and brother, Richard Avari and wife, Joan of New York, NY. Staffel -- Final Farewell Anna M. StaffelThe family of Anna Marie Marchiondo Staffel wishes to deeply thank all the relatives and friends who attended her Rosary and Funeral. The family is appreciative of all the kind thoughts and prayers from relatives and friends. Anna M."George" Staffel, 54, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Santa Fe. She fought a Valiant battle with cancer. Interment took place following a Funeral Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. Anna was born in Los Alamos, NM on November 15, 1948 to Albert A."Tony" and Louise Marchiondo. She grew up and attended school in Albuquerque and graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Anna was a self-employed business woman and owner of her own accounting and tax preparation business in Santa Fe for many years. Anna was preceded in death by her father, Albert A. Marchiondo; mother, Louise D. Marchiondo; and brother, Christopher D. Marchiondo. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Edward J. Staffel; son, Erin J. and his companion, Emilee and their daughter, Haley. Anna is also survived by her brothers, Alan A. Marchiondo and his wife, Kathi and their daughter, Lisa, Vincent C. Marchiondo and his sons, Vincenzo and Carlo, David E. Marchiondo and Paul L. Marchiondo. In addition to her beloved family, Anna leaves many friends and colleagues. She was known for her expertise in business and tax law. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. May she rest in the peace of the Lord.

Stevens -- Clifford H. Stevens, age 69, passed away January 29, 2003 at the VA Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Stevens; son, Scott Stevens and his wife, Kerri; stepdaughters, Susan Bevens and her husband, Richard, April Gehring; grandchildren Heather and Ryan Gehring, Nathan and Rebekah Bevens; great-grandchildren, Joshua Bevens and Paisley Gehring; sister, Shirley Fowler and her husband, Bob; brother, Stanley Stevens and his wife, Elizabeth and Robert Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a Korean War Veteran with the Navy Reserves. His passion was flying which he did for 25 years for TWA. He loved fly fishing and traveling in his motorhome. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepard, 7834 Tennyson Street NE, Albuquerque, NM, followed by a reception. Ulrich -- M. Jean Ulrich, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Thursday, January 30, 2003. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Earle Ulrich of Sheldon, IA; and stepmother, Deloris Steyer of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Ulrich in January 1985. She was a member of the Mile Hi Optimist Club. Memorial Service will be at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. with Deacon Al McLane officiating. Cremation has taken place and private interment of her cremated remains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Vigil -- Mr. Fernando Herman Vigil, 38, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 29, 2003. Herman is survived by his parents, Florence and Art Urquidez; two sisters, Judith Quintana and husband, Jonathan, Karen Moncallo and husband, Ernest; his maternal grandmother, Ida J. Vallegos; his nieces and nephews, Jenesis and Jared Moncallo, Jena, Joshua and Jacob Quintana; his aunts, Annie Chavez, Ramona Chavez, Gloria Rogers, Mary Gutierrez and Dorothy Garcia; his uncles, Ben Vigil and Gene Vallejos. Herman was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Gabaldon Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW by Father Jose Hernandez. White -- Leslie"Les" White, 64, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, passed to the other side Friday, January 31, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shirley White of Albuquerque; daughters, Kay Shawgo and husband, Gary of Springfield, IL and Lori White of Orlando, FL; sons, Clay White and wife, Darlene of St. Francis, MN, Vince White and wife Kim, Brad White and Leslie White, all of Albuquerque; two step-daughters, Amber Workheiser and husband, Kenneth of Clovis, NM and Jessica Simpson and husband, Don of Belen, NM; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Noretta White. Les retired after 30 years with US West. He kept busy after retiring by woodworking and making Kachinas. Les was proud of his Indian heritage and was an honorary member of the Cheyenne Tribe in Montana. Woods -- David R. Woods, 55, a resident of Albuquerque, formerly of Vincennes, Indiana passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on January 31, 2003. He leaves behind his wife, Paula Woods; children, Amanda Urbaniak and husband Christopher and Mark Donoho and wife, Cara both of Colorado; brother, Thomas Woods and wife, Linda; sister, Diane Day and husband, Van both of Indiana; and grandchildren, Joseph Urbaniak, Joshua Urbaniak and Zared Donoho. He was preceded in death by his father, John Woods, mother, Lillian Woods and daughter, Jennifer Woods. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a graduate of Washburn University and was employed for 25 years with H&R Block. He was a devoted, loving husband and father. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2003, 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Zimmerman -- Bobby Lewis Zimmerman, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at home in the loving embrace of his family. He was happy and at peace when he left us, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Beecher and husband, Everett ¯Sonny¯ of Albuquerque; son, Robert Rory Zimmerman of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Cheri Lynn Zimmerman of Albuquerque; niece, Kathy Zimmerman of Virginia; and nephews, Eddie Zimmerman and Mark Zimmerman, both of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Zimmerman of Virginia. Bob was born in Bedford, VA and graduated from Bedford High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served with the 97th Signal Battalion in Germany until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. Returning to the States, Bob and his family settled in Northern California, and he began his career with GTE Lenkurt. In 1971, he was promoted and the family moved to Albuquerque, where GTE Lenkurt opened a new plant. Bob retired in 1986 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed retirement, pursuing various hobbies and interests that brought him pleasure. He was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants. Bob was also a lifetime member of the N.R.A. and an avid hunter. Services will be held Monday, February 3, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Academy Heights Ward, 1100 Montano NW. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Rory Zimmerman, Don Sampson, Murry Maxwell, Bobby Hopper, John Hopper, and Cheri Lynn Zimmerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett ¯Sonny¯ Beecher, Terry Wilkinson and Gerald Robertson. Apodaca -- Mr. Frederico Apodaca, 60, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 30, 2003. Mr. Apodaca is survived by one daughter, Veronica Rempkowski; two sons, Enrico Apodaca and Eugene Apodaca; one granddaughter, Michaela Rempkowski; one grandson, Michael Rempkowski; his mother, Mary Apodaca; two sisters, Frances Apodaca, Lita Baca and husband, John; three brothers, Ben Apodaca and wife, Lorraine, Charles Apodaca and wife, Rosemarie and Richard Apodaca; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Apodaca is preceded in death by his father, Fred Apodaca; and a son, Freddie Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Vietnam Era. A Visitation for Mr. Apodaca will be Sunday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. A final Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Savilla. A Committal Service will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Rico Apodaca, Gino Apodaca, Richard Apodaca, Charles Apodaca, Jon Paul Baca and Jason Baca.
