HYNES -- Martin J. Hynes, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Thursday, February 12, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Aileen Hynes of Albuquerque; sons, Walter D. Boettger and wife, Carolyne of Englewood, CO and William E. Boettger and wife, Joyce of Shelby, IA; daughter, Virginia A. Bowman of Albuquerque; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Hynes was a lifelong member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He served in the US Air Force During WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Mr. Hynes was a lifetime member of PVA. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE. Services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2004, 12:30 p.m., at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor Elizabeth N. Purdum officiating. MERCURE -- MSGT Alphonse J. Mercure (USAF, Ret.), 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, passed away peacefully at Manor Care Heights Nursing Home, Friday, February 6, 2004. He is survived by his wife and partner of 30 years, Annie of Albuquerque; step-daughter Linda Ortega and husband Lee Ortega of Albuquerque; grandson Niles Lecroy, and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Floria Brophy of Florida; nephew, Jerry Brophy and wife Tina of Florida; as well as many other nieces, nephews and relatives. MSGT Mercure was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, in 1974, and son, Martin, who died in 1964 at the age of 6. He was born Thursday, March 13, 1913, in Marquette, Michigan. MSGT Mercure served in the United States Air Force from 1941 until his retirement in 1963. He received the Commendation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Silver Clasp with Loops, and Air Force longevity Service Award Ribbon with Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. He served in Civil Service from 1965 to 1979. MSGT Mercure was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a kind, generous, lovable person and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rosary will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at. French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Cremation will follow. Private interment of cremains will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. BROWN -- Mathew Arnold Brown, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1991, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2004. Mathew was born August 10, 1925 the son of Arnold Carr and Reddick Oleeh Brown in Martin County, North Carolina and attended school in Jamesville. From there he worked in the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. for about 2 years. He entered the Army in 1944 and served until 1954. He saw action in WW II, and the Korean War, and was very proud of his service. After Matt's time in the service he and his first wife Jo returned to Wisconsin. Matt owned a barbershop there until he retired. He married Violet in 1983 and they moved to Rio Rancho by Vi's daughter to retire in 1991. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Carr and Carrie Oleen (Reddick) Brown; brother, David James Brown, his wife Lydia Brown; brother Clarence Carr Brown, and Matt's first wife, Josephine Delores (Falsi) Brown. He is survived by his devoted wife Violet Marion (Mulhern) Brown, one sister, Carrie Lou (Brown) Moore and husband George; daughter, Diana (Brown) Tycznski and family in Wisconsin; step daughters, Ann Mulhern Waller and family, Mary Deangelo and family, and Patricia Kirkpatrick and family all in Wisconsin. The Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with the Mass being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Fr. GUTIERREZ -- Matthew Dylan Gutierrez, age 11, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico joined our Lord and Savior after a tragic accident. He was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas and the Potters House in Albuquerque. Matthew was a sixth grade student at Raymond Gabaldon Intermediate School in Los Lunas. Matthew was the Sgt. of Arms of the Sons of the American League Squadron #72 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was such an outgoing young man that everyone was drawn to him. He always touched the hearts of anyone that knew him. He loved music and he was well known for his Beat Boxing. He was always singing and his family would turn down the TV just to hear him sing. He never held a grudge and his smile and his laugh were so contagious. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rosemary Bertha Griego and Jose Benny Gutierrez; great-great maternal grandmother, Antonia Garcia; one uncle, Ronald Ray Gutierrez; and his aunt, Cynthia Gutierrez. Matthew is survived by his parents, his mother, Bridget Archuleta and her fiance, Juan C. Hinojos; and his father, Joe R. Gutierrez and his wife, Laura of Albuquerque; his five siblings, Joshua Lee, Adam Jude, Hope Natalia, Kayla Rae, Elizabeth Grace, and Joseph Gabriel; his maternal grandparents, Nanda and Dean Harmon of Albuquerque, NM and Mel and Yolanda Archuleta of Veguita, NM; maternal great-grandparents, Juanita and Manuel Ortiz, of Albuquerque, Rita Hinson of Los Lunas; maternal great-great grandfather, J.A. Garcia of Albuquerque; his uncle, Santino Archuleta of Veguita; six aunts, Mellecia Archuleta of Los Lunas, Deana and her husband, Carlos Guerrero of Abilene, Texas, Carol and her husband, George Tapia, Mary Ann Gutierrez, Gloria Lovato and Anthony Lovato, Lisa and her husband, Kerry Murphy; he also is survived by many loving great and great-great uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends. All services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave. NE, Los Lunas, NM. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 2:00 p.m.. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, NM. PACO -- Martin "Marty" T. Paco passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 after fighting cancer. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Candy; daughter, Michelle; son, David; and granddaughter, Makayla. He is also survived by brothers, Daniel and Julian; father, Ruben all of Albuquerque; and sister, Laura of Dallas. Marty is preceded in death by his mother, Phoebe. Martin was a math teacher in Grants, NM before he moved to Albuquerque to get married. He retired from APS with 25 years, before joining Albuquerque Academy the last two years. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at The Albuquerque Academy Simms Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 102454 Atlanta, GA. 30368-2454. ARAGON -- Maximiliano "Max," "Tata," Aragon, age 83, born October 29, 1920, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2004. He was a Seaman, 2nd Class with the USS DELUTH during World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife, Angie Aragon and son, Max Aragon Jr. He is survived by his Daughters, Landa Lopez and husband Emilio, Jane Telles, Lorraine Nieto and husband, Steve, Helen Chavez and husband Joe, Juanita Aragon and husband, Jesus, and Roseann Aragon; brother, Jose Aragon of California; sisters, Rosella Turrieta and Carmen Madrid. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many relatives and Friends. Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Parish. Funeral Services will take place on Friday at San Jose Parish at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. ELLIOTT -- Eugene Lee Elliott, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully at his home on February 1, 2004. Gene was born on August 26, 1936 in Grinnell, Iowa. Gene was in the hotel and restaurant management business until his retirement. His love of woodworking led him to start Woodcrafts By Gene, making handmade Southwestern art. Gene was an avid Nascar fan and he enjoyed going and watching the races. Gene was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #865 in Raton, NM and served as past Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Rio Rancho American Legion Post 118. His wit and sense of humor set him apart and he will be missed by all of his family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and LueVera Elliott of Raton, NM. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; his daughter Deiedra "Dee" and husband Martin Quintana of Rio Rancho; brother, Charles and wife Peg; nephew, Mike, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; and his canine companion Charlie. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options in Rio Rancho.
