TATE -- Mildred Faye Tate, 86, of Moriarty, NM passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Mildred was born on September 14, 1924 in Pueblo, CO to Frank and Ann (Hodges) Hester. Mildred who had lived in Moriarty, NM since 1955 was a substitute school teacher, city librarian, member of American Legion Auxiliary, active member of the Church of the Nazarene and a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Mildred married Cyril Tate, who preceded her in death in 2000, on June 11, 1942. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ann Hester; her spouse of 58 years, Cyril Tate; and her son, Alfred Tate. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Pat" Jones and her husband Raymond of Moriarty, NM; sons, Jim "J.B." Tate and his wife Joanie of Scottsdale, AZ and Bert Tate and his wife Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Marie Rushing and her husband Melton of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, Jay and his wife Kristin, Vicki, and Nicole Tate, Brian and Kerry Jones, Jennifer Chavez and her boyfriend Ben Gutierrez and Cindy and her husband Kenny Fresquez; and five great-grandchildren, Leaya, Michael and Natalie Tate, Isaiah Chavez and Jonathan Fresquez. There will be a viewing on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Harris Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.,at the Moriarty Church of the Nazarene. Arnie Leidy and Harold Cartwright will officiate. The burial will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers will be Jay Tate, Brian Jones, Kenny Fresquez, Danny Paiz, Ben Gutierrez, Louie Guenther, Jesse Rogers and George Gill. TRUJILLO -- Adelia Trujillo, 77, longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on February 16, surrounded by her loving family. Adelia Trujillo was born May 21, 1933 in Juan Tomas NM, to the late Pablo and Juanita Martinez. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Daniel Trujillo Jr.; brother, Fred Martinez; and granddaughter Angel Marie Garcia. She is survived by her sons, Jim Trujillo and wife jeda, Daniel Gutierrez and Caroline; daughters, Theresa Perea and husband Joey, Barbara Montano and husband Peter, Christine Mora and husband Emilio D., Darlene Trujillo and Debbie Trujillo; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Griego; brothers, Robert Martinez, William Martinez, Polo Martinez and Johnny Martinez. During her long and happy life she enjoyed making cakes, pottery, ceramics, painting and going to the casino. She was also the consummate homemaker, wife, mother and grandma, who loved her family above all else and was dearly loved in return. Adelia's and Daniel's legacy to their family is as role models, reflected in their love and devotion to each other and their family for 55 wonderful years. A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. The Rosary will be recited on Monday February 21, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3424 4th St. NW. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Therese Catholic Church. TRUJILLO -- Alice Trujillo, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. She is survived by her husband, Tony Trujillo of 55 years; three daughters, Dora Montano and her husband Albert, , Lena Trujillo-Chavez and her husband Michael, and Jeanette Trujillo and her fiance Matthew; four sons, Tony Trujillo and his fiance Toni, Rick Trujillo, Leonard Trujillo and his wife Joann, and Isaac Trujillo and his wife Christine; She enjoyed her 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., in the St. Therese Catholic Church. The Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 9:30 a.m., at the St. Therese Catholic Church. WELLS -- Vincent (Richard) Wells, 80, former resident of Wichita and for the past 25 years a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away on February 7, 2011, after a long illness. For the last year he and his wife of 57 years, Clara Delores (Huggins) Wells, have lived at the Montebello on Academy, a retirement community. Vince was born June 25, 1930 in Great Bend, Kansas to Roland Otis Wells and Lois Maude (Sparks) Wells. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1948. He met his wife-to-be at Kansas State University where he earned bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Social Science in 1952. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and then returned to Kansas State to earn a Masters of Science in Psychology (Industrial Psychology) in 1956. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Industrial Relations from 1956 to 1962. Moving to his wife's hometown of Wichita, he spearheaded a number of successful business ventures. In 1962 he opened his first Shakey's Pizza parlor. More were to follow; eventually he had 16 spread from Ohio to Arizona. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1986. In 1995 he founded Haven Care and was one of the first in Albuquerque to provide residential care that specializes in helping those with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He operated six Haven Care facilities. He took great enjoyment in being active in community and professional organizations and in church. He was involved in the YMCA, Rotary, the Young Presidents Organization, and the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico. For many years he was president of the International Franchise Dealers Association.He served as Treasurer for Assisted Living Services Organization (ALSO). He was the official photographer, capturing several years of the Alzheimer Association Memory Walk in Albuquerque. For 20 years at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque he faithfully served as an Usher Coordinator as well as volunteering weekly in the Prayer Room, often taking the 2:00 a.m., Tuesday shift. Vince is survived by his wife, Dee; a daughter, Stephanie Cole of Denver, Colorado; a son, James Arthur Wells II of San Francisco; a granddaughter, Devon Cole of Denver. Vince was a life-long "positive thinker." When asked "How are you?" his typical response would be "Fantastic! But getting better!" He is fondly remembered by his family and friends as a gregarious, bigger-than-life presence, always at the ready with a bear hug. In fact, his hugs became so legendary that on his 50th birthday, a longtime friend wrote new lyrics to the old standard "Embraceable You," called "In-Vince-able You." He was always the man with the camera, preserving memories in photos and labeling them with a bright gold marker. The service will be private. WIGGINS -- Herbert (Jack) Wiggins lost his five year battle with lung cancer and passed away peacefully at home, December 1, 2010. He was 83. Jack was born in Oakland, California, December 9th, 1926. He attended St. Joseph Military Academy, Belmont, CA, Claremont Jr. High, Oakland, CA, University High School, Oakland, CA, and College of San Mateo San Mateo, CA. Jack met and married Janet, his wife of 60 years at the college. Jack joined the Merchant Marines in 1943 at the age of 16. He served on the S.S. Sea Flasher, S.S.J. Sterling Martin, S.S. Extavia and S.S. Michael Pupin. During the time he served in the Merchant Marines, he helped deliver troops and equipment throughout the Pacific during WWII. His ships came under strafing, bombings and torpedoes almost daily. Jack received the Pacific War Zone Medal, the Mediterranean Middle East War Zone Medal and the Merchant Marine Combat Medal. He left the Merchant Marines in 1946 and joined the US, Marines Corps. He served two years as a Military Policeman in Oceanside, CA until 1948. Jack worked for GTE Lenkurt, San Carlos, CA in electronics. When Lenkurt sold to Siemen's, he transferred to the plant in Albuquerque, NM and worked 35 years until his retirement. He had a place in his heart for his "Girls on the Line", who managed to get the product out by the end of the month - Thanks Ladies! Jack participated in Quick Draw Gun competitions and won many trophies. He also was an extra in the movies filmed in Albuquerque. Jack is survived by his wife Janet; son Michael (Robyn); daughter Randi (Jeff); granddaughter Jodi (Skyler); and great-grandchildren, Landen and Arlynn. WIUFF -- Brenda Mae Wiuff born December 7, 1961, passed away February 10, 2011. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beatrice Wiuff. CONTRERAS -- Leonard M. Contreras, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 14, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Prescilla Montoya; son, Manuel Contreras; daughter, Francesca Sanchez; and several grandchildren. He was born October 22, 1936 and grew up and lived in the Barelas Neighborhood of Albuquerque. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Washington Jr. High School and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1954. He received BA and MA degrees in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico. Leonard was employed by the Boeing Airplane Co. in Seattle, WA from 1960 until 1964. He was employed by the Department of Defense at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory on Kirtland AFB until he retired. FLYNN -- Mary Anne Elizabeth Koss Flynn. Mary Anne died peacefully on February 9, 2011, in San Diego, California, following a lengthy illness. Her husband, children, and sister were at her side. Mary Anne was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and was the first child of Nicholas Francis and Rose Cecilia Malchano Koss. Following her graduation from Beaver High School in Beaver, Pennsylvania, she attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, majoring in business and minoring in psychology, education, and social studies. While at Mercyhurst, she met her future husband, William G. Flynn, of Buffalo, New York, who was student at Gannon College. Having graduated from Mercyhurst with a bachelor's degree in business, Mary Anne taught at Robert Morris Business College in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She also earned a master's degree in education with a minor in psychology from Duquesne University. A long-time resident of Albuquerque, Mary Anne taught at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute, and Career Enrichment Center of the Albuquerque Public Schools from which she retired. In 1993 she was named the Teacher of the Year by the New Mexico Business Education Association, and in 1998 she received the Crystal Apple Award. During her career, she co-authored two textbooks for Reston Publishing Company: Word and Information Processing (translated into Spanish) and Word Processing Skills and Applications. Mary Ann taught workshops for the University of New Mexico Law School, State of New Mexico employees, Indian Pueblos, and the City of Albuquerque. She also earned credits toward a Ph.D. at the University of New Mexico. For many years Mary Anne volunteered as a docent at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. An avid traveler, Mary Anne and her husband visited Japan, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Finland, Russia, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, and the South Pacific. Preceded in death by her parents, Mary Anne is survived by William Flynn, her husband of 48 years. She is also survived by her son, Bill Flynn, and his wife, Karen, of Denver, Colorado, and her daughter, Mary Beth Dayton, and her husband, Robert, of Dallas, Texas. Mary Anne took great pride and joy in her grandchildren: Will Flynn and Jack, Caroline, and Sam Dayton. Also surviving are her brother, Brother Nicholas Koss, O.S.B., of Bejing, China, and her sister, Sally Rowse and her husband, Bill, of Huntersville, North Carolina. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 26, 2011, by Rev. Msgr. Richard Olona at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
