VALDEZ -- Efren J. Valdez, age 84, was born September 26, 1921. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Efren was a US Army Veteran. He was a Paratrooper during WWII, having served in Germany. Efren went to eternal rest Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; father, Efren; step-father, Edwardo Carter, son, Michael Stephan Valdez, and sister, Esther Baca. Efren is survived by his sons, Michael Valdez and wife Jamie of England and Danny Valdez of Albuquerque ; granddaughters, Michele, Kendra, Camille, Emily, Jo Anna, Steven, Charlene and Tracy; great grandchildren, Angelica and Jeremiah; three sisters, Juanita Cox, Ruby Scott and Genevieve Montoya; three generations of nieces and nephews; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway Blvd. SE. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2005 by Louise Padilla. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with US Army Honors. Pallbearers will be Don, Ike, John, Cruz, Andrew and Wayne. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland, Eugene, Gerald, Bill Hachitt, Bruce, Anthony, Steve and David. KROENING -- Willard Walter (Bill) Kroening, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, peacefully passed away at Arbor Springs nursing home on Friday, October 28, 2005. He was an only child, born in Wausau, WI, August 7, 1913. He owned and operated a furniture manufacturing company in Milwaukee, WI before opening Kays Stools and Dinettes in Albuquerque in 1963. He moved his family from Milwaukee to Albuquerque in 1965, residing there until his death. He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha (Bert) of 53 years; sons, Willard and wife, Bonnie, of Louisville, KY; Don and wife, Tamara, of Albuquerque; Kenneth of Tustin, CA; daughter, Kathleen Dollahon, of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by devoted grandchildren, Eric Kroening and Holly Kroening of Kentucky, Kimberly Navarro, Dennis Kroening, Brett Kroening and Daniel Walker, all of Albuquerque, and Justin Kroening of Texas. Services will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE, on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. NAVARRETE -- Ernest F. Navarrete, age 85 and native of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on October 29, 2005. He was a devoted father and husband, a dedicated Ironworker from Local Union 495, a proud WWII veteran and member of American Legion Post 72, and a faithful member of St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church and Foster Grandparent Program. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia and daughter, Maura. He is survived by his children: Terry and husband, Bill Dunbar; Cecilia and husband, Ron Beauchamp; Anita, son Raul, and husband, Mike Paule; Ernest A. and wife, Joan; Elizabeth and husband, Ralph Getz; Ruben and fiancee, Lisa Jones. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a soon to be born grandchild and great grandchild; sister, Anita Velarde; and devoted sister-in-law, Carmen Navarrete. The family is especially grateful to the quality care provided by Lucy Angel from Assisted Living Services, the Vista Care Hospice doctors, nurses, CNA’s and counselors, especially nurse Stephanie Duran, and friendship of Pete Vigil from the City Senior Companion Program. Ernest will be remembered for his strong work ethic and willingness to help family and friends. A Rosary for Mr. Navarrete will be recited on Wednesday evening, November 2, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2005 also at St. Francis Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. BARTLETT -- Frank E. Bartlett Sr. 83, passed away October 29, 2005 following a long illness. This fiercely proud WWII veteran of the US Navy served in Korea, the Asiatic Pacific, and China services. He loved working with children and founded the Heights Optimist club in 1952 with a primary mission of providing help and support to children who needed it. A dedicated Optimist, he served in several leadership positions including Governor of the New Mexico, West Texas Optimist Clubs. He was preceded in death in 1965 by his beloved wife Anna Reed, who was known by all as Nancy. He missed her terribly and looked forward to being with her again. He is survived by Rowland E. and Jan Bartlett, Nancy L. and Bill Polnaszek, Stephen E. and Marcy Bartlett, Marjorie Bea Kozel, Timothy H. Bartlett, Frank E. and Mary Margaret Bartlett Jr., Jerry L. and Connie Bartlett, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. PERRY -- Karol Yvette Perry. It is with deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karol Yvette Perry on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM from cancer complications. She was 42 years old. Yvette was an Aerospace Software Engineer. Her expertise extended from the F-15 to the Space Shuttle. She was an avid gardener with talented landscaping skills. She enjoyed woodworking and photography. Throughout her life, Yvette was a skilled and gifted Athlete. She attended schools in Yuba City, CA and graduated from Ben Eielson High School in Fairbanks, AK in 1981. She earned a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Cal State, Long Beach and accomplished initial research in Graphics User Interface. Her parents, Bill and Karol Perry, her sisters Lynn Perry and family, Terry Perry Simmons and family, Bobbie Perry, and brother, Ken Perry and wife, survive her. A private family service was held at St. Chad's Church Episcopal on Saturday, October 29, 2005. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends, old and new, but cherished all. Yvette strongly loved the time she spent with her four dogs Neil, Chewy, Rue and Kia.
