RIVERA, RICK Rosary services for Mr. Rick "Reeves" Rivera, 57, will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 16, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Martinez, Dennis Gallegos, J.R. Urban, Eddie Moon, Miguel Trujillo, Vidal Trujillo, David Rivera, Lawrence Barreras, Sonny Chavez, Mario Chavez, members of the Santa Rosa Volunteer Fire Department and all his remaining friends. Ricky passed away peacefully on December 10, 2014 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa following an illness. He was born on February 3, 1957 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Bernardo and Rose (Sanchez) Rivera. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa where he graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1975. Rick worked for several construction companies in Santa Rosa for many years. He was a member of the Santa Rosa Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing softball, being around his friends and loved being around his grandchildren. Rick had the most welcoming heart for everyone he met. Rick also volunteered as one of the "Chain Gang" members for the Santa Rosa Mighty Lions for over 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gloria Chavez and his brother-in-law Martin Trujillo. Survivors include his fiancee Tammy Gonzales of Santa Rosa; his children, Brock Rivera and wife Michelle of Rio Rancho, Bruce Rivera and wife Mary of Scottsdale, AZ, Sharla Trujillo and husband Mario of Santa Rosa, J.R. Urban and wife Noel also of Santa Rosa; his grandchildren, Breanna, Josh, Aislyn, Mario Jr., Isaiah L. Mikayla, Haeleigh, Skylar, Tristan, Isaiah R., Jason and Jalyn. Also surviving are his sisters and brother, Rita Trujillo of Roswell, Angie Rivera of Albuquerque, Dolores Rivera of Wyoming, Bernardo Rivera and wife Raelene of North Dakota, Danny Duran and wife Mary Lou of Albuquerque; the mother of his children Jackie Via; along with numerous nieces and nephews who were like his children and numerous relatives and friends. LOBATO, RUTH G. On December 4, 2014, Ruth peacefully passed into eternal life at the age of 97. Born on March 5, 1917, in San Pablo, CO to Vicente Gonzales and Clara Duran Gonzales, Ruth was one of eight children. Educated at the Allison School for Girls in Santa Fe, The Menaul School in Albuquerque, she earned a BA from Adams State Teachers College in Alamosa, CO. Ruth was a much admired teacher of Spanish and worked for the Ft. Garland, CO (1942- 1944), Los Lunas (1948- 1962), and Grants (1962- 1978) School Districts. She also taught Spanish at the NMSU Branch in Grants. She inspired her students, many with whom she has corresponded over the years. Ruth was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon. She was affiliated with AAUW, Retired Teachers, and was a 51 year member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for Women Educators. She was nominated to Who's Who of American Women in 1972. Ruth is the deeply loved mother to Carmen Tapia (John) of Albuquerque and Camille Johnson (Robert) of Mill Valley, CA; grandmother to Ron Tapia and Veronica Hoffman (Heath); great-grandmother to Nicholas and Stephanie Tapia, Joshua and Sophia Hoffman; great-great-grandmother to Isaac Tapia-Banda. She is also survived by Lisa Tapia; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nephews and nieces. Ruth is predeceased by her sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Louis A. Lobato (October 25, 2002); parents, Vicente and Clara Gonzales; siblings, Serbula Sanchez (Ruben), Celia Everitt (Harold Everitt and Nick Atencio), Horacio Gonzales (Rose), Ruth, Celia, Margarito and Julia Gonzales. A loving, generous and nurturing woman and a dear friend to many, Ruth will be missed. ARELLANES, JOE F. Age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Marie (Hita) A. Arellanes; son, Joseph A. Arellanes, Sr.; and his parents, Mariano and Clarita Arellanes. He is survived by his children, Richard Arellanes (Dorothy), D. Theresa Arellanes, Robert Arellanes (JoAnn), Barbara Salas (Lawrence), Janice Pick (Ray), Donna M. Duran (Julius), Anne Matson (Keith), his "adopted" daughter, Diana Hamm, other nieces, nephews, relatives and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December, 9, 2014, 9:30 a.m., with the Memorial Mass following at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM. WARD, DUSTIN E. A beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Age 46, Dustin lived in Albuquerque as a teenager and moved to Denver, CO in the early 1990's. He is survived by his mother, Linda Duran; step-father, Al Duran; brother, Kirk Ward; sister-in-law, Lori Ward; nephew, Dakota Ward; nieces, Chelsea and Remington Ward; and a host of many friends. Dustin died in peace Sunday evening at home in Denver. He was always the life of the party, but now he is finally at peace and rest with Jesus. We will miss him terribly; however, knowing he is at rest is our greatest consolation. "All things work together for good for those who love God and called according to His purpose" Rom. 8:28. HERRERA, JOEY JESSE Age 34, our beloved Brother, was called to his eternal resting place on November 13, 2014. He entered this world on July 6, 1980 in Albuquerque, NM, born to Dale and Loretta Herrera. He attended school in Albuquerque and went to work for CEI Enterprises, where he worked in many different areas and most recently as a painter. He is survived by his brothers, Julian Herrera and Jesse Herrera; and sisters, April Saavedra-Duran and husband, Juan, and Michelle Polito. Although Joey had no children, he was a father to many - especially to his nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his 49'ers and country music. Joey will be remembered for his genuine compassion, selflessness, and devotion. His wisdom was a gift he shared with all in his presence. We know that his last breath on earth was followed by his first glorious breath in heaven. RUDI, KEVIN ALEXANDER Kevin Alexander Rudi, A.K.A "Polar Bear" A.K.A. "The Man" 27 years old, passed away from sarcoma cancer Wednesday November 12, 2014, in his home in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by close friends and family. Born September 17th 1987 in Sacramento, CA to Diane and Iver Rudi, he grew up with two older brothers, Curtis and Nolan Rudi. Kevin graduated from Rio Rancho High School class of 2006 located in Rio Rancho, NM followed by a Bachelor's degree in Accounting at New Mexico State University class of 2011 in Las Cruces, NM. In high school Kevin was a varsity wrestler on championship teams while attending Rio Rancho, he then went on to join the cheer leading team for New Mexico State showing strong support for the Aggies. Kevin had the strength to lift and support his flier using only one arm. He was honored to be twice elected High Tau "The Treasurer" for the New Mexico State chapter of Lamda Chi Alpha. He went on from college to work as an accountant for Mega Corp, an equipment manufacturing company, in Albuquerque. While at the same time participating on a university rugby club, "The Chile's." His employment and thorough understanding of the stock market as Owner/CEO of White Bear Investments, allowed him to purchase his first fixer-upper home in Albuquerque, NM. With the help of family and friends he turned it into a palace. Kevin traveled the nation in his battle against cancer. His stops included Houston, New York, Denver, and Albuquerque. He is survived by his grandparents, John and Gayle Wilson, and Percy and Virginia Haugen "Rudi" and his two best friends Matthew "Chewy" Duran and Kory Robertson.
