Obituary for BLACKWOOD

Christopher James Blackwood, age 20, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Christopher was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to H.T. Blackwood and Deanna Palmer on January 11, 1984. The family later moved to Los Lunas where he was raised. He enjoyed playing soccer, was active in scouts, spent time building model cars as well as working on cars. He liked to bake and cook and listen to music. He was an avid outdoorsman and liked to camp, fish, and hike. He attended EG Ross Elementary School, McKinley Middle School, Belen Middle School, Los Lunas Middle School, and Los Lunas High School. Chris was active in the Los Lunas High School Drama Department. He loved life, his family and friends. Chris was a very caring and compassionate person. He was a hard worker and had just started working as security at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque. Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Harold Hardyman. Chris is survived by his mother, Deanna Palmer of Albuquerque; father, H. T. Blackwood and stepmother, Elizabeth Blackwood of Lebanon, Ohio; brother, Matthew Palmer of New Mexico; step-sister, Brittney Blackwood and half-brother, Zachary Blackwood of Lebanon, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Darlene Bennett of Los Lunas, and Don and Carol Palmer of Albuquerque; paternal grandparents, Henry and Vann Atwater of Fort Collins, CO; aunts and uncles, Doug and his wife, Elizabeth Cling, Julie Palmer, Paul and his wife, Charlotte DeMott, Merrill and his wife, Carole Robinson, Brendan and his wife, Julia Chenoweth, Donny Palmer, John and his wife, Cindy Quick, John Swarthout, Darrell and his wife, Dianne Alvey, Duane and his wife, Rose Palmer, David Hardyman, Peggy Martell, Jim Hardyman, and Danny and his wife, Jamie Palmer; and many cousins and friends. His family wishes to express their love and thanks to all those who have been a great support and for the many phone calls they have received during this difficult time. The family would like to request that donations be made toward the funeral expenses of Christopher. All services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Los Lunas on Monday, May 24, 2004 starting with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. with President Lloyd Haslett - Los Lunas Stake - presiding and Bishop Tom Justice - Belen Ward - conducting. Pallbearers will be Matthew Palmer, Chris Davidson, Matt Thomas, H.T. Blackwood, Alan Watkin, and Nick Coleman-Watkin. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
