MARTINEZ -- Eliseo Martinez , age 72. It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of Eliseo L. Martinez, a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann Martinez; their four children, Madlene (Maddie) Martinez, and her fiance, Sonny Vega, Linda Martinez-Scirone, and her husband, Joseph, David Martinez and his wife, Jamie, and Mariam Martinez-Ortega and her husband, Tony; grandchildren, Alisa D-Andrea and her husband, Greg, Jeremiah Aragon, Peter Lovato and his wife, Carla, LeAnne Lovato, Sarah and Kate Martinez, Melissa Gutierrez, Sally and Mary Jane Ortega; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Cassy, Santiago, and Zane Lee; and three sisters Emma Rivera, Frances Sanchez, and Celina Martin. A public viewing will be held on Thursday December 1, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary Chapel, a Rosary will follow. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Holy Rosary Church, Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven. LOPEZ -- Gloria Mascarenas Lopez, 74, went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2004. She was born on November 1, 1929 in Telluride, CO. She is preceded in death by Joe Mascarenas and her son, Michael Robert Mascarenas. Gloria is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Lopez; her son, Joe Mascarenas Jr. and wife, Veronica; daughters, Mary Lou Peralta and husband, Thomas, Mary Ann Mascarenas and Cathy Pohl and husband, Michael; brothers, Joe Rivera and Pete Lovato and wife, Leonora; sisters, Mela Valdez and Vangie Turrietta; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Freddie and Lawrence Lopez. Gloria is also survived by her step-children, Bruce and Mary Ann Nieto, Leroy and Patty Lucero, John and Betty Lopez, Rudy and Dorothy Lopez, Gavino and Peggy Lopez, Billy and Cathy Lopez, Lorraine Flores and Eddie "Tacho" Lopez; 27 step-grandchildren and 29 step-great-grandchildren. Gloria will be deeply missed by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, August 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. GALLEGOS -- Luciano Gallegos passed away on Monday, July 5, 2004 at the age of 86. He was a life member of the DAV Chapter 3. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, George Rivera Sr. He is survived by his brother, Johnny Gallegos; sister, Angelina Rivera; nephews and nieces, Frances Winn, Helen Romero and husband, Tony, Gloria Marquez, Jo-Ann Romero and family, Isabel Barela and husband, Joe, George Rivera, Robert Rivera, Ted Gallegos Jr., and Berlinda Gallegos. RIBERA -- Meliton U. Ribera, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Petra Ribera; sons, Milton Rivera and special friend, Helen Brown, Sam Rivera and wife, Lorraine; daughter, Helen Richards and husband, Jerry; brother, Eutimio Rivera; sister, Pita Rivera; grandchildren, Diane Richards, Keith Rivera, Donovan Rivera; Jesse Rivera and Tanya and Lewis Casias; great-grandchildren, Jesse Rivera, Jr., Elizabeth Rivera, Megan Rivera, Hannah Rivera, Madeline Rivera, Audry Gonzales and Adriana Gonzales; numerous nieces and nephews; and a faithful little Chihuahua, Ginger. Mr. Ribera was preceded in death by his parents, Placido and Antonia Ribera and siblings, Maria Varela, Carlos, Placido and Frank Rivera; great-granddaughter, Elena Maria Rivera; and sons, John and Michael Rivera. Mr. Ribera served in CC Camp prior to the military service. He was a decorated veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Ribera retired from the Veterans Administration after 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and also a member of the VFW. He fought a courageous battle of 20 years against cancer. He was a loving and devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, billiards, gardening and cooking. He shared his love for fishing with his children, grandchildren and friends. Prayer service will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., July 2, 2004, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will take place Friday at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Rivera, Donovan Rivera, Jesse Rivera, Bobby Turner, Rudy Varela and Joe Montoya. PADILLA -- Antonia (Tonita) Padilla, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 11, 2004, at the family home surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Toni graduated from Loretto Academy in 1945. She then started her long and successful banking career, which encompassed over 40 years. She started at First National Bank of Santa Fe. She also worked at Santa Fe National Bank and was one of the original employees of Capital Bank, under the direction of Ike Kalangis. Toni's career culminated in her becoming vice-president of Sunwest Bank. Toni was an extremely generous woman with her money, contributing thousands of dollars to various charities, particularly those involving hunger and children. Toni was an avid reader, bowler and she loved to gamble. She was a life-long parishioner of Cristo Rey Church and was a member of the Cristo Rey Altar Society and Union Protectiva Femenina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Cesaria Martinez Rivera and her brother, Jose Reyes Rivera. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Augustine Gallegos, Alfonso LeFebre and Joe Encinias. She is survived by her husband to whom she was married for 56 years, Antonio Jose Padilla and six children; Carmen Carrillo and husband Michael Kuhlewind, children Andrew and Michael Carrillo; Leo Padilla and children Joseph Padilla and wife Teresa Poole, Celina Varela and husband Gene, Tanya, Antonio & Matthew Padilla, Maria Padilla-Enyart and husband Steve, and daughter Lindsay Marisol; Cesaria (Cia) Tapia and children Donna Gurule & husband Mark, Bianca and Steven Barela; Ana Padilla and daughter Marisa Danielson and Carlos A. Padilla and children David, Nicole and Arianne Padilla. She also had seven (7) great-grandchildren, Samantha Gurule, Angelica Padilla, Andres Padilla. Mannie Padilla, Samantha Padilla, Amber Varela and Diego Varela. She is also survived by her brother, Matias Rivera, sister Eloyda Garcia and husband Rudy, and sisters-in-law Zoila Rivera, Rosaura Gallegos of Farmington, NM, Adelina LeFebre and Corrina Encinias. Toni had a great number of friends, relatives and colleagues who loved her and will miss her dearly. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Cristo Rey Church at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Cristo Rey Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the National Cemetery.
