In the late 1940's, he went to Mexico as an inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Mexican American Commission for the Eradication of Foot and Mouth Disease. The program sent bilingual inspectors and veterinarians into Mexican cattle farms to teach ranchers about how to eradicate the disease. Many Albuquerqueans remember John during his 47 year career at then Albuquerque National Bank. John Dalbey started working at the bank as a messenger. Among his many banking jobs and positions with the bank, John became the first manager of the Coors Branch of ANB and retired as a senior vice president in marketing in 1979.
