Babb -- Maynard Adams Babb, age 94, died Saturday, March 6, 1999 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Johnson Babb; his children, David Babb of Albuquerque, Elaine Chastain of Amarillo, and Burton Babb of Albuquerque; and by many grand and great-granchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his dear first wife, Elizabeth"Betty" Kirsch Babb in 1989. Mr. Babb was a Class of '28 graduate of MIT, from which he held degrees in Electrical Engineering. His numerous inventions in this new field led to his being awarded the Army/Navy"E" for Excellence award in the closing days of WWII. He was an avid yachtsman, and a proud Rotarian. His ashes will be interred on March 20 at a brief graveside service in Amarillo. The Sunrise Society of New Mexico is handling local arrangements, (891-8200).

Cochran -- Martha Stevenson Cochran died on March 12, 1999 in Naples, Florida at the age of 88. She was a resident of Naples for the past 16 years. Born in Washington, Pennsylvania, she was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Stevenson. Mrs. Cochran moved to the southwest in 1946 with her husband and two children and remained there until moving to Naples. Mrs. Cochran is survived by her daughter, Susan Martin of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Thomas of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Becky, Gina, Karen, Laurie, Sonny, Thomas, David, Tommy; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Cochran in 1978, her older brother, Pressly L. Stevenson of Naples, Florida and her younger sister, Mary S. Taylor of Alexandra, Virginia. Martha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Naples, attended Hollins College in Hollins, Virginia and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Phibbs -- Doris Faye Phibbs, 83, of Albuquerque, passed away on March 11, 1999, of natural causes. She is survived by her husband, Frank Phibbs and her son, David Anderson and his wife, Linda and two grandsons, Erik and Ryan. There will be a family memorial.

Cozzens -- Mabel Virginia Cozzens, 83, a resident of New Mexico for 54 years, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Orr of Gallup; step-son, Tom Cozzens and wife, Sharon of El Paso, TX; three grandsons, Gary Orr and wife, Mary, Teddy Orr and wife, JohnnieSue and Tommy Orr and wife, Marty, all of Gallup; nine great-grandchildren, Robin and husband, Chris, Clint and wife, Shirley, Sabor, David, Joe, B.J., and Alyssa; and two great-great-grandsons, Jacob and Wyatt. Mrs. Cozzens owned Ski-High Package Store for many years. She was a member of Four Hills Country Club. Mrs. Cozzens was also a member of Methodist Episcopal Church of Portsmouth, VA. She luncheoned daily at Volcano Cliffs Senior Center at"Mabel's Table" with her friends. Mrs. Cozzens was a true Southern Lady to the end who touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. Jeff Symonds officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Rose Jaramillo, Leroy Jaramillo and Adam Jaramillo. Lowry -- Helen M. Lowry, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 9, 1999. She was born February 21, 1919 in Warrensburg, Missouri to Alpha and Myrtle Munkers. Helen graduated from Central Missouri State Teachers College, in Warrensburg on July 29, 1943 with a degree in Vocational Home Economics. She taught Home Economics in a number of locations in Missouri and also in Michigan and Mississippi when traveling with her husband, Edward Lowry, whom she married on February 21, 1945. The Lowrys have one son, Warren, who is married and is at home with wife, Madelyn of Anchorage, Alaska. As a loving wife and mother, Helen was active in Lutheran church youth activities in the number of cities which she and Edward lived, including Pascagoula, Mississippi, Columbus, Ohio, three times in Albuquerque, twice in Washington, DC area, twice in Seattle, Washington area, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She and Edward retired in Albuquerque in 1985. Besides Helen's activities in home and Christian youth, Helen enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing, and being a part of military officers wives clubs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, and Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 8766, Albuquerque, NM 87198-8766. Chavez -- Eliseo S. Chavez, 101, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his sister, Isidorita Segura; and daughter, Esther Segura; three nephews, Elias E. Chavez and wife, Josie, Santiago Chavez and wife, Viola, John Chavez and wife, Rose; five nieces, Lisa Trujillo, Lena Griego, Sela Griego and husband, Joe, Betsy Lucero and husband, Phill, Teresa Archibeque. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anita Dominguez and David Archibeque. A Rosary will be held at the Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, Thursday, March 11, 1999, 6:15 p.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, March 12, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. Cremation arrangements were provided by Metropolitan Direct Burial and Cremation Center, Inc., 601 Mountain Rd. Ewing -- Robert L. Ewing, 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. He is survived by his sons, Robert Ewing, Jr. and wife, Yolie of Superior, AZ, and Thomas Ewing and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Flo Migliore and husband, Richie, of Albuquerque, and Joy Threlkeld and husband, Chuck, of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren, Danita and husband, David, Eleana, Michael and fiancee, Becky, Curtis and wife, Alisha, and Mario; and great-grandchildren, Erinn, Erik and Evynn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 1987. Mr. Ewing was in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a retired mechanic. Garcia -- Epifanio Garcia, 72, a lifetime resident of Canyon, New Mexico. He was a very well known and very well liked man by all who knew him. He passed away on March 8, 1999 at 10:45 p.m. from an aneurism attack. He is survived by six sisters, Carmelita Garcia, Aurora and husband, Ray Martinez, Neyda and husband, Herman Maestas, Senida and husband, Antonio Montoya, Sally and husband, Ramiro Velasquez, Alicia Garcia; nieces and nephews, Victoria and Anita Garcia, Leora Chavez, Nelson, Jerry and Reina Martinez, Tommy, Michael, George and Robert Maestas, Clara Myers, Teresa Simos, Ted, Eugene, Cathy and David Montoya, Alice Howard, Judy Velasquez, Leroy, Pat and Sammy Garcia, Cecilia Coleman, Rita Lucero, Gladys, Nellie, Patricia Abeyta, Louie, Ralph, Benny C de Baca, Pauline Mora. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Canon, NM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
