BLACKWOOD -- Christopher James Blackwood, age 20, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Christopher was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to H.T. Blackwood and Deanna Palmer on January 11, 1984. The family later moved to Los Lunas where he was raised. He enjoyed playing soccer, was active in scouts, spent time building model cars as well as working on cars. He liked to bake and cook and listen to music. He was an avid outdoorsman and liked to camp, fish, and hike. He attended EG Ross Elementary School, McKinley Middle School, Belen Middle School, Los Lunas Middle School, and Los Lunas High School. Chris was active in the Los Lunas High School Drama Department. He loved life, his family and friends. Chris was a very caring and compassionate person. He was a hard worker and had just started working as security at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque. Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Harold Hardyman. Chris is survived by his mother, Deanna Palmer of Albuquerque; father, H. T. Blackwood and stepmother, Elizabeth Blackwood of Lebanon, Ohio; brother, Matthew Palmer of New Mexico; step-sister, Brittney Blackwood and half-brother, Zachary Blackwood of Lebanon, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Darlene Bennett of Los Lunas, and Don and Carol Palmer of Albuquerque; paternal grandparents, Henry and Vann Atwater of Fort Collins, CO; aunts and uncles, Doug and his wife, Elizabeth Cling, Julie Palmer, Paul and his wife, Charlotte DeMott, Merrill and his wife, Carole Robinson, Brendan and his wife, Julia Chenoweth, Donny Palmer, John and his wife, Cindy Quick, John Swarthout, Darrell and his wife, Dianne Alvey, Duane and his wife, Rose Palmer, David Hardyman, Peggy Martell, Jim Hardyman, and Danny and his wife, Jamie Palmer; and many cousins and friends. His family wishes to express their love and thanks to all those who have been a great support and for the many phone calls they have received during this difficult time. BOWE -- Samuel Edward Bowe, founder of Bowe Vending Co. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Monday, May 3, 2004 after a long illness. He was 87. Mr. Bowe was born December 12, 1916 in North Little Rock, Ark, the second oldest of six siblings born to Justice Bowe Sr., who had a daughter from a prior marriage and two daughters and three sons with second wife Rizlee Tanner Bowe. Mr. Bowe grew up on a farm in Geridge, Ark., and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He later followed a railroad job to New Mexico, where he studied foreign relations in hopes of joining the Foreign Service. The field was not open to blacks in those days, however, so Mr. Bowe invested in candy machines and founded a vending machine company. After his health began to fail three years ago, Mr. Bowe moved to southern California to be near a daughter. He is survived by a brother, Sedric Bowe, of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Ocie Perry, of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Al Bowe, of Flint, Mich.; his children, Ermadean Tyler of Urbana, Illinois, Harriett Page Edelhart of Bakersfield, Calif., Samuel Bowe Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., Linda Bowe of Albuquerque, N.M., Stephanie Colina of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lorraine Marcella Bowe of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. BRYAN -- Father Dennis Harry Bryan was born on June 23, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. He made his transition to the heavenly realms on Friday, May 7, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. Father Dennis was ordained to the Sub-deaconate on October 20, 1996, and to the Deaconate on April 6, 1997. He was ordained to the Priesthood on February 15, 1998 in the Liberal Catholic Church at Rio Rancho, NM. He was incardinated into the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch - Malabar Rite by Archbishop Richard Gundrey on October 16, 1999 in Santa Fe, NM. Father Dennis taught for the Baltimore City Public Schools, serving on many committees. Upon completion of his Masters Degree, he became a member of the staff for the Center of Human Growth and Development in the Department of Urban Affairs. He also served as principle, assistant superintendent and superintendent in public education. His college and university teaching included Morgan State University, York College of Pennsylvania, Wilmington College of Delaware, and George Washington University. Father Dennis' spiritual work included parish work in the Liberal Catholic Church - Our Lady Queen of Angles, Rio Rancho, NM, and prison chaplain at the Guadalupe County Correctional Facility at Santa Rosa, NM. He maintained spiritual formation and direction for approximately ten individuals in depth spirituality and the Mystics. Father Dennis was born to Florence and George Bryan at St. Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and was residing in Albuquerque, NM at the time of his death. There is no surviving family. Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Resurrection for Father Dennis will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Archepiscopal Chapel at 111 W. Cordova Road, Santa Fe, NM on Saturday, May 29, 2004. Archbishop Richard Gundrey will preside. This celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be for clergy and seminarians of the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch and other local clergy and guests. A service will be led by Father Jay Nelson at 4:00 p.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church at 425 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. THIS SERVICE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. It is requested that any special donations or honoraria be sent to the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch or to Sophia Divinity School at the church world wide headquarters at 111 W. FISH -- Ada Benvenuti, 94, born in Seneca Falls, NY moved to Detroit, MI where she was an honor student and captain of the field-hockey team. After La Salle Business School, she worked as an accountant and married Peter Benvenuti. Coming to Albuquerque 70 years ago on their honeymoon, they spent most of their lives here. They owned and operated the Continental Trailways Restaurant. Ada is survived by her son, Dr. James Benvenuti, M.D. and his wife, Mary; their two daughters, Angela and Molly and their families. Ada was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Robert Benvenuti, M.D. Ada is survived by his wife, Virginia and their three children, Elisa, Beth and Bert and their families. As a widow, Ada married Harry S. Fish (a widower and now deceased), a contracts lawyer for the Atomic Energy Commission. His children are Peggy, Stephen and Jeanne Marie. Ada died peacefully at the U.C.L.A. Medical Center. She had requested cremation. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 12:00 noon at Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

FLIGNER -- Oscar M. Fligner, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died May 20, 2004, after a long illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 61 years, Suzanne Schiess Cosandey Fligner; three daughters, Corinne Fligner (Mark Wener) of Seattle, WA, Denise Fligner (Terry Edwards) of Albuquerque, Sharon Fligner-Lindquist (Ray Lindquist) of Richmond, VA; and five grandchildren, Leah Wener-Fligner, Zach Wener-Fligner, Morgan Edwards-Fligner, Edward Fligner-Lindquist, and Suzi Fligner-Lindquist, He attended the University of Illinois, and graduated with distinction from the University of New Mexico in electrical engineering, where he was selected for Phi Kappa Phi. He worked as an engineer for thirty years at Sandia National Laboratories, and enjoyed travel, reading, and bridge during his retirement. A private celebration of his life will be held in June. His remains will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Special thanks to Pat Norden and the staff at Manzano del Sol for their care and kindness. GREEN -- Clarence C., 56, passed away May 22, 2004. A long time resident of Albuquerque, he loved hunting, collecting keys, and animals. He is survived by sisters; Mary Green, Ruth Enriquez and husband Jorge, brothers; Joe Green, Tommy Green and wife Carmen, David Green, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, best friend John Dubray, other family and friends who loved and will miss him. GREENLY -- Helen Mabel Greenly, 92 of New Mexico and Pennsylvania, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at her daughter's home following a brief illness. She was born February 8, 1912 in Schuyler Lake, NY, a daughter of Charles and Zula Golder. Her husband of 50 years, Theodore F. Greenly, and son, Gerald A. Greenly and stepson, Richard H. Greenly preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Ann Johnson and her family; a nephew, Larry Greenly and wife, Edith, all of Albuquerque; four sisters, Neva Barber, Ruby Sheets, Anna Chestnut and Geraldine Heeman, all of Pennsylvania; daughters-in-law, Betsy Greenly and Ordy Greenly; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Pine Center Cemetery, Pennsylvania.

GRIEGO -- Edward Ray. Mr. Edward Ray Griego, 66, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 18, 2004. Mr. Griego is the beloved husband of 40 years to Mrs. Juanita Griego. Mr. Griego is survived by two daughters, Tina Gutierrez and husband, Mike and Lisa Ann Griego; five grandchildren, Matthew and Taylor Gutierrez, Sarah and Cassaundra Lucero and Stormie Mae Griego; three brothers, Richard Griego and wife, Alice, Charles Griego and wife, Lucy, Maurice Griego and wife, Chris; one sister, Rose Lopez and husband, Dan; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Griego was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Peacetime. A visitation for Mr. Griego will be Sunday evening after 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. GRISWOLD -- Gilbert Ripley Griswold, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died late Saturday, May 15, 2004 in La Vida Llena Health Care, in Albuquerque. Mr. Griswold is survived by his daughters, Miriam Schroeder of San Diego, CA, Martha Griswold of Berkley, CA, and Annette Griswold of Greenbush, WI; four grandchildren; one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Laura Fast Griswold. Mr. Griswold was born in Greenport, NY on October 3, 1911, the middle child of Clyde and Grace Griswold. He moved to Raton, NM at the age of ten and had been a New Mexico resident ever since. G.R. Griswold received two Bachelors of Science degrees from NM Tech in the fields of mining engineering and metalurgy. During the years of 1933-39, Mr. Griswold was a survey party chief and topographic engineer with the US Geological Survey, mapping rivers, dam sites, and reservoirs in New Mexico, Utah, Idaho and Montana, as well as an assayer. He went on to the University of Utah and earned a Master of Science in metalurgy. During World War II, he served in the Army specializing in ordinance, and was discharged a full colonel in the US Army Reserve. Mr. Griswold was president of Chapman, Wood and Griswold, consulting mining engineers and geologists, with offices in Albuquerque, Australia, and Canada. Even though placer gold was his favorite ore, Mr. Griswold was involved in uranium mining since its inception and was internationally consulted on the subject. He was appointed a member of the General Technical Advisory Commission on US Coal Research. He belonged to many mining organizations and a Rotarian. Services were held Thursday, May 20, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
