Eggert -- Anna S. Eggert, died Thursday, September 28, 2000 at home. Eight days before her 91st birthday. She was born on October 6, 1909 in York, PA to Joseph Schifani and Olga Gordon Schifani. She seemed to have some premonition because early in the morning, on September 27th she said to her son,"Maybe it is time for me to go". She came to Albuquerque in 1918. She resided most of her life in New Mexico. She often would reminisce about Albuquerque of the time past recalling the first traffic light, the trolley tracts, the first zoo and many of the old but now razed buildings. She was a contestant in naming the Kimo Theater. Her entry"The Kiva" did not win. On November 21, 1928 she married William E. Eggert in the old Immaculate Conception Church, Downtown. She and her beloved Bill were happily married for almost 65 years. In 1938 she and her husband purchased the Santa Fe Secretarial School. Then in 1944 while still operating the business college in Santa Fe they purchased the Albuquerque Business College that had been founded in 1902. At that time her husband joined her in teaching and managing the schools. Shortly thereafter they established the Eggert Radio and Electronic Institute. They sold the schools and retired in 1977. Retired life was never dull. Bill and Ann were often surrounded by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna had a hobby that delighted many youngsters. She had started the hobby to entertain the grandchildren. Each year her home became a veritable toyland filled with Santa Clauses. Each year for Christmas she would display over 1000 Santa Clauses including one seven feet tall. Her Christmas tree had more than 2000 miniature electric lights and 800-900 ornaments. The amazing part was they all got put away after the Feast of the Epiphany. Santa Clause was not the only thing on display. There are well over 100 religious paintings and statues on display all year. She was a deeply religious person. Right up to the end she never lost her faculties, sense of humor or control. The family often joked if she had her eyesight she would be driving and would be H--- on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and is survived by a son, Father Francis X. Eggert; daughters, Shirley M. Villa and husband, Charles and Phyllis N. Ables. Two very close and special godchildren, Peter G. Spehar and Joan H. Johnson. Five grandchildren, Melodee Bero, Carole Jean Sullivan and husband, Daniel , Daniel Ables Sandlin and wife, Julie, Shirley Sandlin Tucker and husband, Tom, and Carla Villa and husband, Michael Bickel; seven great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Phillip and Kenneth Bero, Sara Sullivan, Ian and Eric Sandlin, and Charles Bickel. One sister, Pearl Mac Kenzie; two brothers, Ted Schifani and Daniel Schifani and wife, Dianne; one sister-in-law, Bertha Balling; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be prayed, Sunday, October 1st at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. All services will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, corner of Lomas and Morningside. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Ables Sandlin, Daniel James Sullivan, Daniel Lee Bero, Michael David Bickel, Tom H. Tucker, Johnny Balling, Jerry Balling, and Thurman"Skip" Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter G. Spehar, Charles Villa, Kristopher Bero, Phillip Bero, Kenneth Bero, Daniel Schifani, Ted Schifani, Ricky Schifani and Joe Schifani. Sanchez -- In Loving Memory of TEDDY P. SANCHEZ May 4, 1967 - October 1, 1987WHEN THE TREES ARE TURNING GOLDIt's that time of year, our Teddy, When the trees are turning gold, The leaves are rusty crimson, And the air is getting cold. The balloons bring cheer to others, They are truly"works of art". Yet we struggle with our memories, We try to mend our aching heart.Did you choose this busy season To take our minds away from grief? Were you hoping to distract us At this"time" and bring relief From our painful sense of loss, From the void you left down here, Did you think the blow would soften Leaving at"this time of year"?Well, the trees are truly golden And their leaves are crimson red, But their beauty just reminds us Of our loss, dear angel Ted. People tell us to remember, "Time will heal" is what we're told. Yet we feel our loss most deeply "When the trees are turning gold."We'll love you forever, Mom, Dad and Brothers By Mom -Copyright 1992 May not be copied without written permission of Sally R. Another was Pilgrims at prayer around a wooden table with her granddaughter in costume of a pilgrim standing nearby. She made a Sphinx for the Daughters of the Nile and pine cone roadrunners with long featherweed tails pulling a sleigh for a Southwestern Christmas. Pablita Velarde inspired her daughter to create another Christmas scene of the Southwest. Both Don and Polly helped Jackie in creating a background of red clay cliffs and a foreground of Indian Shepherds, a donkey made of fur together with lambs, and an Indian doll resting with a papoose in the cradle board. Pauline loved the southwest. She moved to Albuquerque in 1922 and attended Albuquerque High School and U.N.M. art classes. Yannacci -- JACOB R. YANNACCI 19 July 1975 to 1 October 1995I remember the day you were baptized at one month old. There were only four of us at the church. Your mother, your aunt, Beatrice, and us, your Godparents, and a kind, Irish priest, who took pictures of you. I remember when you were a toddler that you, your grandmother, Polly, and I would go swimming. I remember when you were seven years old and your mother got married. You looked so grown up walking down the aisle as the ringbearer. Your step-father adopted you and your brother. I had hoped he'd be a better father than my brother was to you. I only wished you happiness that day. I remember you growing up into a fine, young man and finally getting your life together. I will always remember that all from my mother, your grandmother, that morning about your untimely death. I remember the haunting church bells ringing after your funeral mass and the cold wind that hit us as we got into the truck to go to the cemetery. I can still hear those bells. You are remembered, Jacob, I hope you are in a much better place--filled with peace, happiness, and love. You deserved all this in your life. It's hard to believe five years have passed since you've been gone. Love always, Aunt Paula, Uncle Salomon, and especially your grandmother, Polly.
