GONZALES -- Herman Gonzales, 75, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, born in Tecolote, NM, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his brother, Julian Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales is survived by his wife, Petra Gonzales; children, Carmen Quintana and husband, Augustine, Pete Martinez and wife, Darlene, Phillip Gonzales and wife, Rhonda, Rudy Griego and wife, Rose, Paul Griego and wife, Loretta Zamora, Robert Griego, Martin Griego, and Margaret Montano, and Mark Griego; sister, Stella De La Cruz and husband, Ray; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Gonzales will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. RIVERA -- Orfelio "Rollie" Rivera, 61, born July 16, 1945 in Long Beach, California and a resident of Albuquerque passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. He is survived by his loving Wife, Sharon Rivera; Children, Rick Wyrick and wife Rita Hoy-Wyrick, Ray Wyrick and wife Tina Wyrick, Cherilie Lucero and husband Anthony Lucero, Sarah Rivera-Gall and husband Aaron Gall, Grandchildren; T.J. Salas, Charly Wyrick, Alexis Salas, Yvonne Wyrick, Austin Rivera, Chelsey Lucero, Stevie Wyrick, Cinnamon Gall, A.J. Hoy-Wyrick, AmberRay Lucero, Adopted grandchildren; Ashley Berlint, Patrick Montoya, Sisters; Margaret Lujan and husband Bobby Lujan, Kathy Rivera, Bonnie Gonzalez and husband Michael Gonzalez, sister-in-law, Joan Roberts and husband Joseph Roberts, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. RIVERA -- Gabriel M. Rivera, 45, of Santa Rosa, NM, died Sunday, November 5, 2006 while hunting west of Santa Rosa. He was born August 15, 1961 in Borger, TX the son of Secundino and Delia Rivera. Gabriel attended school at Santa Rosa where he graduated in 1979. While at Santa Rosa High School he participated and excelled in all sports. He attended college for a short time before returning to Santa Rosa in 1984 to manage the family business, Santa Rosa Lumber Company. Gabriel married Evelyn Gerhardt on December 31, 1999 in Santa Rosa. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and was an excellent carpenter who was always doing improvements on his home. He was also a loving husband, father, son, and brother. Gabriel was a past member of the Santa Rosa Fire Department. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Gabriel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Secundino and Eloisa Rivera and his paternal grandfather, David Montoya. Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn; and son, Daniel; his parents, Sec and Delia Rivera; a brother, David and wife, Yvette Rivera; sister, Catrina and husband, Frank Gallegos; and maternal grandmother, Elena Montoya, all of Santa Rosa, NM. Also surviving are his stepdaughters, Anna Lucero of Albuquerque, Sunshine and husband, Robert Zamora of Santa Rosa, and Brenda Bryant of Franklin, IN; and four step-grandchildren. His other loves were his Pomeranians, Mitzy, Negrita, Wedo, and Shira. Rosary Services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Nick Nichols and Father Anthony Bolman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Pallbearers will include Johnny Martinez, Mark Lopez, Chris Gallegos, Tony Moncayo, Rudy Salazar, Lawrence Apodaca, Raymond Zamora, Gilbert "Hoss" Sanchez, Joe Gerhardt, and Rick Rivera. ORTEGA -- Julian P. Ortega, 86, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born February 17, 1920 in Santa Rita, NM to Gregorio and Selsa (Peralta) Ortega. Julian was a miner for many years and worked as a groundskeeper for New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM where he retired after 25 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorencita Salas Ortega; a son, Richard Ortega; daughters: Magdalena Baca and Zenaida Ortega; his sisters: Cecelia Avalos, Julia Ortiz, Clara Madril, and Gregoria Armijo; two grandchildren: Maria Rivera and Jose Peto Baca III; cousin, Ephifanio Peralta; and a daughter-in-law, Flora Ortega. He is survived by his sons: Reynaldo Ortega of Albuquerque; Rudy Ortega and wife, Sylvia of Socorro; Julian Ortega Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Phoenix, AZ; Lorenzo Ortega of Albuquerque; and Gregorio Ortega of Socorro; daughters: Corene Torres and husband, Frank of Socorro; Laura Flores and husband, Anastacio of Socorro; and Marlene Rivera and husband, Jeremia of La Labocita, NM; cousins who were raised by the Ortegas: Mela Candelaria, Paul Madril Jr., and Gilbert Minitrez; 35 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. WESSGAR -- Thomas Arthur Wessgar, 18, went with the Lord on March 26, 2006. Thomas was born June 9, 1987 in Albuquerque, NM to his parents, Trinidad Wessgar and Carol Sandoval. Thomas, our fishing buddy, loved his friends and cars especially his Acura Integra GSR. Thomas and his brother, John customized the car and then drove up and down Montgomery having fun, chasing life. As a Hinkle Family Fun employee for four years, he helped young kids have fun. Just 18, yet a man, a son, a brother, an uncle, a great friend and wonderful child of God. On loan to us from up above, we wish God would have given us just a few more days. FLORES -- Stefie Flores, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006. She was born in San Jose, NM on January 14, 1937. Stefie was preceded in death by her son, Leroy and granddaughter, Alana. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Flores and Rozanne Flores; and her sons, David Flores, Michael Flores, and Mark Flores; her grandchildren, Melissa Salazar and Jonathan Salazar; great-grandchildren, Tommy Galavez and Fernando Salazar; brothers, Chris, Frank, and Rudy; sisters, Aurora, Gloria, Grace, and Rose; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was loved by all the people's lives that she touched. Stefie will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Stefie graduated from Draughn's Business College and retired from US West where she worked as a drafting engineer. CHAVEZ -- Herman. Mr. Herman Chavez went home to be with the Lord on Friday at the age of 79. He was born on October 2, 1926 in Trinidad, CO. He was a member of the Sawmill Advisory Council, an initiating member of the Sawmill Community Land Trust and a member of the Brotherhood Awareness of La Raza Unida. He is survived by his wife Maria Chavez; one son Gilbert Chavez; five daughters Laura Archuleta and husband David, Josephine Chavez, Thelma Chavez, Velma Escudero and husband Max and Marie Chavez; two sisters Lucy Gallegos and husband Rudy and Josephine Marquez and husband Antonio; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Herman will be deeply missed by all. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. SALAS -- Benito Alejandro Salas, 22, of Edgewood, NM, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Benito was born July 11, 1983 in Landstuhl, Germany to Benito and Sandra (Gauldin) Salas. Benito was a 2001 graduate from Moriarty High School. He is survived by his parents, Benny, and Sandra Salas of Edgewood, NM; a sister, Jessica Leonor Evelyn Salas of Edgewood, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jess and Bessie Gauldin; and Alejandro and Leonor Salas. All that knew and loved Benito will miss him. There will be a Rosary on Monday, January 2, 2006, and Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 7:00 p.m., at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM.
