Guitron -- Rafael Guitron, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for six years, died Monday, May 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emma Guitron; daughters, Mary Lou Castillo and husband, Xavier, all of Albuquerque, Aurora Godinez and husband, Juillermo and Helen Diez Guitron, both of Guadalupe, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Mr. Guitron was born in Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 20. He was a very dedicated sheet metal worker until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1995 to be near their daughter and her family. Mr. Guitron loved spending time playing dominos and pool. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rosary will be recited Friday, May 11, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Sophia Gurule reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 11, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 10401 Indian School Rd. NE. with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Gallegos, Cel Cruz, Ruben Castillo, Frank Castillo, Javier Castillo and Kenneth Cruz. Thorson -- Ted Thorson, 73, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His parents were Mary Ellen Garrett and Playford V. Thorson. Thorson attended the public schools of Roswell, NM, Houston and Sweetwater, Texas where he finished High School in 1946. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico and a Master's Degree from Webster University in Illinois. Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1977, with a tour of duty in Japan and three tours in Southeast Asia, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Preceding him in death was his wife, Anabel Hughes Thorson and his parents. Surviving him are his wife, Layed Thorson of Albuquerque; two brothers, Stephen B. Thorson and wife, Billi Teal of Garden City, Kansas and Playford V. Thorson Jr. and wife, Harriet of Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Thorson and a grandson, Anthony Gallegos; a son, Gregory Hughes Thorson and wife, Dottie of Sandy, Oregon; and two daughters, Sherylyn Gay Thorson of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Maryly Charles of Pasadena, California. Grandchildren from his first marriage are Ryan, Mark and Michelle Thorson, Jessica and Jacob Charles. He was admired and loved by those who knew him. We shall miss him. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2001, 1:30 p.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Sherylyn Gay Thorson and Sunthorn Janthawong, officiating. Donoghue -- Gene E. Donoghue, age 61, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, 2001 in a local hospital. He was born July 22, 1939 in Albuquerque to the late Edward and Gene (Pace) Donoghue. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ann Donoghue of Albuquerque; one daughter, Kimberly Jean Donoghue and one son, Scott Edward Donoghue both of Albuquerque; four sisters, Norma Capeci of Springfield, Missouri, Margaret Fretwell, Durango, Colorado, Elaine Yeary, Albuquerque, Joan Kolbush, Albuquerque; four brothers, Charles N. Donoghue, Albuquerque, Michael Donoghue, Albuquerque, Edwin Donoghue, Belen, New Mexico, David Donoghue, Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Brittney and Jordan Donoghue of Albuquerque. He was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church. Gene entered the U.S. Army in 1957 where he served his country for three years. He was a boy scout as a young boy and later he was a scout leader with his son, Scott. Gene started Rocky Mountain Roofing Company in 1979 and retired in 1999. Gene loved hunting, fishing and was a Lobo Fan and a donator to the Lobos. He was a very generous and compassionate man not only to his family, but to his friends and all those who knew him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Great southwest Council of Boy Scouts, Sandia Hospice or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2001 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong- Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE. Rosary will be held Friday, May 3, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Charlie Gallegos praying the Rosary. The Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, May 5, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 3424 4th Street NW. Father John F. Plans will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Gallegos is survived by one daughter, Helen Lisle and her husband, Paul of Albuquerque; one son, Richard A. Mier Sr. and his wife, Deborah of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Friday, May 4, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. with the Reverend Father John Plans Celebrant. The family request memorials to Sandia Hospice. Rodriguez -- Reverend Mr. Facundo Raul Rodriguez born to Juan Rodriguez y Moya and Isabelita Rodriguez de Rodriguez in Santa Fe, N.M. Deacon Facundo was called by our Lord and Savior on April 28, 2001, after his battle with heart disease. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Rodriguez y Moya who died December 8, 1965 and his mother, Isabelita Rodriguez de Rodriguez who died December 13, 1981. He was reared at 1242 Cerro Gordo Road in Santa Fe, NM. On December 26, 1955 he married the former Eloisa Gallegos in Ojo Caliente, NM. Deacon Facundo is survived by his loving wife, Eloisa; beloved daughters, Michelle and husband, Valentin, and Marietta; and beloved son, Mark; and the sunshine of his life, his one and only granddaughter, Micaela. His siblings, Juanita Rodriguez of Estancia, NM, Eduardo Rodriguez and wife, Margaret of Santa Fe, Juan Miguel Rodriguez and wife, Maria of Santa Fe, Josefita Gonzales of Los Alamos, Delfina Foley and husband, Jay of Estancia, Librada Lavadie and husband, Tom of Tucson AZ; a very dear friend, and former co- worker Victor J. Ortiz, Jr of Rowe, NM. He is also survived by many other relatives; Godchildren; and loved ones.Deacon Facundo graduated from Santa Fe High school, from UNM with a BA in Political Science and Education; from NM Highlands University with a MA in Public School Administration, Supervision, Guidance, Counseling and Elementary Education. He taught school in Cerrillos, NM, Santa Cruz, NM and Pojoaque, NM. He was a principal in El Rito, NM and superintendent for the Penasco Independent School District. He was Bi- County Welfare Director for Rio Arriba and Los Alamos, State Director for the Work Experience and Training Program; South West Regional Representative for the American Public Welfare Association for five States; Director for the Santa Fe Model Cities Program; Director for the Field Operations, New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department; Executive Director for the Migrant Opportunity Program for Arizona; Albuquerque/ Bernalillo/ Torrence Counties Economic Opportunity Board; Program Officer for the NM Economic Opportunity Office; Planning Director/ Bureau Chief for the Governor's office of Employment and Training Administration, Real Estate Investor for the NM State Refugee Coordination; Security Officer with AKAL, Parish Administrator Pro Tem at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Villanueva, NM for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe; Advocate and Coordinator for the NM Older Worker Program. He patriotically served his country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged on February 6, 1946 after serving in the Asian Pacific Theater of Operations Air Offense of New Guniea and Luzon Islands. He was ordained in to the Permanent Diaconate Program on June 7, 1981. He faithfully and lovingly served the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and the people of NM in the capacity as deacon until his death. He was a life long-member of the National Education Association and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, VFW; American Legion; DAV; BPOE (Elks); Boy Scouts of America; Lt Col for the NM Defense Forces, and National Association of Retired Persons. He was honored by Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities; Who's Who in NM; Who's Who in the West; Who's Who in Education; numerous Air Force Decorations; President's Unit Citation, and was Chair of the the National Advisory Commission to the Secretary of the Health, Education, and Welfare on the Education of Spanish Speaking Americans. Memorial contributions may be given to Santa Maria de La Paz in loving memory of their faithful servant Deacon Facundo. Viewing will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Santa Maria de la Paz where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. prayed by the Knights of Columbus and another Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by the Deacons of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Santa Maria de la Paz. the main celebrant will be the Most Reverend Michael Sheehan, celebrating will also be Reverend Fr. Adam Lee Ortega y Ortiz and Reverend Fr. Jerome Martinez y Alire. Deacons of the Mass will be Juan Rodriguez and Donato Lucero. Burial following at the National Cemetery.

Chavez -- Fred Chavez Jr., 47, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 26, 2001. Mr. Chavez is survived by his mother, Mrs. Emelda Chavez; his wife, Sandra Tuitoelau; five children, Esther Tuitoelau, Sarah Chavez, Abram Chavez, Nathan Chavez and Tara Chavez; one grandson, Christian Tuitoelau. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his father, Fred Chavez Sr. and his brother, Rudy Chavez. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by his aunt, Logie Sanchez. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Father James Vance, celebrant.
