Pierce -- Bruce John Pierce, 62, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 10, 2000. A resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, he is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Lisa and Matt Spangler, Brian Pierce, Valerie and Kevin Jameson, and Andrew Pierce. He is also survived by his seven grandsons, Zachary Spangler, Bruce Kristopher Jameson, Nathaniel Spangler, Drew Jameson, Paul Pierce, Benjamin Spangler and Stephen Pierce.; mother-in-law, Armella Woodward; sisters-in-law, Sister Elizabeth Woodward IHM, and Sandra Woodward and brother-in-law, Dr. William Woodward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Sarah Pierce. Mr. Pierce was born in Westchester, PA on January 21, 1938. He attended school in Pottstown, PA, received a B.S. at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, earned an MBA Cum Laude at the University of Michigan. Mr. Pierce rose through the ranks at the first Bank of New Mexico and became the youngest CEO of a bank in the states history. In 1977, he formed his own entrepreneurial company and engaged in that endeavor until his death. Mr. Pierce was responsible for the Historic Restoration of the Old St. Joseph Hospital, the Springer building and the Rosenwald building, Albuquerque's first department store. He was on numerous boards in the community and served in the Army Reserves. Mr. Pierce considered his greatest achievement in life to be his Christian family. He enjoyed countless hours of ball playing, fishing, target shooting, exploring the outdoors and fellowship with friends and family. He is a treasure who will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park NE. Salazar -- Donaciano (Don) Salazar, 81, our beloved husband and father, passed away October 8, 2000. Formerly of Wagon Mound, he was retired from the New Mexico Highway Department. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen LeDoux Salazar; his children include David Salazar and wife, Annabelle of Colorado Springs, CO, Frances Montoya and husband, Gilbert of Albuquerque, Jerry Salazar and wife, Laurie of Ignacio, CO, Christine Roybal and husband, Serafin of Nambe, NM, Larry Salazar and wife, Sophie of Perryton, TX, Martha Ly and husband, Minh of Albuquerque. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Joaquin Salazar, Arcelia Salazar, Ronnie Montoya, James Montoya, Jaime Salazar, Eli Salazar, Marisa Salazar, Santiago Roybal, Manuelita Roybal, Larry Salazar Jr. and wife, Shelly, Augustine Salazar and wife, Misty, Joseph Salazar, Robert Salazar, Brandon Ly and Jet Ly. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Savannah and Elicia Salazar, Angelica Wadsworth-Montoya, Jayleen and Jacob Montoya, Teresa and Larry Salazar III and Ricky; his brothers and sisters include Eloy Salazar of Santa Fe, Alex Salazar and wife, Jennie of Carson City, CA, Lita Garcia and husband, Al of Bernalillo, Isabel Gonzales and husband, Jim of Pecos, NM, and Mary Lou Archuleta and husband, Crescencio of Springer, NM. A visitation will be held in Albuquerque in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services on Tuesday, October 10, 2000, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary at Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound, NM at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2000, Thursday, October 12, 2000 at 11:00 p.m., and Mass will be celebrated at Santa Clara Catholic Church. Shollenbarger -- Ann Shollenbarger, 51, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, October 3, 2000 after a long fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Bob Scholz of ten years; son, Matt Scholz; sisters, Donna Stevens and husband, Ara of Jemez Springs; Chere Riegger and husband, Mike of Corrales; Rene Shollenbarger and nephew, Wes Edling, both of Albuquerque; brother, Bob Scott and wife, Ann of Albuquerque; and good friend, Pat Hamilton of Albuquerque. She was a native of New Mexico, born and raised in Springer as the eldest daughter of Ben and Martha Jean Shollenbarger. Ann was Presidents of Shollenbarger Wood Treating, Materials Inc. and Groff Lumber Co. She enjoyed painting, pottery, and animals, especially her cat Misty. She loved to play golf and travel with her husband, Bob. Cremation has taken place and a reception will be held at the family home, 8649 Rio Grande NW, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Friday, October 6, 2000. Hagemeier -- Eva Hagemeier, 84, went home to heaven September 30, 2000. She grew up in Springer, NM, the daughter of Frank and Georgia Howell. She married Rev. Wayne F. Hagemeier in 1934 and served with her husband in Nazarene Churches in New Mexico, Idaho and Washington State, retiring to Edgewood, NM in 184. Eva is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Wayne F. Hagemeier; sons, Warren W. Hagemeier and wife, Kathleen of Albuquerque, Garren E. Hagemeier and wife, Connie of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter, Evadine Tullock of Austin, TX; brother, FA Howell of Albuquerque; sisters, Alta Hatton of Albuquerque and Wilma Berlier and husband, Oscar of Encino, NM; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo del Norte NE, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2000, with Rev. Steve Dolberry and Rev. William Nielson officiating. Carr -- Mae Marilyn Carr, a resident of Santa Fe, NM for 22 years, passed away August 1, 2000. She was born June 19, 1921 in Rochester, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Byron Carr in March of this year. She is survived by her son, Jonathan Carr and wife Adele, son, Glenn Carr; grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez, Christopher Harvey, Catherine Carr, Jacqueline Carr and Carrie Carr, all residing in New Mexico; sisters, Evelyn Woodall and husband, James of Texas; step-mother, Candida Cange; and sister, Kathy Kaechale of California sister, Carol Springer of Connecticut; as well as nieces and nephews and many friends around the country. She was a singer, dancer, and businesswomen during her lifetime and will be missed by all who knew her. Parker -- Thomas V. Parker, age 74, born on July 27, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to Lynus and Ethel Parker, died Sunday, April 9, 2000. He graduated from Dexter High School, N.M. in 1942, attended New Mexico State University, and graduated from Baylor University College of Dentistry in 1950. He served as 2nd Lt., U.S. Infantry in the Philippines from 1943 to 1946. Dr. Parker was President of the N.M Dental Association in 1967-68, and also served as a member of the N.M. State Board of Dental Examiners from 1970-75. He practiced dentistry in both Springer and Raton, NM for 40 years before retiring in 1988. During his retirement years, he worked part-time for a Santa Fe periodontist. Dr. Parker was past Master of the Springer Masonic Lodge No. 45 AF&AM, Member of the Scottish Rite in Santa Fe, Ballut Abayad Shrine Temple Albuquerque Chapter #24 Royal Order of Jesters, BPOE Elks Club #865 of Raton, and Order of Eastern Stars in Springer, NM. Thomas is survived by his wife Peggy (Goldie) of Los Lunas; brother Jack Parker and wife, Ella of Albuquerque; daughters Jeanne Bader and husband, Mark of Plano, TX; Donna Barnes and husband, Harley of Irving, TX; Karen Woosley and husband, Joe of Sparks, NV; and Rita Fuller and husband, Tom of Mountain Home, ID; three step-sons, Paul Mayer of Spearfish, SD; Steve Mayer of Panama City Beach, FL; and Brad Mayer of Rio Rancho; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lopez -- Betty V. Lopez, age 76, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2000 at her home in Albuquerque. Betty was born on August 9, 1924 in Rayado, New Mexico to the home of Pedro Lopez and Maria Endelsia (Vargas) Lopez. She was employed by Presbyterian Hospital for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, John C. Lopez. She is survived by four brothers, Mike A. Lopez of South San Francisco, CA, Edward A. Lopez and wife of Santa Fe, Joe C. Lopez and wife of Springer, NM, Eddie T. Lopez and wife of Prescott Valley, AZ; and one sister, Frances (Lopez) Le Mon of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2000, by Gabriella Nieto at Our Lady of Fatima. Arrangements have been made with Sunrise Society for cremation. Private disposition will take place at Springer Cemetery, in Springer, NM, by surviving family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in remembrance of Betty on her birthday on Wednesday, August 9, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima.

Romero -- Alicia Romero, age 86, of Santa Fe, died on Wednesday, December 29, 1000. She was born in Springer, NM, on October 7, 1913, to Epifanio and Maria Deluvina Arellano. Her father was a cattleman and farmer in Springer before retiring to Santa Fe. She was raised on the family ranch near Miami, NM, and attended the public schools in Springer, graduating from high school in 1929. She studied business at New Mexico Highlands University, graduated in 1931, and went to work at the State Land Office in Santa Fe, where she met her future husband, Miguel Antonio Romero, from Las Vegas, whom she married on September 19, 1931. Alicia served two terms as secretary of state from 1947-1950 and frequently served as acting governor. She served under Gov. Thomas Mabry, while the late U.S. Sen. Joseph Montoya served as lieutenant governor. The past Democratic chairman of San Miguel County, she was on the executive committee of Secretary of State Association and served as president of the National Association of Secretaries of State. She was secretary and treasurer of the San Antonio, NM, Oil Company from 1948 to 1952 and was secretary-treasurer of MAR Oil and Gas Company, which she helped her husband establish. She was a certified grapho-analyst and a member of the International Society of Grapho-Analysts. She was appointed to the Board of Tuberculosis Hospitals of New Mexico. She served on many commissions, boards and clubs during her dynamic career. These included the Santa Fe Women's Club, where she served as president during one term, and La Society Folklorica de Santa Fe, founded by Cleofas Jaramillo during the mid-1930's. In 1959, Alicia served as president of La Sociedad. Never lacking in spirit and energy, Alicia started painting while she was teaching a class in handwriting identification in the University of New Mexico's Division of Continuing Education. She enrolled in art class and took off from there. Alicia has painted hundreds of floral arrangements, landscapes, buildings and animals. Her paintings have been featured at several banks and other exhibitions in connection with other artists. After about 20 years of painting, she continued to be highly prolific and painted at every chance available to her. She is survived by her four children; Felipe Benigno Romero, Gloria Yoland Romero de Gurries, Miguel Antonio, Jr., and Leon Alban Romero; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 30, at 5:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM.
